Thank you muchly. I joined the whole family up for a month AFTER I asked them if they wanted to, but when I actually did it, they went pale and objected so I converted their two month trials into three months for me so sucks to be them bwwaaahahahah

Hella yes, I can relate to this. If I lose too slowly I’m aaaarreggghhh it’s stopping working. If I get a whoosh of weight loss I’m relieved but wondering when it will stop. 😂 -
Well lads, today is Eid (sort of like Muslim Christmas) and my Eid present to myself was to join the gym. Happy Eid to meeeee.

Any foods permanently off your safe list?
ummyasmin replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Food and Nutrition
I wasn't given a permanent 'no' list but anything with quickly absorbing sugar is a big no-no. Icrecream makes me dump so fast my head spins. Same with commercial hot-chocolate/mochas. Jams and refined carbs give me reactive hypos and I HATE them with a passion so I just avoid those permanently now. But I'm lucky I can do a bit of dark chocolate without too many problems, so that's my bit of naughtiness. -
Well!! Managed to go for a gorgeous walk up a bloody big hill. My watch tells me I climbed 55 stairs worth

I used to think I was a night owl but since instituting a strictish bedtime of 11pm if I stay up later I get exhausted. I guess I'm a hummingbird then??

1. Personal Goal: imma hit onderland if it kills me! 2. Surgery: MGB (Oct 18), still losing 3. CW: 93.6 kg (206 lbs), 33.6 BMI (pre-lapband 153.5kg, pre-MGB revision 135.5kg) 4. Fun fact: it won't mean anything to peeps outside Oz, but keeping on with famous ppl theme, my daughter is besties with the daughter of Waleed Aly and Sudan Cartland and Wal's brother was my surgeon for my original lapband. (Keeping it in the fam 😂)

Hormonal changes like acne after WLS??
ummyasmin replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I reckon it must be the hormones being released from the fat cells. My diet is hella better than it ever used to be, so it can’t be crap food. -
Hormonal changes like acne after WLS??
ummyasmin replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Zomg the acne is driving me batty. I was fine until a month or so ago and now my forehead looks like a Martian terrain. I've nicked some of my daughter's prescription anti-acne cream and ordered some retinal something or other but as someone who has never really had to deal with much more than a few pimples as a teen, I'm dying here. -
Found out what happens if you don't eat every few hours
ummyasmin replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have to be pretty careful what I do eat before not-eating for a while/fasting. Anything that spikes my insulin response (that can include too much protein or something with hidden sugar like carby bread) and I'm guaranteed reactive hypoglycaemia three hours later. I hate it! But if I'm good, I'm fine. I'm doing 18:6 fasting no probs if I make sensible choices and I'm so attune to hypos I can sense when they are coming pretty early on and then I pop a glucose tablet or take a teaspoon of maple syrup. I've got it down to a fine art because I HATE hypos (T2 diabetic in remission here). -
How to choose a realistic goal weight
ummyasmin replied to ValerieInMexico's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I tell you what tho, except for here and a few select ppl, I'm not telling others what my goal is because I've had that many well-meaning ppl tell me it's too low even though it's literally the absolute top of the "healthy" BMI. TBH I think it says more about them and how overweight is the new normal these days. "We support you in your weightloss but we don't want you to be not the fat one in our family/friend- group". -
Has anyone heard of Malabsorption Gastric Bypass
ummyasmin replied to Sharon B A's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You may find after healing you can eat larger portions than regular surgery folks, if he didn't reduce the size of your stomach. My surgeon had to leave a bigger pouch because of scar tissue from my lapband so I have to be careful with portion control so I'm not taking in too many calories, but the malabsortive part has really worked for me. It's trained me (despite my stupidity) to avoid sugary carbs and too much fat because it feels so unpleasant to indulge too much. I'm at the point where the thought of eating regular icecream is unpleasant so I don't even miss it. So you can definitely work with the tool you have!! -
Heellloooo *cough* ummm I'm baaaack too. I dunno why I stopped posting but I kinda took a social media break. Good luck with the revision surgery @GreenTealael and soz to hear about ur hernia dramas @Fluffychix

An untruthful story I often tell myself: I don't have any willpower. At least that was what I told myself before WLS. It's amazing how I thought not losing weight was all my fault and I'd I could have just applied more willpower. Magically, I seem to have it in spades now, oh you mean it wasn't my *fault* I couldn't lose weight until I had a bypass? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

So so many. I grew up on a farm so my brother and I used to amuse ourselves all the time. We used to climb the hay bales and look for baby mice. That was great fun. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm doing really well this month despite stall when I was crook. I'm sooooo close to making my March goal! 21. I could do with more balance in my sleep. Its either too much or too little. My circadian rhythm is pretty skewiff. 22. Biggest victory so far has to be losing over 32 kilos so far with my surgery. I never believed it was possible that this could actually work, and every day I wake up smiling b/c of it! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Need a bit of advice re: my engagement and wedding rings. I'm now thinner than when I married my lovely hubs twenty years ago and my rings are getting too loose. They're bugging me coz they swivel all the time and I'm scared of losing them. I'm loathe to take them off but there's no point getting them adjusted yet - I don't even know if they can be adjusted. Did this happen to anyone else? What did you do? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
