I have a health app on my phone. It has every food possible and amount. 1/2 cup, 1 cup etc. I punch in everything that goes into my mouth on this app. It keeps a running daily total. My doctor told me to start keeping track of my calorie intake. So I did he told me to start at 1300 calories so I did 1300 for a week didn't lose. So I went down to 1200 for a week. I kept going each week until 900 calories. 900 seemed to be my sweet spot. -

Hello everyone. This is just a few thoughts I have almost 1 1/2 years post op. This was the best decision I could of made for myself. Granted I am still not at my goal weight. However I have not gained any back and I know if I want to get to my goal I will need to put a little more effort into it again. Which mostly is just getting back to the basics of what we are told to do right from the beginning, Eat healthy, and get your butt moving. lol I know several others who have had this surgery some are a complete success others have failed and are gaining weight rapidly back. Some have taken their tool/ gift and have used it wonderfully and are healthy and happy and continue to follow the rules they were given and agreed to follow. Their hard work shows how much they appreciate what they have been given. Others I know have snubbed the rules, they drink soda, eat chocolate by the bag, I watched one friend sit and eat an entire bag of Cheetos then say "I don't know why I'm gaining weight". She was not happy when I said " because you just ate entire bag of Cheetos and washed it down with a soda" This surgery is a tool we have been fortunate enough to have. Just like any tool if you abuse it or use it other then what it is designed for. Its not going to work!! So this week I started counting my calories again. I learned early my calorie threshold for consistent healthy weight lose was 900 calories per day. Most people are higher but unfortunately mine is not. And really if you think about it 900 is easy, especially because my pouch is small. I have not stretched it out. And I have lost 3lbs this week, so GOAL WEIGHT I'm coming for you!!!!

Nothing with bubbles. No soda mixed drink or beer. My personal drink to sip on is vodka and peach schnapps on the rocks. I sip very slowly. You do have to be careful we are lightweights now.

My Dr said yellow, clay color is normal. He also said consistency varies among people. When I eat kale it turns really green. If I eat something a little fatty it appears greasy/oily.

They didn't stay away from Soda. Once they healed they were right back to it. I have eyes they are definitely gaining it back. Maybe they stretched their pouch.

I work with someone who had the sleeve, they are gaining their weigh back after a year and a half. I am 6 months out and have absolutely no regrets with my RNY. To have long tern success you have to follow the rules. Also from my own research the RNY has much better long term results.

The surgeon who did my proceedure put me on shots to thin my blood as soon as I came out of surgery. I had to inject myself twice a day for 2 weeks. He said it was standard proceedure. I guess it is not according to your story I'm sorry this happened to you. All the best through your journey from here forth.

what's the worse things about bypass
FaithandHope replied to BucksMum99's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I also had a lap band years ago. It did not work at all. I had it removed just 2 years after it was put in. I had RNY bypass In Sept 2018. I am down about 60 lbs and I don't regret any of it at all. I feel great. My husband feels like he has his wife back. My weight was killing me I could do almost nothing. I was exhausted, depressed and hated myself. Things are so much better -

Type 1 Diabetic Wondering How to Survive Low Blood Sugars after RNY
FaithandHope replied to Gottajustdoit's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am hypoglycemic. But I have found that if I keep sipping on my protien shake I never have a problem with my blood sugar slipping to low. I do not take insulin but My sister does. She adjusts her dose according to her readings. She finds that her sugar does not jump to a high level anymore because after RNY sugar and sugary foods are a huge NO. NO. And we are taught to get our proteins in first If you keep your sugars at an even level using consistent protein shake/ protien liquid intake you will be fine. In the beginning you may may have to check your blood sugar levels often, but keep sipping that protien any liquid ( accept caffeinated drinks) goes toward your daily liquid intake.
