    port incision

I had the same experience and they said it was just swelling. I had enough belly fat that you could not see it when I was standing up, but if I layed down you could see the bump and you could nicely cup your hand over it - maybe not quite like a tennis ball, but similar. I am about 2 months out and the swelling has gone down a lot be if I eat too much, you can still feel a bump there. Now it is more like an egg - or half of a hard boiled egg. They said after I had my one month check up that the swelling probably would not be there the next time, but when I went back again, there was still some but they were not concerned.

    Acckk!! A week away!

I know what you mean as far as being so attached to food... unfortunately you will still stuggle with it afterwards, you will just suffer more unpleasant side effects and keep with this support group - it is really helping me. I was really struggling until I hooked up with this and everyone on here is so motivating! It is wonderful. I wonder if I will ever be free of the "hold" food has on me, but I sure hope it does. For a couple of weeks after I had my surgery, I felt like I was in control, but then once I started eating food again, I started to push the envelop, but now I feel like I am starting to get back in control again. Good luck to you.

    Hello

I just had my surgery on September 10 and have lost 10 pounds. I am having problems keeping motivated and reading the postings on this group seems to help... unlike some people, I don't have other family members to keep me motivated and although they want me to succeed, they really have no idea what it is like for me. I don't blame them, but it is nice to see what others that have had it done have to day.

    Wanna Be Looking For Advice

I live in MN so the who and where probably won't do you any good. I had it done as outpatient... went into the hospital at 10:00 am and left about 6:30 pm or so. The pain med they prescribed was tylnol w/codiene but I was affraid the codiene would make me sick so I just took extra strength tylnol... the pain was not so bad, but the surgery set me back more than I had anticipated... I thought it would be a walk in the park because when I had my appy, it was nothing. This was a little more than that. It was not so bad though and is worth it. I actually worked the next day but my job is not strenuous at all - basically just talking, but that was really too soon because I had to do a lot of standing around waiting and not resting when I needed too. I then took the following three days off and then back to work. My doctor had me go 4 days (counting the day of surgery) on Clear liquids... it was fine until the last day when I was really feeling like I could use some food... then it was full liquids and that was much better. then soft foods - which was actually a little more difficult then the full liquids because I think I tried to push it a little and tried things not really as soft as it could be... that would cause some pain and seemed to cause some more swelling. Good luck with your decision and follow the rules - that helps me the mose.
