    Where Is Everyone From?

I wanted to post you a photo of Tipp but the only one on my phone was of some ducks waddling across the road I was on and now I think about it, it was in Waterford [emoji38] Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    stomach noises

Mine doesn't cope well with artificial sweeteners. If I eat/drink too much of those (and God help me, that means all the protein drinks) my body sounds like a 747 warming up for take - off. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Where Is Everyone From?

Oh it's lovely! Tipp town is not too far from me. I'm not a native, I'm originally from Australia but I married an Irishman for my sins [emoji6] and he imported me. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

  7. Oh gosh, you've been thru the mill and back haven't you. At least it wasn't painful whilst you weren't asleep, if not a bit disconcerting. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. My bdoc didn't say anything about opening them or even in what form to take them so I think I better ask. Ta. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. So you can take capsules as a bypass patient then? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

How did you pick your user name?

Mine is the traditional Arabic kunya (honorific) for a parent: Umm = mother (of) Yasmin (my daughter's name). Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Hi Frustr8, just reading your slightly older post and I have a question re: the omeprazole. My surgeon wants me on it and my GP has prescribed it in capsule form which I've been just taking like a regular capsule (swallowing the thing whole) am I doing that wrong? I couldn't figure out what you meant here. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I've been getting head cravings every now and again. Distraction is helping, as is trying to identify what it is I'd like and having something along those lines. Like if it's savory, then some soup (I make my own). If it's sweet I make a faux hot chocolate (coffee with two caps of sugar-free chocolate syrup, lactose-free milk and a small spray of canned whipped cream) Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I'm another failed band. In my case it never really worked. Mine was mechanical failure - it sprung a leak early on and nine months after I had it, I was back in hospital getting the tubing and port replaced, but even after that it never really worked in the way promised. Omeprazole intake

It may depend on what type of surgery you had. My surgeon says I have to take it for life to protect against ulcers. I had a mini gastric bypass. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    October Bypass

I'd call your surgery team to ask because that sounds pretty extreme to me. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. I did it! I'm out the other side of surgery, this is my second full day post-op. After surgery I felt like a donkey had kicked me, yesterday I felt like it was just a large dog. Today, a small terrier, maybe. So you just have to get through the first 24—48 sucky hours and then it will be OK! Also my suggestion is ask for all the pain relief drugs they are willing to give you. Does make a difference! I'm on liquids now but in the hospital they gave me Dutch Rusks to actually eat which was beyond weird. I never thought I'd be eating anything for a month. But I'd brought over enough protein shake powders to keep a small army travelling so that's what I'm having for brekkie, lunch and tea now. Pound of cure

I wonder if it's a cultural thing. I live in Ireland but had my surgery in Belgium so all my information from my surgeon and hospital about eating is European. They had me eat! Dutch Rusks day two after surgery (they're like these toasted, crumbly bread biscuit things). And the material they have me to read talked about the importance of having potato and pasta in the diet when I can progress to blended and real food. Absolutely no talk of minimum daily amounts of protein at all. So I wouldn't stress too much, just follow your surgeon 's advice, experiment with what works for you and get a semi-regular blood test to make sure you're not vitamin deficient. Frustrated

Are you sipping small amounts really slowly? Don't take too big a gulp. I'm going into my third day after surgery and am a bit scared of the milk protein shakes but water is OK for me if I take it nice and slow. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
