Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass

We don't have those delicious sounding teas in Ireland. I wonder if you put sugar free syrups in regular tea with milk would it taste similar? Or no? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass

Oh goodness the chocolate withdrawal was a battle. I haven't had real chocolate since before my surgery and I could eat 1± family size Galaxy bars in one sitting (hello about 3000 calories). I found some sugar free chocolate syrup so when I'm desperate for the taste I make a Mocha with that (coffee and put two capfuls of SF syrup in). It's my naughty goto treat because the way I make it, it's only 45 calories which is mostly the LF milk. But, you gotta be strong and give up the real chocolate. It's an addiction all right (for me anyway). Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

6. Yes re: omeprazole for bile reflux. Might be worth talking to your surgeon about whether you should take it. I'm surprised he didn't put you on it. My question that I haven't managed to have answered yet (bit too lazy to put some serious effort into finding out) is whether the delayed coating on the tablets or capsules is metabolised at the right speed given bypass can do funny things with medication. Like, if I'm taking it but it's not being absorbed properly then what's the point? I do wonder though if I've had a little bit of bile reflux. When I had my lapband, I had awful acid reflux so I know exactly what that tastes and feels like. Haven't had it since. But a couple of times I had a funny metallic taste in my mouth that I wondered was it bile, so I took a Rennies and it did go away. It's only happened a couple of times though. 8. My mam-in-law is the whole "I heard someone who had it and got lots of problems, why can't you try Slimming World?" for five minutes, but she was scared of me going under the knife. I tried to explain it was laproscopic but she didn't understand. Now that I'm out the other side she's very supportive. I told the women in my Qur'an class I had "stomach surgery" but I've lost a noticeable amount of weight so they even though they don't know specifics, they keep congratulating me. I even had someone come and ask me dieting tips *splutter*?! Hubs is very supportive although he was worried beforehand. He saw me through a failed lapband so I think like me he was wondering if it would actually work. Now he jokes he's been secretly fiddling with my scales to make me think I'm losing weight. He can't believe it when I come downstairs and announce (lost another half a kilo!) couple of times a week. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Sliced meat (eg chicken lunch eat), boiled egg, mixed raw nuts, grapes, Babybel cheeses, Mason jar salads with sugar-free / fat-free dressing and if desperately running out the door late, a protein bar. (not all in the same lunch heheh) Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

800 Calories Per Day

Knowing this, can I encourage you to look into good mental health hygiene habits. Because I wouldn't be surprised if asFluffyChix says you've probably been using food etc. to self medicate for the OCD and depression. There's lots of evidence that the following really really help with good mental health and you may find with that improving, or becomes easier to work your healthy eating plan: - good sleep is #1!!!! No electronics in bed (reduce blue light exposure before bed); go to bed before midnight and get a solid 7-8 hours. - sunlight/fresh air exposure during the day, preferably before afternoon (helps set your circadian rhythms) - regular exercise = go for a walk outside and you kill two birds with one stone - take fish oil and Vitamin D supplements (something to do with good brain functioning) - hug someone you love for at least 50 seconds for oxytocin release in your brain! It sounds hokey but it really helps me with my bipolar. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

16. Hiya, everyone is different and what you can /can't eat in the beginning is different than years out but yes after you're back eating normal food (past the liquid and mushy phases) you should be able to eat regular fruits and veggies, just not so much of them. Some people's taste buds change for a while so some things you like now, you may not like after surgery and vice versa, but a bypass is essentially designed to help you stop eating sugar and fat and have healthy food in smaller quantities. After years you'll probably be able to eat larger quantities and a more varied diet so you'll need to be prepared that WLS is training to learn how to eat better and you still need to do the work to make it succeed. Best wishes on your journey! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Food Before and After Photos

It was very nom! And satisfying. The baby beetroot has a real peppery zing to it. I had my bypass on 16 Oct so ummm... just over eight weeks. I'm a revision from lapband so there's not really any food I can't eat, and I can eat a fair bit but I try and limit myself calorie-wise. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

It'll come off, then you'll stall and you'll be like "what the?" then your body will recover and you'll start losing weight before you know it. How's hubby now that you've had the surgery? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

24. It's a cure for acid reflux but there are some studies which suggest you may be susceptible to bile reflux instead. My surgeon has me on omeprazole for life because of that. But it cured my acid reflux. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
25. For me, it's trying to be the most efficient with my bypass tool that I can be. I don't want to eat the way the way I ate before surgery because that got me to 153 kilos. All of a sudden I'm not haunted by a demon that drives me to stuff my face with carbs and fat. It's fantastic! With that demon banished, for the first time in my life I can make seriously good decisions about putting healthy food in my body but it's a new learning curve and creating my own list of Rules about how I eat now is a process. I'm not obsessive about it, but I think I'm very sensitive to carbs so following some keto guidelines makes sense to me. For others it might be something different.
