Hey everyone! So I just had my 1 month appointment (but really I am 6 weeks out, so two more weeks of soft foods and then no restrictions according to my plan, Dr. was thrilled with my progress so far, 30lbs since surgery 50 since we met lol (yes I am back in a stall) lol but I am ok with that. I keep following my plan, the best part was she told me she was removing all restrictions (first thing I did was go home and pick up my daughter BEST FEELING EVER). She also increased my exercise goals so that was great too! I got up this morning and did 2.5 miles on the elliptical and than was treated to a bathroom surprise lol. I feel pretty good about it all, except they have said to finish out my protein drinks and buy no more... try and get protein in through just foods, So I am going to try and work out a plan, I tried to say but hey I am not hungry, she said she understands, but the liquid protein is taking a lot of room, and I may be able to eat more on days I don't have it... so we will see... over all it was a great meeting, and hopefully I will break my stall this week! Fingers crossed!

PSA ALL... Don't take vitamin on empty stomach lol why I did this today I do not know... but I threw up all over my daughters school as a result #MORTIFIED!! A trip to old navy and a Gatorade zero later and I am feeling much better! On the plus side I brought an XL top and it fits and a little loose! lol Have a great weekend all!

I am sorry you are having a tough go, try not to freak out? Did you have reflux and gerd before surgery? Reflux is very common after gastric sleeve for I believe the first 6 weeks to 3 months which is why most dr.'s prescribe a med for that to take after the sleeve. It could very well be that you found information in your portal relating to the condition of what was removed that they were able to see evidence of preexsisting gerd. I really think that if there was something to worry about they would have already called you they wouldn't have continued with the procedure etc. Try to relax and if too worried call the dr. and ask what it means.

Oh WOW many hugs I am so sorry, I would reach out to your Dr as well and talk to them about it! -
right, I really think it is healing pain, I have been sleeping on my back for the most part but your right if I lean and do different movements is when I feel it, and your right it is more of an annoying thing that a OMG is this an ER thing lol, I will keep you all posted about appointment on Monday. I did make a salmon yesterday figured I would share as it was yummy: Over all portion 1/5 fillet ends up being 285 calories 26 grams protein, 9 carb, 7 sugar and 5 fat took teaspoon of butter (really I used the lite butter and oil mix as it is lower in fats and salts) teaspoon of garlic minced warmed in a skillet for 1 minute (seasoned filet of salmon with salt and pepper) mixed lite and low sodium soy sauce 1 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon of natures own organic honey and 1 tablespoon of water poured into skillet. squeezed half a lemon into skillet and put in the salmon, cooked each side 4 minute, and then broiled on low for an additional 6 minute to brown. was amazing, one day I will add veg to it but for now just split half the fillet into two portions and rocked my protein up to 75 grams with that so I was thrilled. I had also tested previous ingredients minus the honey that was my new ingredient for the meal, but it worked out pretty well.

Muscle pain 5 weeks out? anyone so past few days I have been doing a bit more, House work, etc, nothing really heavy lifting, but been a little more active outside of my walking daily. mid day I have been having some soreness? No pain when eating or drinking, it is more when moving right along the line of where all my incisions are mid line? Is it healing pain? It has also been really cold and I find myself trying to keep warm a little more? When I go to be and wake up no problems? I am seeing the dr. Monday but wanted to see what you all have to say? TIA

I had mine done on November 6th and I am 41... so far down 50lbs from my highest weight, and grateful. I feel lucky to have gone with the doctor I had and did not have any complications... I was tired for the first few days but really set goals to get up and walk every hour there is so much truth to the walk walk walk and sip sip sip statements made, also my surgeon used a pain block sheet which lasted a few days after surgery which I think really helped with recovery and getting moving. I 100% agree with people saying get ahead of the constipation that continues to be my nemesis! lol. Good luck with the new move and your journey!

my days are pretty much the following: wake up scramble egg with a little bit of cheese mixed in. drive to work drink 24 to 32 ounces of water Protein shake, and 20 ounces of tea. Lunch- deli sliced turkey low sodium, or shrimp, or turkey meatball, or Bolognese sauce. way home from work- drink 24 to 32 ounces of water dinner- salmon (my number one choice) plus able to eat over a few meals instead of egg will have this, and then same for lunch, works out great. flounder easy peasy but my toddle and husband will share this with me, Bolognese sauce is easy to make. there is a place by me called captain chucky's and they make the best unbreaded crab cakes ever and they also do them in three ounce portions amazing. Ground turkey and gravy has gone over pretty well too. Like I said I focus on the protein first but have also tried to up some carbs have done well with cooked carrot, broc, mushroom, and beans. but I can hardly fit them in. I usually split dinner into two segments to maximize protein. Snack: slice of turkey or a shrimp (again protein lol) Bedtime usually another 16 to 24 ounces of water. my calorie intake seems to be ranging 500- 650 a day red meat even lean seems to bring it up and my carbs are ranging from 9 to 19 a day. Chicken is still hit or miss I find trying things a few times before giving up, and still trying to add in a new item, for instance each veg a day I try to make a new one. I find that when I have the higher calorie days I am having the higher carb day and I see the scale move a bit more. oh I also did the ricotta bake with ground beef in it so so so good.

Hey everyone! I see there are some great victories being posted, I am officially 50lbs down from my highest weight!! so I wanted to share with everyone too! Congrats to everyone on their personal victories as well. How is everyone doing? I am still in soft foods, but loving this stage, I am getting in a lot more protein, but need to figure out how to get space for the carbs? I did start coffee again, many of you already know my TMI issues and to be honest halfway through the cup of coffee I was in the bathroom and it was glorious, so small cup is what I am drinking and add in an extra glass of water to compensate for dehydration effects... miralax stopped working, I see my Dr next week and hopefully we can brainstorm a bit together. I am also hoping to get cleared to do a bit more activity... next week. I could stay in the stage forever lol. hope you are all doing well!

hey there, it looks like you are trying to be proactive in caring for yourself so that is a pretty great starting point! So how much water are you getting in a day, and what does it feel like? Have you tried Deli Turkey? low sodium, low fat has excellent source of protein I have found it pretty easy on the stomach. also what about sauce and ground turkey? I am thinking maybe the lighter side of meat may be easier on your tummy. tomato soup and in fairlife milk and eat a half a cup over a few portions. Eggs scrambled and you do that for snacks in between and you can make your proteins pretty close to where you want to be. if something feels to have next meal try something completely different. Your yogurt had 15 gram of protein that is great, start your day with that and an egg and you have at least 22 grams of protein right there one meal. Lunch turkey slices 4 thin and 2 slices of cheese low fat totals 23 proteins have that again for dinner and you have exceeded 60 grams of protein. hope that helps. and don't worry you got this! Happy one month!

Sounds like you are doing amazing!! I know can you believe it has been a month, to celebrate I am bringing home seafood lol I told my husband already to expect the crab! My 1st month total loss is coming in a 26.2 lbs with a total loss of 48lbs overall in a bit of a stall, but doing pretty well, I have a scrambled eg sometimes with some cheese for breakfast, protein shake when I get to work two hours later, and then for lunch I am usually doing a soup of deli meat roll ups, dinner this past week was Bolognese sauce split into two portions to maximize protein for the day. then drinking about 64 to 80 ounces of water a day... this soft food phase feels so much more manageable, still no real appetite, I eat to get the protein but I am not searching out snacks or anything which is awesome... I was able to put on a winter coat yesterday with a sweater and another shirt underneath and zip it up with room to spare this was a huge deal for me, one the coat was a xxl I have ben hanging out in 3 and 4 xl for a long time, and it was a coat my mother had bought for me two years ago, I never thought ever I would wear! so amazing. I am walking about a mile still everyday just waiting for that extra clearance to move a little more per doc and then I plan on getting up a little earlier to take advantage of the toddler still sleeping lol. Congrats on all your success already!

My plan was a little different as well, clear liquid two days, full liquids one week, puree 3 week and soft foods will be for 4 weeks then unrestricted by two months out but still want to introduce a new food everyday. you will get there each stage helps you to grow and heal.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Enjoy your Ricotta bake! I am going to make that this weekend I think but with beef in it as well. It is so nice not to blend and I am getting my proteins in so much easier. Yes I agree chew chew chew lol

Ohhhh... now I have so many questions
paddyski replied to Excited for a new me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went back after 5 days they said if I wasn't taking pain meds and felt I could turn they were fine with it, I took a total of two pain pills after I was home and been moving forward every since. Listen to you body and do what is right for you! -
That is awesome! I don't keep the WLS a secret but I don't broadcast it either, I feel fortunate in that I have a lot of supportive people around me, and it is funny I remember talking to one of my neighbors and she was like telling me how great it is and then she said something else that really sat with me, she said if you don't share what your going through how are you ever going to get support when you need it? It really resonated, As people we can be so fearful of other peoples opinions (don't get me wrong we might not all share the same train of thought), but I sat down and was like how many times am I over in corner struggling to keep things together that are tough, when a burden shared is so much easier to carry when you share it if that makes any sense. I just love that you are holding yourself accountable and wish you a lot of luck on your journey!

hey there- so I miscalculated my days and was able to start already lol so I started and it is so nice to put away the blender lol... what was good for you on purees? I had a hard time with chicken so beef and turkey were good to me blended, so soft food I have done a Bolognese sauce added in some cheese and have been doing great with that. I was a little short on protein so I got a low sodium turkey deli slice and put a little bit of cheese for a roll up and was able to make protein goals with that. Remember try to add a new item everyday. Small bites and chew chew chew. go back to purees if struggling. I may make one egg but only eat half eat. my Dog is grateful I get full fast lol. You got this!
-
does it hurt when you eat or drink? ask that if it is not when was the last time you had a BM? and lastly you do have internal stiches as well that are healing, when I was three weeks out I experienced something similar for a few days but it was healing. if it is too painful or you have a lot of concerns I always say best to call the doctor.
-
Yes I agree getting your water up would probably be best. I recently saw someone made their own ice popsicles and were able to increase water from that? Maybe worth a shot? I think what helps me is filling up a 32 ounce cup on my way to and from work that gets me my 64 right there and then anything else is bonus. Any chance you can up your protein to 45 or 50 grams? Either way you are doing what you doctor has said and you have to stick with it, you will break it soon, I am slowly coming out of mine, my requirements right out of the gate were 60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water... I upped my protein to 72 for two days and water up to 80 and lost 1lb, and have been losing a little bit each day so I think my scale is moving at least lol. You will get there!

what stage are you in puree or soft? and how much protein are you taking in a day?

Anyone NOT taking their vitamins?
paddyski replied to sleeveme7781's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there- I have had a tough time with the vitamins, but taking them with a few adjustments from my doctor because of issues I am having. but I will say this, you may need to find the right combo are you still taking chewable? if so can you talk to you dr about a different one you can take? my doctor told me that the first three months it is so important to take the vitamins, and Ideally that we should continue taking them, realistically she mentioned she has a lot of sleeve patients who stop taking them. good luck and talk to you dr and nut! -
I hope you feel better soon, and I would call you dr. just to check in and tell them about the pass out feeling.
