  1. I just started the process for getting the Lap Band today. I talked with my Dr and he was really great about the whole thing! I have a BMI of 37.5 right now with diabetes and arthritis in both knees. My next step is to take a 12 week nutrition class which I signed up for today. I start that on May 7th. I thought Kaiser would have my Dr push back at my asking about getting this done, but he didn't. He was very supportive and thinks it's a good idea for me, even told me to contact him 2 weeks before my classes are done so he can start the next step in my referal so I can get it done quicker! A lady at my work had the Lap Band done several years ago and has had a HUGE sucess with it an has lost about 150 lbs. She has paved the way at my work so people are very positive and supportive about it  I'm thrilled right now!! I know this isn't a cure all, but with all the other changes I've made to improve my health already, this will give me the edge I need. awakened2dreams

    What is it you WANT?

I want to get my diabetes under control. I want to look good in my clothes and not be mistaken for a pregnant woman (nothing against pregnant women but my pregnant days are over). I want this shield of weight to be gone because I have better inner tools now to deal with life on life's terms. I want my outside body to match my inside person :w00t:

    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

For me, the hardest part about quitting was all in my head. The addict in me didn't want to feel uncomfortable. I smoked for the better part of 30 years! What tipped my thinking to an absolute "no more cigs" was test results that came back about my diabetes effecting my kidneys. It freaked me out in a bad way. Then I looked around at all the people I know who had quit smoking, they did it and I told myself then I could too. I've been smoke free for almost 3 months now. I was on Zyban for about 3 weeks. I took it for 1 week prior to quitting, then for 2 more weeks and threw the rest away. The first few days are the hardest, but it does get easier! I know this sounds so simple and easy and I know it isn't, just know it is possible!! awakened2dreams
