  1. I ate a piece of bacon during my pre-op diet and it. was. Magnificent. Then I felt super guilty. 🙈🥓

    Day 2 Post Op

Yikes, you guys! This large left port site is really uncomfortable. Walking is so hard and I have to do it as often as possible. I can barely keep my pain medication down and anything much large than that is a no go. Intellectually, I know this will pass but could you guys, who have gone through it, reassure me? I’m feeling pretty rotten right now.
  3. Have you tried eating fish? It has a less dense consistency and may go down more easily.
  4. Oh @amanda-xo it is so easy for someone who hasn’t walked this path to say tone deaf things like that. It can be discouraging, even if it was rooted in good intentions. Shake it off, if you can. You should be proud of yourself right now. You’re advocating for yourself and seeking out support, which is so hard. Reach out to friends, family, and other loved ones who aren’t so judgey and tap them as a resource. You also have us here.

    Day 2 Post Op

@Spellbound the tea helped so much! Thank you! I can’t sleep on my side yet but am looking forward to not being flat on my back when I sleep. I hope you’re still feeling well!

    Day 2 Post Op

Feeling much improved @MargoCL. Those first couple of days are no joke though, especially at night when I only had my thoughts for company. 😣
  7. I’ve been dreaming of what I will do when the worst of the pain subsides and I no longer fit my jeans. I only own 3 pair and they are all maternity jeans. (My child is almost two.) While I greatly appreciate them serving their purpose, I look forward to burning them as a reward for all my hard work during this process. Do any of you have anything like this planned?

    Eventual Celebration

    Wow! That’s a lot of shirts, @Matt Z!
  9. Hi Guys, three days post op now and running into difficulty swallowing. Thin, clear liquids are okay but come with the requisite gas and pain. My pills are another story. I’m only able to keep down tiny ones but crushing them and taking them with applesauce, which is a real challenge on its own because the taste tries my gag reflex. The big ones? Forget it. I honestly think they are too solid, too soon but the ones I am referring to are my multiple vitamin and calcium + vitamin D. This can’t go on and I am not sure how to proceed. Do any of you use a vitamin patch?

    Difficulty swallowing.. anything.

I have to agree with your providers. When the choice is get sick and probably dehydrated taking them or waiting a while, I choose to wait. I actually ordered some Vitamin Patches to tide me over until I can swallow better. Thank you for the response!

What did you tell people at work?

I was pretty straightforward about it at work. I explained that I’d worked long enough with endocrine disorders to know I didn’t want type 2 diabetes. I wanted to live a longer, healthier life than what was down the road for me if nothing changed. Everone seemed pretty understanding.

    Ticker?

Hey ladies! I was wondering, how do I get one of those cute tickers so many posters have? I so want one! Thank you!

    Ticker?

One of those pictures that shows in people’s posts that indicates their weight loss progress; some have runners, others have mermaids, etc.

I am very worried that I may need help.

You poor thing! I really hope you’re feeling better now. Dehydration really makes you feel off and vomiting doesn’t help. Be kind to yourself in these moments and don’t hesitate to ask questions/make requests of your doctors and nurses. They are there to guide and serve, after all!

    Pre op diet problems

Hi there! Yes, normal and does improve with time. Since you are in Ireland and aren’t sure what powerade and gatorade are, the equivalent would be something like the drinks athletes use to rehydrate after workouts/marathons/etc. They can be in sugar free varieties, with many different flavors and colors. The sugar free versions work double duty to not only meet your fluid requirements but also replenish electrolytes and hopefully perk you up a bit. I hope this helps!
