What about wearing short boots? I prefer wearing those with socks and then have a bit if a heel. Look online and you will see boots with pants and dresses.

Feeling cold, does it get better with time or a forever thing?

So a lot of us get cold easily. Does it stabilize after a year or more or are you always cold wearing a sweater or jacket when others are not? -
Struggling with Protein Intake HELP PLEASE!!!
2Bsmaller18 replied to Glower's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Have you tried protein water. I think they sell it at target and Walmart. It’s pretty sweet so you may need to mix in some water or try it over ice so it’s really cold. -
Tell me your best vitamin tips with gastric bypass

My MD has me take calcium 500 mg 3x day in addition to the once per day Procare. I take the procare at the end of the day since you are supposed to allow 2 hours between calcium and taking iron that’s in the multivitamin. I drink milk in the morning and don’t after dinner so that schedule works for me. -

So that’s weird. I looked online for the amounts and made my previous post. Today I looked at my bottle and it’s the same as yours with the higher amounts. I wonder if the online list is old. I guess I will stick with it then. -
The importance of trying new foods slowly
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 7 months post RNY. I have had a piece of bread once and graham crackers multiple times. I thought no big deal lets try oatmeal. I made it with water and added a little ground flax seed. After a few bites I felt full so I stopped eating. A few hours later I was miserable and 4 hours later finally vomited it up. I felt better then worse and had a second episode. I don't know if it was just stuck or what but I don't think I will ever eat oatmeal again. Today I have had only water and about half of a premier shake. It is so frustrating to feel like you take a step back. -

Maybe, it was kind of watery but not soupy. When this happens I feel bad the whole next day. Is that normal to feel crappy once the ordeal is over 24 hours later? -

That's what I have been taking too. It was recommended by the MD and Nut. since it's only 1x day. I just looked at the chart listed above in this thread and a few that are in Procare are lower. One is Thiamin is only 3mg and the chart says 20, same with Riboflavin, folic acid and selenium. You have a sleeve so maybe it doesn't matter as much. It makes me think about using 2 different brands to make sure I am getting everything. I guess I need to go online and compare some details. -

No, I initially felt too full. Then a few hours later nauseated and pain in the middle of my back. I was shaky and needed a heating pad. My heart rate was up to the 90/100s but I think that's because I was miserable. I was really surprised that I still had that much oatmeal in my pouch hours later. I ate an ounce of steak at dinner but when i got sick 6 hours after dinner I think that had passed. I have had steak before multiple times. I tolerate ground beef, chicken etc so I was surprised that oatmeal seemed to get stuck. I was also thinking the ground flax seed would balance out the carbs. I almost finished a premier shake over the past 3 hours and now I am trying yogurt (I will try 5oz over an hour or 2). I will stick with soft foods today and know I am probably only going to get 300-400 calories in today. More burping today so it's definitely irritated. -
I guess if it is still age appropriate it would work. I think I am too wide across my shoulders for kids clothes.

I think being in the normal BMI is good however due to our extra skin and probably more muscle than the average person at the same weight I would look sick at a low end of the normal BMI. I am also now is size 4 jeans and feel like that is the lowest size I want to be. A lot of small tops fit but some are still baggie around me but tighter in the arms. I don't want to have to shop in a juniors department and would if I dropped another 10 pounds.

February 2019 weight loss buds
2Bsmaller18 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Not to be a negative Nellie but are any of you ever having bad days? Most days are fine of course you have to take the time and eat the right food etc. so it's a conscious effort still and not easy yet. I had an episode of eating too quickly and getting sick last week and then again last night when I tried oatmeal for the first time. Is it just me or have you had an easy time of it? I don't think anything is medically wrong it's just that it seems easier for a lot of you without issues. I am still in a mental state of constantly being reminded of the surgery due to the difficulty getting in enough calories (I am already in maintenance). My hubby reminds me that there are others that are 7 months out still having bad days but I feel like it's just me. OK pity party over. -

I would maybe hold off on the braces. I know sometimes if they are mid treatment and you switch insurance the new dental insurance wont pay for any of the orthodontic treatment that has already started. I am assuming you would not stay on Cobra dental for the next 2 years while your child has braces. -

I don't but the only thing I can think of is to start probiotics. You can take a pill like Culturelle or start eating Activia yogurt everyday and see if that helps. -

protein flavored water- I think you can get it at Walmart or Target. If it's too strong add some water. -
a complaint and a question about pouch stretching
2Bsmaller18 replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That is a great point. I bet that was the issue. I was thinking food poisoning to but that wouldn't cause an immediate reaction. I guess I will not be trying rice any time soon either. -

I know if I eat too much or too fast I do burp but it’s not painful, only uncomfortable. I hope you are feeling better. Maybe it was the mix of fat and spice or a certain kind of fish? -
Sorry if I am repeating myself but I feel like this is the only place I can vent my frustration and my concerns without someone rolling their eyes. I never in my life thought I would have this issue and it's freaking me out. I was concerned about losing too fast at the end of July at 136 even thought I was just into the healthy BMI. However my concern was I kept losing a steady 2-3#/week. I increased from 800 to 1000 calories and seemed to work with a little loss but bouncing around 132-134 for a few weeks. Then suddenly then past 2 weeks despite an avg of 1200 calories without increased activity I have lost 3 pounds in 10 days. So the past few days I have increased to 1300-1400 but still lost another pound this morning. I am still mid range BMI however I am looking too thin since extra skin and have big muscular leg from carrying extra weight don't factor into a standard BMI chart. I am trying to stay put around 130 but now am at 128 and don't want it to keep slipping. I think the weight gainer shake may be my next step. I just don't want it to make me feel sick. I am forcing myself to get in every bit of that 1400 calories the past few days. It is like a full time job and is now giving me food aversions. OK vent over.

Well I had taken my own advice and still lost for a week after increasing from 800-1000 calories but then maintained bouncing around 132-134 for a few weeks. Then suddenly then past 2 weeks despite an avg of 1100-1200 calories without increased activity I have lost 3 pounds this week. So the past few days I have increased to 1300-1400 but still lost another pound. Sick for 2 hours? Is it normal?
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 6 months post RNY. I have only gotten sick twice the first month after surgery from eating too fast. Both time it’s what others call dismiss but for me it a sudden gush of salamis like drooling. Tonight I had 2 ounces of chicken and a cauliflower cheese side. I think I ate at normal speed and all was fine. About an hour later I ate most of a 5 oz yogurt I’ve had before. I was almost done with it after maybe 7-8 minutes and felt full so I stopped and didn’t finish the last bites. It’s been 2 hours of nausea and an ache between my shoulder blades. That’s a common thing I feel if I eat fast or too much. Now it’s been almost 3 hours since the chicken and 2 since the yogurt and I just got the foamies and still feel nauseated but the achy pain is better. Is it normal to feel this bad hours later? -
A lesson in eating slow for the newbs

Wow. I am so sorry. I hope you feel better quickly. -
Sorry if this is TMI but did anyone else have diarrhea trying to increase calories? I am not sure if it's the general increase in fat or carbs. I thought I had a handle in trying to stay at this weight or maybe lose 5 pounds over a few months. It was working but now I am back to losing 2 pounds in 5 days. I am 5' 2.5 and now 129. I know I can still lose more and be ok however I have a lot of muscle and excess skin from prior weight gains and loses. I feel like I am getting too skinny. My face looks tired and gaunt, my wrists are so bony. Here's what I eat and I am trying to increase calories but heavy meats fill me up for hours. I have to graze all day to get this in: meals: premier shake and 5 oz of milk (1-2%) 1 egg with 1c sauté spinach using olive oil, 1-2T cheese 4oz. premade chicken salad (130 cal with 3.5f, 13g protein) 1.5 oz ground beef with 1/4 c veggies (green beans or broccoli) 1-2T cheese snacks: 1T peanut butter 1 cup of milk 1/2 c berries (divided up all day long) 1-2 servings (5 oz cups) of low sugar yogurt sometimes the one with nut butter mixed in 1/4 c pumpkin seeds or walnuts lentil crackers, nut thins crackers, or 1 sheet of graham cracker harvest snaps green pea crisps --- it all averages to 25% carbs (80g), 33% protein (97g), 40% fat (44g) for an avg. of 1100 calories I know some of the processed snacks are not the best but I am trying to increase calories and carbs without the volume. I have a hard time getting in water since I always feel like I am eating but I figure the milk and yogurt as snacks helps somewhat with fluids. Any suggestions?

Needing more protein 6 months out to help with maintence and hair loss
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
So my MD had a goal of only 60g of protein but I think I am loosing too quickly and want to increase it to hopefully stop this hair loss that I am freaking out about. I do a 30g premier shake every day then have an egg, lunch meat, tuna etc. It's just volume is an issue. I can only eat 1 egg in 15-20 min but nothing else for an hour at least. At dinner a 2oz piece of meat (ground beef chicken anything) and I am stuffed. I get in maybe a half cup of fruit or veggies during the day just to get some fiber in. I feel like I shouldn't push the volume up but I also feel like I am spending the entire day thinking about trying to get more food in small amounts all day to try and get 800 calories (trying to maintain current weight) and 60-70g protein. Ugh. I have had no stalls and still lose 2 pounds/week. I am now at a normal BMI and it's; not slowing down. I don't want to lose more. I never thought I would have that issue. I am trying to tell myself I can still lose another 10-15 pounds and that I will probably gain 10 pounds once my body settles anyway. -
Now that you are months or years out do you still feel aches or odd feelings from surgery? I’m about 7 months post RNY. Sometimes it’s a few times a day and sometimes not for days at a time I feel an ache or pressure near my belly button where one of the incisions is. It’s not pain, almost feels like an irritation from a tight waist band. I can’t see a pattern after eating certain foods etc. it’s not tender to the touch. I don’t have constipation or any other issues. I never get pain near the pouch, if I eat or drink too much or too quick I get a discomfort between my shoulder blades. If you had these odd feelings did it go away after time?
