I saw this thread was bumped and literally thought, "I wonder when some of us are going to start losing our hair?" I haven't lost any yet, but I'm nervous. I do eat a ton of protein. How many calories a day are you eating?

Can you go see your surgeon or dietician from your surgery and ask for help? -
I’m three months out. I still drink them. Sometimes I make my own with protein powder. If someone wanted me to stop, they would have to have a really good reason.
-
A lot of people have unusual hormonal responses to the surgery and some people suffer from depression afterwards. If you don't feel better in a fews weeks, you might want to talk to a therapist. But feeling cruddy right now is totally normal.
-
It will get better soon! A lot of the discomfort is probably from the anesthesia and pain medication. I spent two nights in the hospital and felt pretty badly for about a week after surgery and then I felt much better! After two weeks I was back at my office, feeling OK. A few weeks out and you probably won't even remember how badly you felt, you'll be watching pounds drop off.

GASTRIC SLEEVE and HERBAL LIFE
JessLess replied to Emerito.h305's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no idea how good/bad herballife products are for you but they barely dodged a huge lawsuit for engaging in illegal multi-level marketing aka being a pyramid scheme, and I would stay far away from that. The only person who makes money in a pyramid scheme is the guy/gal who comes up with it and is at the top. I also think they take advantage of SAHMs, military spouses, and other people who have trouble working traditional jobs and don't deserve to get ripped off. -
Down 1 lb. Physical therapy 2x Treadmill 1x
-
Good news, you won't die if you don't eat for a few days. For now, I would just try to get home, drink as much clear liquid as you can, different temperatures might help, take your pain meds, and don't worry about the bigger picture. You'll likely feel a lot better in a week. Good luck!

I'm up a lb. for the first time since surgery. I also have my period. Has this happened to others? It's "just a pound" but I am not happy.

I'm in. Here's my start picture 1_2_19 216 lbs. Jan goals: More physical therapy More Treadmill

JessLess replied to xMissyChrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Pharmacy issues with getting pain meds filled
JessLess replied to Coexister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This. I take Tramadol for my back and CVS had filled both that and Percocet for me without issue. -
I feel more attractive but I get my picture taken at work a fair amount for social media and I can't see the difference enough for me yet. Who is that still fat person? I just respond with "thank you" to compliments and it took practice. But any compliment given that implies I looked like **** when I was heavier enrages me, and it was the same last time I lost weight.

I've been making 4 oz turkey burgers, 4 oz chicken patties, (no buns, of course) etc. and that seems the right amount for a meal for me. I should be eating slower but I eat pretty quickly.

Please help me, I have terrible regret RNY
JessLess replied to RuthD's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have empathy for your regret and I hope you find a therapist/psychologist/social worker who specializes in weight related issues to talk to. But neither of us knows how you will feel for the rest of your life! Forgive yourself and move forward. (hugs) -
Support and honesty needed
JessLess replied to ShrinkingTN- hopefully's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just going to touch on the parts about whether it will work. I'm 48 and perimenopausal so my metabolism is slow. I don't exercise very much beyond physical therapy and walking because my back is messed up. When my back was better, I saw a number of personal trainers. They helped me get in shape, but not lose much weight. I've found it relatively easy to lose 34+ lbs. in 2 1/2 months, much faster than on any other diet I have ever been on. I'm rarely nauseous and I've thrown up 2x since I got the surgery. I was very adept at using 2 oz. cups to make sure I didn't consume too much when I was healing. Now I eat pretty normally, just a lot less, less carbs, and more protein. I think WLS has changed a lot and some people have ideas based on older types of WLS surgery that weren't as easy to live with. Whatever you decide, good luck! -
Loose stools and lots of gas in pipes while moving bowels
JessLess replied to Coexister's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They are going to be a lot smaller since you are eating less. I think you can take GasX, might want to check with your surgeon's office. Otherwise, sounds pretty normal. -

Where do you find your vitamin supplements?
JessLess replied to paulamelton's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a crazy, long vitamin list by specific brand and I just get them all on Amazon. NO GUMMIES Multivitamin w/minerals (Centrum or One-A-Day) B12 (I get monthly shots at my PCP because TOO MANY PILLS!) Calcium Vivactiv brand 630 mg 3x a day Vitamin D Iron Vitron-C (cool side effect, green poop) This on top of my normal meds is enough that I have to use an app to manage it. You can't take iron and calcium within 2 hours of each other. The app is called Medisafe. -
I'm losing so much more than I did on EVERY OTHER DIET I have tried that it doesn't seem slow to me. I think everyone is doing awesome.
-
That's wild. I was taking my antidepressants the day after my surgery. Just goes to show... doctors are amusing.
-
Any extended release drug may not work as well. You might talk to your doctor about continuing with it and supplementing it with additional non-extended release Wellbutrin if appropriate.

My NutriBullet NBR-1201 was a life-changing purchase. I freeze almond milk in ice cube trays or add frozen fruit to a vanilla protein shake instead of ice. The texture is great.

Clothing while you're losing weight
JessLess replied to xMissyChrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EBay, if you know what size you are now in some designers. Look for sellers that take returns. I'm buying the minimum since I don't know where I will end up. Baggy dresses and leggings can hold up through a few size changes. -
Stigma may keep people from getting weight loss surgery
JessLess replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My PCP, a relatively young woman, recommended the VGS to me. It took me about a year to decide to do it, after watching several friends have successful VGS procedures. My psychiatrist, a Yale doctor in his 80s told me he thought it was a great idea when I asked him. He knew I had lost 80 lbs on Phentermine, fought to keep it off, and gained it back. He told me he recommended it to other patients. My BMI was 40 and I had zero push back from the medical community. And about it being the easy way out? I pay someone to clean my house. I just ordered groceries to be delivered. I don't think this is the easy way out, but if it is, BRING IT.
