Surgery in 2 1/2 hours and I am a nervous wreck 😢
ummyasmin replied to MeaganMB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes!!! I have had lots of surgeries/general anaesthetic procedures (so many I have lost count) and I still felt nervous going under this last time for my bypass. You will get through this!! It's hard but totally doable. Just keep reminding yourself why you are doing this, and that the docs wouldn't do it if they didn't think it was in your best health interest!! -
A lot of people have trouble with chicken. If I eat roast chicken it's too fatty and I get the squits. Maybe just stick to ground chicken mince for a while. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Fitness plan / activity: just last night I said to hubs I want to start walking so we got up off our behinds and went for a brisk walk in the chilly (but lovely) evening. We're going to do it again tonight God willing. So my aim is to do half an hour brisk walk every day. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Definitely! Probably a lot of health wisdom there that we ate only just waking up to. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
ummyasmin replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
At the moment yes (gotta love winter in the northern hemisphere) but I'd already drunk water past dawn so it wouldn't count. I think doing me ramadan catchups has accidentally put my body into natural IF mode even when I'm not purposely doing it. Which is way cool! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

Wow. Sounds like you've made a healthy choice. Her sniping sounds like it was just shots in the dark to try and hurt you, so don't give them share of mind. This surgery is anything but frivolous! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

My din dins tonight. Parsnip chips made in the airfryer (seasoned with a couple of sprays of rapeseed, salt, garlic and onion powder). The sauce is SF sweet chilli. The bowl has chicken breast with Brussels sprouts, carrots, broccoli and mushroom, marinated in a bit of Nando's sauce. I baked them all together in the oven for half an hour. Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
ummyasmin replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Congratulations!! I did, accidently. Didn't eat until about 4.30pm coz I was so busy. It gave me lots of lovely calories to play with for dinner but I kept it light. It meant I had to purposely eat some cheese to just up my protein this evening (a first for me). Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -
LapBand being Removed, Deciding Sleeve or Bypass
ummyasmin replied to JLondon11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went from lapband with reflux to mini gastric bypass with no reflux (hallelujah). I have dumped a couple of times (due to stupid, stupid choices - repeat after me, a large regular Mocha and Pringles is not a good idea) but in the big scheme that's nothing in comparison to how miserable the reflux was making me. If I don't eat sugar, I don't dump - yay! Explosive diarrhea has happened to me a few times when I've eaten more fat than I should have (chicken wings and skin are from the devil) but again, if I don't eat fatty foods I'm fine. Overall I feel really good and love, love, love my bypass when I'm following the Rules: protein first, no sugar, no starchy or beige carbs, low-fat, few liquid calories. That's been my experience Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

Does it taste good? Or is it like hemp powder which is horribly vile but good for you? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -
Day 7 motivation / inspiration : I love catching glimpses of my reflection in shop windows and mirrors. When I'm not expecting it, I see a totally new profile of my body and it blows my mind. So that's my Jan motivation. Overall, I want to be a normal sized person. I've never really been one except for a few years in my teens when I did Weight Watchers and was a gym junkie. They even approached me to feature as a WW slimmer for their magazine but my body dysmorphia was so whack I couldn't accept I was not horribly obese. So I want to be normal and feel normal. (I know normal is one of those words, but I know what I mean in my head anyhow). Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Gosh I love looking at people's fridges!! I thought I'd be able to recognise what stuff is, but it's hard coz y'all live overseas where your cans and jars and packets have unfamiliar names. Except Fairlife Milk. So many peeps talk about it on BP haha. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Zomg my food funerals now seem outrageous to me. I bought a huge bag of cheezles, three cream bun things and ate them all in the car so my husband wouldn't know. I scoffed down a massive galaxy bar of chocolate and I'm sure I did other stuff too. I thought I'd never be able to eat them again. Now the very idea of doing that seems cray cray to me. I literally don't WANT to eat like that whereas I really thought I'd be suffering not being able to. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Having said that, I read it a little closer and my brain has definitely changed my memory of what withdrawals were. I thought they were times of being needy eg when you feel down and need a shoulder to cry on, or you have to back out of a commitment with a friend coz you're not feeling up to it. Whereas in that table, withdrawals are more negative behaviours. Huh, interesting! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
