    Food Shaming!

"Is that all you're eating?" Why do you ask? "Don't you like the food?" Why do you ask? They will give up.

    Regrets?

The OP is capable of researching mortality rates. They were asking for people's personal experiences. Stop being so aggressive and hateful.
  3. We don't speak rudely to members on here. I see you are new and obviously were not aware. Please knock it off.

    Regrets?

I had a gastric sleeve surgery almost two years ago. No complications, no regrets.

I assume she wet or pooped a bit in bed. I didn't ask for a lot of detail.
  6. I just made a virtual appointment with my dietician. Good luck to you!
  7. Oh, sorry! I would have liked to have attended. Again, sorry for the assumption.
  8. @Alex Brecher you planned it during Rosh Hashana so it is impossible for me and any of your observant Jewish members to attend.
  9. I used to get that a lot before I got the sleeve. It's disappeared! One of the extra bonuses. I think I generally ate more calories than a lot of people though, more like 1,000 a day after a few months.
  10. I lost 80 lbs. at 50. The only skin that bothers me is under my arms and my lower abdomen. I looked at my stomach and some pictures of stomachs of women who had babies and decided it looked fine, so no surgery for me. My arms, though... I would imagine weightlifting would help.
  11. I put my vitamins in a little one ounce cup, like a medicine cup and toss them back. I think this would work well with one big one too. If I'm having trouble I take them with a thick liquid like protein shake or tomato juice. Full stomach is a good idea.
  12. I'm going to address the feeling full issue. You can't trust if for a while, so measure your intake carefully. Eventually you might get a "full" signal that you can recognize, but some people never do. It can take everyone (WLS or not) up to 20 minutes to feel full once you start to eat. You don't want to keep eating when you are full, so eating very slowly is good.
  13. My guess would be water retention and post surgical weirdness. My suggestion is to focus more on drinking water and weigh yourself less often.

    Protein shakes

I like Premier Protein Shakes, sorry Alex.
  15. Aggressive is what they call assertive women. Ya got that right.
  16. In other news, I had the same surgery as you through the very highly rated program at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA and they recommended Premier Protein shakes, which I liked, so reasonable people can disagree on this issue.
  17. In the future, if you like, that's when you can tell a medical professional that they are being inappropriate and to stop crossing boundaries or you will walk out.
  18. I was allowed either 2 protein shakes and a lean cuisine type meal, or 1 shake and 2 lean cuisines up until, I think, the day before. Just get back on the horse, I think you'll be fine.
  19. You could be direct. My cousin's husband ALWAYS comments on my weight to the point that it's inappropriate. He said something at my father's funeral and I said, COULD WE NOT TALK ABOUT MY WEIGHT? I suggest: MYOB or Roller derby

Should I get a case nurse

You go girl. Glad your parents are being supportive.

Should I get a case nurse

What does your health insurance company say? Who would pay for a nurse case manager?
  22. I spent a long time as a Health At Any Size (HAES) advocate, and still am. I questioned whether getting WLS was something a feminist should do. This article by Roxane Gay really helped me decide that if I wanted to intentionally lose weight, getting WLS was a valid choice, and probably the only thing that would work long term in my case. I wrote her a thank you email after my surgery and got a really nice response. Maybe the article will help you with your decision too.

Don't buy a case of anything unless you decide it's not gross. Your taste may change after the surgery. I also bought some bed pads since one of my friends needed them after surgery. I ended up giving them away. I drank a lot of Premier Protein Shakes and water at first. I bought some plastic 2 oz. cups, since that was all I was supposed to have at first. I used them.
  24. It may cut your chances of insurance paying for it. But not of you getting it. They may decide to test you for sleep apnea anyway. I had Harvard Pilgrim and for me (and people who self pay) the process was super fast. I got my surgery about 2 months after I decided I wanted it.
  25. It's much better than it was, and my capacity to eat is less. I count calories and come on here almost every day to remind myself what motivated me to get the surgery and lose the weight. There was a support group at my hospital, but with COVID, it's online and not as motivating.
