My doctor recommended Yoplait Light right after my surgery. I couldn’t handle Greek yogurt for the first few weeks.

It wouldn't hurt for a couple of days, but hard to track if you are only weighing monthly.

The nausea is of some concern. Have you called your surgeon? I can do 100 of protein if I add a shake, protein drinks like Isopure, and protein chips I buy on here. For the constipation I take Colace 1-3x a day and just added Fleet Liquid Glycerin Suppositories and Benefiber Fiber Supplement Powder to my regimen. I hate stimulant laxatives because they give me stomach cramps, so this is my plan to avoid them entirely.

I was eating under 800 and since I've gone up to 1,000-1,200 I've been losing faster. I jumped from a size 18 plus to a size 16 regular VERY quickly.

I have a business trip coming up and I went to Talbot’s in person to get some help figuring out what size suit was going to work. Before surgery I was 20W. I thought I was an 18W and I’m a straight size 16!

How’d you Choose? Sleeve v.s. Bypass?
JessLess replied to NotActive1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon recommends the sleeve for anyone who has no GERD issues. -
Was there a pivotal moment that made you say I’m doing this?
JessLess replied to Imnotpicky's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve had a lot of friends who have had various types of WLS and as a yo-yo dieter I’ve thought about it for years. Then my degenerative disc disease became serious chronic pain. I sought out a better PCP to talk about the pain and my weight and she recommended WLS. As a health at any size activist and feminist, I said “no way.” Then I read about Roxanne Gay’s surgery. My back got worse. I started representing the company I work for at conventions and they put my pictures all over social media. Pictures where I was usually trying to hide my middle. One more friend got a VGS and lost 100 lbs. I talked to her and met with the surgeon shortly after. -
Buy your own food and cook for yourself. Since they are weight obsessed, If anyone suggests you eat or don't eat something, say "thanks" and then eat what you planned to eat. My husband and I do some separate shopping and cooking now and it's worked out OK. He cooked all the time before the surgery, and sometimes he will make something I can eat, like plain chicken, and I just weigh 4 oz. and thank him and eat it.

A scale isn't the best way to measure progress anyway, it's just the easiest way.

I've read about 6 months. I haven't lost any yet. I had to quit Biotin. It made my nails very strong and lovely but was giving me hair in undesired places.

Calorie goal for first 2 weeks?
JessLess replied to Sheribear68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never had a calorie goal from my nutritionist since surgery. Just to get my water and protein in. We talk about what to eat but not calories. Initially my calorie intake was quite low, like under 500. -
Some people lose some of their hair. Search for the term "telogen effluvium." This happens at 3 months up to a year, but seldom lasts for over 6 months. It can happen after any major stress or surgery, from a hormone imbalance, and low calorie intake, amongst other things. I'm at month 4 with no hair loss.

I was sleeved 10/15/18 and it's been very smooth. I was working from home at my desk job after a week and back in my office after 2 weeks. My sleeve was a single incision (through my belly button). My surgeon told me they usually only recommend that if your BMI is 35 or less but mine was 40. I have degenerative disc disorder too and my back has been better since losing 45 lbs. I think it has gone smoothly because my program was awesome and I followed almost everything they told me to do. I take all my vitamins, took Ursodiol to prevent gallstones (which you don't have to worry about) and took Omeprazole to prevent GERD. I have thrown up 3x but each time it was from eating too fast (I thought there was always room for Jello!) and really my fault. I have had zero hours of regret.

Let's Get The Duodenal Switch People Together
JessLess replied to Elisabethsew's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
My friend has DS. I will see if I can lure her over here. -
You got sleeved over a month after me and I just started hitting 1000 calories. It was through adding bariatric snacks I bought on here and Amazon.

When did you stop using shakes?
JessLess replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might do better with Isopure iced tea? Some people like to mix it half and half with water. It's thick. It comes in other flavors but I like this one best. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00457K6WQ/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -
When did you stop using shakes?
JessLess replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For some reason I was craving smoothies and milkshakes all last summer, long before I had surgery. I bought a NutriBullet (Thanks Dr. V.) and I mix a protein shake or protein powder and another liquid with fruit and even spinach and avocado sometimes. No plans to stop. -
I eat nuts fine but not often because they have a lot of calories and are something I've overeaten in the past.

Need breakfast ideas - what are you eating for bf?
JessLess replied to indacrucible's topic in Food and Nutrition
I eat 1 scrambled egg with 1 ounce of lox (smoked salmon) mixed in. Then I have four ounces of tomato juice to wash down my morning pills. A thicker liquid makes taking my pills a lot easier. If I’m on the road, yogurt and a little fruit. -
Dr Vuong seminars, who has been, what are they about?
JessLess replied to elcee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think people like him because he says not to exercise. ;) -
I’ve found it best not to compare myself to other people in this and most areas of life.
-
I would call your surgeon and ask for help. I'm sure they want to get the show on the road, so to speak.
-
That's a good one.
-
I had to buy smaller underwear! Yay!

Mine was super brief. I think it was to make sure I didn't have an eating disorder. I see a psychiatrist so as long as I planned to keep seeing him, they were fine with that. They also warned me that some people get depressed post-surgery.
