I was banded on August 1 at Rex Hospital. I was wheeled into the operating room at 8:42 am and I notice a car stereo in the wall with speakers. I only thought to myself “I wonder what music my doctor will be playing while he is installing the band.” I was strapped down to the table and told to breathe in the mask. I don’t even remember breathing in. I awoke around 11:00. I was very groggy and in severe discomfort. Not really pain. I was given morphine and then the shakes came. I could not get warm. I was then given demoral and then a shot of something for nausea. By 12:45 I was wheeled out the hospital and into my car for the ride home. After getting home, I just went to sleep for a while. I then took some Lortab and felt really good. Walked around the house and nap on and off for the day. Saturday, August 2, was the most painful day so far. It was mostly gas in my shoulders and upper stomach area. My port area is really sore. My step mom came over and kept my daughter overnight which was a blessing. My husband and I went to Wal-Mart to walk around some and to get my Gas X strips. I didn’t realize that it was Tax-free weekend and every school supply shopper was out in full force. We managed to get what we needed and to get out pretty fast. Sunday, August 3, was great. I woke up feeling refreshed and some gas pains. My port area is now every color of the rainbow and really sore. I wanted to go for a walk before it got hellishly hot outside. I walked for about a mile and it took my 30 minutes. After that I passed out in the bed for 2 hours. For the rest of the day I sipped on protein bullets mixed with water and ALL bran fiber water dink mix. I don’t feel hungry at all yet. Or least what felt like hunger before being banded. I hear my stomach rumbling but I don’t know if that is gas or hunger. I practice sipping every 15 minutes and managed to get down 60 oz of water and 50 grams of protein. Today is Monday, August 04, and I continue to feel better. My husband went back to work today and I am home alone. I took a 2 mile walk today. I will continue to sip on some protein water and just take it easy. My weight loss journey has started.

Best Wishes to our 1st Band Buddies

I took my walk outside. It was a little hot but I walked slow and it really helped the gas. It did make me tired - but I really feel great. I only take the pain meds at night. For the most part I would describe the pain a discomfort and soreness - not sharp pains at all. Good Luck to all the upcoming surgeries. -
What a great post Lana!

Best Wishes to our 1st Band Buddies
Claudine1975 replied to Lanakila's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys - I was banded on Friday and everything went very well. I was not in too much pain waking up from the surgery. Actually, I didn't feel pain until Saturday. I would not describe it as pain but more of discomfort. Gas pain and pressure has been the biggest issue. Walking and gas x strips are helping. I have a timer to remind me to sip slowly every 15 minutes. I took a 1 mile walk today and that seemed to drain all my energy but after a nap, I feel pretty good. Good Luck to all the August 4th bandsters!!! -
The gas is better today. I woke up feeling really good and walked for about a mile with my husband. After that I was tired and took a 2 hour nap. I have been on the Gas X strips and they seem to be so-so. Walking helped today. I also had a BM(TMI - I know) and that got rid of a lot of gas:ohmy: I am finding out that I really don't like the plain broths. I have been straining Soups and eating the broth. Thanks for all the well wishes. Each day does get better.

Constipation was worse than the surgery
Claudine1975 replied to linksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long did you guys have to wait for the 1st BM after surgery. I am getting worried. I had my surgery yesterday morning and I have not had once since Thursday (3 days ago). I am on clear liquids so maybe that has something to do with it???? -
Sore and sorry for myself but it's done!
Claudine1975 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
2 days under my belt of being banded and I would say the worst part is the gas. I feel like I have to burp or pass gas really bad. I have taken the GasX strips and they help a little. My port scar is sore but I can take it. I can really say that I have not been in pain - just minor discomfort. -
Anyone tried the New Whey Bullit protein thingys?
Claudine1975 replied to jadeesmjk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use the protien new whey bullets. I think the are tolerable in taste. They have 2 kinds - 25 grams of protien and 50 grams of protein. Most experts agree that you can only absorb 20-25 grams of protein so I split the 50 gram one in half. -
I have just come back from the movies and I went all by myself. I was quickly reminded why I don’t attend movies anymore. It was $9.25 for just me! Once the movie got started there were some little twerps behind me. Don’t get me wrong – I love kids. I have one of my own. These kids proceeded to start talking. Since I have had NOTHING to eat today my nerves were on edge. I had to ask them twice during the movie to be quiet. I felt like an old biddy – I wanted to enjoy the movie. Then on the way home I almost ran over a cat or a dog. I couldn’t tell since it was dark and I was going 60mph. I was startled and shocked – I am a animal lover and the thought of my running over a pet would have sent me into a anxiety attack (on top of not eating for 24 hours). I arrived home and opened my tailgate of my SUV to get out my work computer and there and behold I had run over a frog. Not good. My lucky husband came out and quickly got rid of it. I felt bad but I could not see a frog in my driveway. Oh well enough about that. I don’t feel incredibly nervous or excited about my surgery tomorrow. I think I am a little numb right now. I am sure it will become incredibly real when arrive at the hospital. Did I mention that they moved up my surgery to 8:15 AM. Which is great for me – get it over with. My husband and I have to drop my daughter off at the neighbors so that they can take her to school in the morning. On a lighter note I have lost almost 20 pounds befoere surgery. I am pretty proud of myself. Bye the way - I AM STARVING:mad2: Ready or not here I come…..

Claudine1975 replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tomorrow. I am feel calm. it is very weird and I don't understand it. I am hoping to keep this feeling up until they wheel me in. I have packed my bags with books, Ipod, comfortable bra and my dreaded glasses. 8:15 AM can't get her soon enough. -

I went to the beach this past weekend tried my best not to do a carb overload since I have been good. I did a buffalo chicken salad with dressing on the side one night and a grilled chicken wrap the next night. I was dying for a piece of cheesecake but I resisted. Don't know what I am having tomorrow night since that is my last "chewing" meal for a while.

Where Are My G.R.I.T.S
Claudine1975 replied to yettia1031's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was born in NYC then raised in North Cackalacky. I have been known to eat grits (like when I was 3) but won't touch them now. Ya'll can have them! -
Emotional Eating
Claudine1975 replied to southerngirl24's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can join the crowd. I am also an emotional eater. It has been hard to fight the urges, but they do go away. I either walk, go upstairs (my kitchen is downstairs), or just do something else. I also got rid of all my "good" foods at home and replaced them with healthy options. I can't so that much damage on sugar free Jello or SF popsicles. I am also a lady in theraphy and I have no shame - best thing I ever did with myself. Well, other then getting banded:smile2: -
Vegasgirl - I have 2 heart murmers and I had to do a stress test. It was not a big deal but it did take all morning long. I wish you good luck!

I am having surgery in about a week. It is good to hear of a sucess story and encourgement just before surgery. I am getting nervous and excited all at the same time. Good Luck to all of us!! -
Here it goes....I went out to eat with my college girlfriends to an Italian place and normally I would order something with Pasta and drink a couple glassed of wine. Since dinner was at 6:30 and I get off at 4:00 - I still went to work out first. Then I ordered seared Salmon and salad and only 1 glass of wine that I didn't finish. I was really proud of myself for making better choices then I have in the past. Tonight I have going to by bosses' house for pizza and salad. I am going to try to load up on salad and maybe 1 piece of pizza. My next challenge will be this weekend - I am going to the beach and we will be having a good time - if you know what I mean. I am bringing cold cuts and I will try to find some low carb wraps. Hopefully for dinners I will do some sort of baked or broiled fish entree. I am trying not to lose the willpower right before the surgery:unsure:

Scale Addicts . . . ???? for You
Claudine1975 replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For what it is worth....I always weigh less after a long hard walk in the morning. I can only think it is the buckets of sweat that pour off of me. -
Hey Folks, Here it is the end of another weekend in July and August is just around the corner. I eat really good this weekend at a friend's house - steak on the grill. Anyone experience this???
Claudine1975 replied to fotogurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be roseaca. I have that and I have the bumpy kind - the other is brokem caperlliaries under the skin. My bumps are mainly near my jaw line and some on the cheeks. It comes out in teams of stress and I could literally scratch my face off. I have a special soap and metrogel that I use. Metrogel will calm the inflammation and redness. the sulfer soap reduces the bacteria on my face (yikes) Good Luck in determing what this is. Good Luck on your weight loss! -

I am going to have to live with the non-beating star. I have tried and tried to upload it from photobucket and lana's site. Update - I got it. That took forever. I have no idea what I am doing.
