    Albuquerque Support Group

Hello! Thanks for your reply. The group at Northside meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. The meeting starts at 6:30 and is over at 8pm. Their e-mail is ABQNBB@yahoo.com. You can join that forum also if you wish. I am so sorry I cannot come this evening. I am off to El Paso at 7:45 since I have an 8am appointment tomorrow for my first fill. I used Providence Sierra Bariatric Center in El Paso with Dr. Bruce Applebaum. All went very well. I hope we can meet sometime and perhaps drive to the support group together...I will probably go to Northside the first week of July on Wednesday if you are interested. I do intend to attend the Corrales group in the future. I am excited to know there are several of us lapbanders here in town. For future fills I think I am going to use Dr. Cronk at Encino Imaging Center. My daughter is in the medical field and she highly recommended him. Also he does all of his fills under flureoscopy (sp). I will be happy not to travel out of town for this again. :Angel_anim: At least it seems we will have some choices for the fills! Marian

    Albuquerque Support Group

Hi everyone! I got my band, (AP small) in El Paso last month. I will not be able to attend this meeting, as I am going back there on Thursday the 26th for my first fill on June 27th. I live in the NE heights around Wyoming and Comanche. Even though Corrales is a little far for me, I might be able to attend once in a while. Please let me know when the next meeting will be. I have noticed that most WLS groups have a lot more folks who underwent gastric bypass as opposed to lap band. I am very happy with my choice. I have not met anyone at the other support group meeting that meets at Northside Presbyterian on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday that has had the the lap band done. So glad to know you all are close by!

    Fill Doctor in New Mexico?

There is a Dr. Cronk. I believe he is at Encino Imaging Center in Albuquerque, and I know that he does the fills here in town.

    We Need a Support Group

Hi! I don't know if you are still looking for a Doc to do the fills, but there is a Dr. Cronk, at Encino Imaging that does the fills. Hope all is going well for you!

Hi! I was banded on May 7 in El Paso with Dr. Applebaum at Southwest Bariatrics, and I too, live in Albuquerque:smile:. I had very little pain and am doing well. I just started soft foods today. I will have the first fill in June. I was wondering if it was painful and did you notice a big difference right away? Thanks!
  8. Hi! I received my band last Tuesday (May 7) in El Paso at Southwest Bariatrics with Dr. Bruce Applebaum. I had the best care, and was up and moving only hours after the proceedure. There are NO bariatric surgeons here. Closest ones are in El Paso, Lubbock, Phoenix or Colorado. Good Luck!! If your insurance covers it (mine did) they propably have a network surgeon in mind that they use.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello! I was banded on Tuesday in El Paso with Dr. Applebaum at Southwest Bariatrics. I felt good after surgery and was up and walking as soon as they had me in a room. I was only in the hospital overnight and am back in Albuquerque as of yesterday. Other than a sore shoulder, I had no pain. I am on a liquid diet and have a follow up appointment next week. I just turned 60 in April, but fortunately have been healthy. I am excited about this new tool I will be able to use.
  10. Hi! Anyone else from New Mexico have the AP Lap Band? I am using Dr. Bruce Applebaum in El Paso, Texas, as there are no bariatric surgeons in New Mexico. We have to go to either Phoenix or El Paso. el Paso is a lot closer. I have been approved and am looking forward to this. Just wondering if anyone else has had the AP Lap Band and/or used Dr. Applebaum. Thanks!
