Stay_Tuned replied to Stay_Tuned's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No it isnt TOM.. I am on cycle day 16 of a 28 day cycle..... It has to be the fluids... I think I got at least 3 bags....AND I drank 70 ounces of between 8pm last night-6am this morning... and still drinking Water now... I will check the scale tomorow..... I put a call into the Nurse... so she can tell me how long this water weight will stay on... Or if there is something I need to do... I hear you with the whole P-ing thing.... I feel like I have to go badly... but it just trickles out LOL! I think the pain meds slow down that muscle...... -
weight gain right after surgery
Stay_Tuned replied to Stay_Tuned's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost about 16 pounds during the preop diet... I have done everything according to the docs and nurses....I guess everyone is different....It surely is not for lack of trying or not obeying what the Doc said to do.... I just had surgery yesterday..... It wouldnt be like me to lose anyways... I tend to gain weight with Water LMAO!! -
How much did you lose on Pre-Opt diet?
Stay_Tuned replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost about 15=17 pounds on my preop.... I did a week of liquids.... then I did some liquids and a low carb high protein low cal dinner.... Then 4 days before surgery I went back to only shakes.... I use newlifestyle shakes -
I took mine..... had free wifi too.... I even posted to this board as soon as I got to my room LOL Kept me busy as well... I was an overnight stay
-
Your preop is the same as mine! the patch behind the ear.. the blood thinner in the leg... All of it!

I am HOME..... In my own bed and getting my pain meds situated. I actually do not feel too bad... WAY less pain then I expected. I got to the hospital at 11am... Did all the IV preop and getting into my lovely gown and cap.... Rolled into Surgery room at Noon and was waking up in the recovery room by 2ish. This is where I encountered the most pain.... BUT they nice Lady gave me some morphine ! and tht helped tremendously! Just ice chip one ounce at a time until 8pm and then I could drink water!! Thankfully because I was about to find a mud puddle to drink out of.. I was sooo dang dried out. I was hooked up to oxygen pusle ox and blood pressure cuff until 10pm and then I only had my IV... That came off around 8am today. I was able to get out of my bed to the bathroom sit on the potty and get off by myself even the first time right after surgery. Three gals from my Surgeons office came in and talked to me a little and gave my some discharge instructions and then I was free to come home! I am now getting my first shake in and watching my Soaps!! I have NO regrets.... and I am excited about the future.... I cant wait to go shopping for all new clothes.... I am such a shopper... So I can now shop for purses LOL!

To stay or not to stay...
Stay_Tuned replied to YoungNy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgeon makes you stay overnight... In my opinion it is a great decision on her part.... They can give you better meds for the pain.. help you out of bed if you need that... I didnt. I was glad to be monitored to know I was doing A O K I am getting ready to go home soon....I am not sure when I will be released but it will be in a few hours I think! -
Yeah keep up the good work.... You are now in twoterville!!!! Wooot wooot!!! what an inspiration! Thanks for the post

Massa when you get to the forum you want... say May 2008 you willl see a blue button on the top left that says new thread.. Just click on that.... It is like that in every catagory.... The new thread button only comes up when you are not in an individual thread... just at the first page before you enter a specific thread.... So I made it through the night... I got up every 2ish hours to tinkle... I drank about 60 ounces of water.. I started drinking at 8pm... but I was able to do that all on my own.... I am now awaiting the surgeon to come in... I think they do a small swallow test with a barium like drink before I can go.... This whole surgery was a breeze.... If anyone is worried I can tell you....that it is not worth losing sleep over about the pain.... Feels like LOTS of situps and maybe a punch.... I have been on pain meds every 4-6 hours and that is keeping any little bit of pain at bay.... Where are the other 5-21 bandsters... come out come out where ever you are!!!!

Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
Stay_Tuned replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
LBT Rants and Raves *** Off-Topic DEBATE AREA *** Want debate? Get it here. Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave. Enter at your own risk! Key words in this header are "want debate?" I assume that means anyone who chooses to can disagree with a rant found here.... and post their own opinion....bringing on a debate.... This "rant" did not alienate me at all as some earlier posters suggested it could possibly do ... However I would like to respond that I did NOT bypass a whole neatly organized forum to express dismay to this rant instead of going to the correct forum to ask a question I may have as suggested to me... In fact this post was right in my face when I signed on in the "latest forum threads section" on the home page.... When I opened it I felt the need to pledge to not ask such questions of those who had gone through this process before me with attitude..yes.....truthfully I am person who could ask a question that might drive someone batty....BUT I am still going to ask it....New people come on here daily... they may have different experiences and offer something that truely helps me rather then using the search button... I will "pledge" to use that function also...but I may also still go ahead and ask a question that is repetitive..... I firmly believe that you can gain knowledge from a group of those who have gone before you....all the newbies here will sooner or later be the "elders" of board and when I get to that point I hope that I can share my experiences and maybe alleviate a fear or answer a question of a new person on here who most likely has so many questions stirring away in their brains...whether they be repetitive or not to this board or to myself.... Sometimes the answer may be staring a person in their face but asking it in their own words and getting personal responses is what works for them..... -
question on protein shakes
Stay_Tuned replied to Ellen86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best tasting with the least amount of protein after taste to me are the New life styles diet shake you can get them online.. just type that into google..They offer many flavors plus savory items too.... OR if you need something off the shelf then Carnation sugar free.... or atkins work well too.... -
I use newlifestyles..... They have very similar items to Medifast. the difference is Medifast is soy based and new life styles is milk based..... The tomato soup is good if you doctor it up a little... add some garlic powder and some onion powder.... a little cumin and chili powder... Makes it really good.... Add some splenda and some cinnamon to the oatmeal.... a little vanilla extract is good too.
-
I would guess and say you will be approved... IF you go by the metropolitan chart... and go by medium frame.. you are like 3 pounds shy IF you use the highest weight for 5' 4" in the medium frame.... which is 138 times that by 200%and you get 276..... I will keep positive thoughts for you.. Keep us posted!!! This is the chart they use Met life ideal height weight tables references

I have to do a low carb high Protein diet until 4 days prior and then I go on Protein shakes. The first thing in your body to shrink is your liver.. this is what my surgeons office told me... During the operation they have to pass an instument around the stomach and they want your liver as small as possible so it will not get in the way. It is hard BUT I believe it will be worth it in the end. If you slip just get right back on the minute after. Don't say oh well I blew it so continue on for the rest of the day. I have to say with the higher protein lower carbs my cravings are much less and I do not feel hungry.. When is your surgery??? Ohh and I am a military wife too! US Navy!
-
Can you share your recipe for salsa? I would love to make some homemade....
-
Yes they are for calcium. The adult chewable that I got actually has more iron then the flintstone childrens vitamin.
-
Hi there! This is what my nutritionist told me... 1 chewable vitamin...and 2 viactivs a day. I got the walgreens adult chewable comparable to the centrum vitamin and I got the caramel viactiv chews.... As far as liquids go every surgeon is different.... Mine asks that you dont gain weight before the surgery.. and that you do the liquids 4 days prior to surgery... to shrink the liver as she will have to pass an instrument behind the stomach and it is best to be able to do that with the most ease... GOOD LUCK!!

I have Tricare....I didnt do much with my Tricare PCM.... Tricare only requires that you meet the weight requirements to be approved...100 pound over and 2 co-mobids... or 200% over "normal" weight. All other tests have been required by my Surgeons office... Here is my journey so far I went to my PCP for an appt to get my referral on March 23rd. referral was available next day My surgeon requires you attend the seminar before seeing her the next available was April 21st Attended meeting 4-21 and turned in paperwork.... 2 years of medical record and my insurance card. Approved by Tricare for the surgery on 4-25 My surgeon requires that you see a Psych... Did that on 4-30 Appt at Surgeon's office on 5-5 and at that time we scheduled the surgery for 5-21 I had my preop testing and appts on 5-12 that consisted of EKG, Blood work, chest and abdomin xray, upper GI, meet with anesthesia team and also nutritionist. Then another appt with surgeons PA for a quick physical and review of health and tests performed. 5-19 I have my final appt with the Psych 5-21 SURGERY!!!
