The first few weeks are pretty tough but it helps coming and reading the forums here. I'm about ten weeks out now and I'm so much happier now. But I remember finding the early stages hard. You can do this, you have so much to look forward to on this magical journey! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

U.K. potential sleevers! Stay in the U.K
ummyasmin replied to Bishbosh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm awfully sorry to hear what's happened to you. I had mine done in Belgium and I can't speak highly enough of my surgeon, so it's not necc. because they are European. But that doesn't make it any easier for you of course. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

Our protein bars are Fulfil and Carb Killa. You can get them at pretty much any supermarket like Tesco or Supervalu. You can also buy protein powder and RTD shakes from Holland & Barrets (they're all over the place). The produce, meat, cheese here is pretty good quality. Beef that is grass-fed is normal here. You'd struggle to get non-grass-fed beef. You don't need to tip in restaurants here unless you get outstanding service. Most coffee places will have Skim milk or soy available (some, like Costa also do coconut and almond milk). I'm trying to think what else might be helpful to tell you. I'm not in Dublin so I can't recommend any specific markets but is there anything else I can tell you? We have Aldi and Lidl which are discount supermarkets but you'll get a wider range of products at Tesco. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'd talk to your pdoc about it and also any future possible bariatric doc. As far as I know, once you're habituated to seroquel the weight gain stops. But you may find you lose slower than normal and maybe not as much weight overall as others, that's what Dr Weiner said on one of his YouTube videos. Hope that helps. I Believe It Was Worth It
ummyasmin replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Best. Thing. Ever. Bloimin' hard work but boy is the payoff worth it. Everyone around me is commenting positively and I love catching sight of myself in windows etc. Mostly I just love being free of the obsessive drive to eat (crap) food all the time. Its such a mental relief as well as physical one. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

IKR!! I wonder if it's because those nerves at the top of the stomach are already stretched so they don't respond to restriction feelings or sommit. If I'm not careful I can happily eat the same size plate of food as I serve my hubby [emoji22][emoji848][emoji849] Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Tips for Stopping Caffiene
ummyasmin replied to Kmartin6168's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Caffeine withdrawal is real but its only a couple of days. Maybe make some posh caffeine free flat drinks whenever you want one instead, like some flavoured water with ice and a slice of lemon. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm a revision too and likewise I don't really have restriction. Maybe if I eat a whole lot of dry chicken at once I will feel it back up into my oesophagus and that's a little unpleasant, but otherwise nope. But what I have been feeling is pleasantly satiated after half an hour of eating good quality protein. So I have to force myself to eat the smaller quantity knowing the satisfaction *will come* its just not immediate. Its hard work but its doable. I do have dumping and squits from sugary and fatty food but it's not like one square of chocolate will have me heaving. The dumping can be linked to how much intestine they bypassed. Maybe they were conservative with you. But even without the super virgin stomach benefits, you do still have a tool at your disposal, it's just that maybe you won't have a traditional honeymoon. You may have to live like how a Vet does but be a bit strict with yourself. Think of it this way, you won't get the regain shock that first timers who had a fabulously easy honeymoon do, coz ya been there, done that! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Dumping....a right of VSG passage?
ummyasmin replied to Myhorseisfattoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My understanding is that dumping occurred after an intolerable sugar or calorie load where the body rushes fluid to the intestine to help move the food quickly through and that sudden imbalance causes symptoms like light headedness, feeling flushed, nausea, etc. Too much fat causes explosive diarrhea. But I don't know if it also causes dumping. It hasn't with me. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm gonna be a smug mum, but when my girly was in primary school, for her teachers' prezzie I made homemade hampers full of cool stationary. I figure teachers always need /like stationary. At least it wasn't more chocolate hahaha Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

I had to do a bunch of calculations coz I think in metric, but in 66 days (9 weeks, 3 days) I've lost 30.8 pounds (probably a few more coz I haven't weighed myself for a couple of days). I'm a revision and apparently we lose slower, but I'll take it! I'm just happy to see the scales going on the right direction! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

I did mine and my dad's a while back, and what isn't clear is that the generic profiles are only accurate in sofar that the database they are comparing you to is large. You don't actually have 100% accuracy, what it is is, they sample a population eg. Irish and if, say, 90% of that Irish population have the same gene markers as you, then you most likely belong to that Irish population. But you could be one of the 10% of the Irish population that don't have the same profile so you get missed. So it's only an approximation. So don't expect really detailed information. Food Before and After Photos
ummyasmin replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Well I did it. Hauled myself off to gp then Emergency coz I'm 90% sure i have a kidney stone. Praise God I got seen relatively quickly but xray didn't show stone. I do have an infection though. Got bounced up to gynae who are pretty sure colicky pain isn't from the Mother of All Fibroids sitting there (which I can feel oh so much better since losing 20kgs - it's like a bloomin bowling ball in my belly). So, they sent me home with buscopan, augmentin and best wishes. Waaaa I'm still pretty sure it's a kidney stone! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
