I usually go to a personal trainer to get some guidance on functional movement as well as lifting. Also, I actually go if I have an apt. I do 30 min. to save $ and then go on my treadmill alone.

Absolutely. Especially right after surgery I really wanted my surgeon's approval that I was doing things right, which probably helped me stay on plan but was kind of unusual for me. I usually don't care that much what people think.

Post op Fatty liver question, no help from doctors
JessLess replied to HopefullXOXOXO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, MGH is one of the top hospitals. I was very surprised they weren’t being more helpful. -
What are your favorite foods for the best nutrition?
JessLess replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I like @FluffyChix list and am adding sashimi (sushi without rice), because it's a good thing to eat out, lobster, Chilean sea bass, lower cal. trail mixes with nuts and dried berries in small amounts, unsweetened almond milk, and she included most of the other things I eat. My favorite breakfast: One egg scrambled with fat-free cheddar cheese, one slice turkey bacon, 3 strawberries, a small glass of tomato juice to take my pills, and coffee because I am not perfect. Not sure where to start?

I don't think you failed! I agree with the poster above, find a good PCP, if you don't have one now, dietician, and bariatric surgeon, and tell them about your concerns. See what they think. -
Post op Fatty liver question, no help from doctors
JessLess replied to HopefullXOXOXO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@HopefullXOXOXO, since your program is being pretty useless, you may want to call mine at Newton Wellesley and ask for referrals. My surgeon is in my profile. I hope they can help you! -
Please call your surgeon on Monday or asap and discuss it with them.

I look at every food as will it help my goals or not. There are no bad foods, just some unhelpful foods. Light coconut milk has the same calories as whole milk with no vitamins. It's not a good source of protein. I would look at almond milk instead.

Feedback please!! Sleeve verses bypass
JessLess replied to Nomorepasta's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got a sleeve. If I had had GERD, I would have gotten a bypass. My surgery went great. It's been 13 months and I only got nauseous right after surgery if I ate too much. I haven't had any reflux or complications and I can eat small amounts of carbs or sugar, like a roll or Skinny Cow ice cream, without dumping syndrome. -
Dinner Food Recommendations : Low carb and Tasty
JessLess replied to Billowyfungus's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I bought a shrimp platter to use as hors d’oeuvres last night. Not too many were eaten so today I made shrimp curry. Shrimp Small onion Garlic to taste Brocolli Mushrooms Vegetable stock I took the tails off the shrimp and cut the vegetables up and mixed them in a stirfry pan and heated them up in vegetable stock. First onions and garlic, then broccoli, mushrooms, and shrimp last. Then I added soy sauce, cumin, curry, and cayenne pepper and let it cook down. I've had good luck making things I used to make as stir-fries in vegetable or meat stock instead of oil. -

6 months post op- Nervous! Need your experience!
JessLess replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At that stage, I broke many stalls by increasing my calories slightly if I was exercising. I'm still losing after a year. -
Post op sleeve nerve issues ?
JessLess replied to Rolltide87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please get in to see your doctor asap. Good luck! -
Yes, and I get plenty of calories, protein, water, vitamins, etc. It's mostly first thing in the morning and I just steady myself on the wall. I've talked to my dr. and decided it's not a big deal.

I use Baritastic. It's designed for WLS patients. Before, I used MyFitnessPal. Both worked fine, although it would be nice if you could use Baritastic on a laptop instead of just the app.

I think it's really too early to worry about it or know how you are going to lose in the future. Your body is still healing from the surgery. At 14 days, my main concerns would be getting my water and protein in. If you follow your plan, chances are very high that you will meet your goal.

Best Non-invasive TX for Wrinkles/Lines on Face & Neck
JessLess replied to simplyamyj's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I use the Predermine line from Darphin. It's massively overpriced so I buy it here. I think eventually I might try fillers and botox, but these are helping. -
Gastric bypass or sleeve
JessLess replied to laura071693's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You don't see sleeve patients who don't have GERD and don't want revisions because why would we talk about that? Congratulations on your successful surgery. Since you are calling other people out on "lies" when they disagree with you, please cite a credible source that the sleeve gives you a 50% chance of GERD getting worse. Most good doctors would not give someone a sleeve if they HAD GERD knowing what we now know. -
Thanksgiving plate pictures
JessLess replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it at 6 weeks out last year. I put a little spoon of everything on my plate, ate some mushy things and kind of played around with the rest. If anyone noticed, they didn't ask. How are you feeling? Hope you are doing well! -
I'd recommend double-checking with your surgeon or dietician over advice from strangers online.

"I’m also hoping for some encouraging words for this surgery. I hope I’m making the right decision. I have this fear that I’ll feel nauseous for the rest of my life and I won’t be able to enjoy food ever again." I had sleeve surgery 13 months ago. I was only nauseous briefly less than 5 times in the week following surgery. I enjoy food a lot, just in smaller quantities and some of the foods I eat have changed. Most of the things we worry about don't happen. Good luck!

@sideeye, I'm not there yet. I think I might need to track and weigh for the rest of my life. I'm cool with that, though. Good post.

WLS YouTubers
JessLess replied to StrongButterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Dr. Vuong no longer performs surgery. He sells MLM products (pyramid scheme) to vulnerable people who are easier to rip off. There are few things more corrosive to my opinion of a person than hearing them pitch an MLM. A lot of folks are just naive, but this move by Dr. V. just seemed so calculated. What kind of person does that? Nobody I want to take any sort of advice from, at the very least. -
I liked yogurt, mashed potatoes, mashed avocados, mashed banana, jello, whitefish salad, tuna salad, etc.
