    ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Writing prompts (been a busy week so I'm not getting to these every day) 7. My funny little fam! Pottering around in the garden when the weather is nice. That moment deep in prayer when I'm totally grateful for all the myriad blessings in my life. 8. On the bariatric journey there are a few peeps. Bandedwendy from YouTube is amazeballs as is@GreenTealael (I'm such a fanboi) and @Matt_Z whenever he appears. Also from YouTube SmilinsShrinking is awesome sauce. 9. See pic Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. @Orchids&Dragons is right. WAY to early to worry. Her bod has just had its insides messed with, it will take time to recover. The early weeks are tough work. She should put away the scale until she's on solids and just concentrate on learning her new way of eating. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    RNY vs Mini bypass help

The mini-bypass has one anastomosis (the surgeon-created connection between the intestine and stomach) whereas the RNY has two. You still have the same bisection of the stomach creating a pouch the food goes into and the remainder which doesn't receive food but creates juices that feed into the intestines still. But instead of cutting the intestine and reattaching it in two places, the mini-bypass loops up the intestine with a hole and that hole is attached to the bottom of the new stomach pouch. A lot of the difference IMHO comes down to the surgeon's preference and expertise. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Mini bypass

Me. I had mine in Belgium with Dr Chris DeBruyne. I'm delighted with the results. I don't have any reflux problems although b/c mine was a revision from a lapband, my pouch is slightly larger than most due to scar tissue. But I'm losing more than a kilo a week, and my diabetes is in full remission. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I think the only person who can advise you about that is your bari doc. Lots of factors to take into consideration incl. the expertise of the particular surgeon and your own health situation. Both have pros and cons. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Yogurt

Anchovy fillets?? That's a first. The other good thing about plain is you control the level of additional stuff. So you could put a tiny bit of sugar free syrup, just enough for the flavour without it being too sweet. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Long term questions

Depends on what type of surgery you have, but you could physiologically eat all sorts of non-nutritious food long term, but whether you should or want to is another question. I should know, I ate Mars Bars and Chickadees yesterday and boy do I regret it. They didn't even taste lovely like they used to. Give me fruit and cheese any day! ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Oh lads, I had THE WORST DAY. It started off with a protein pancake. It was a sample from the chemist and it tasted so fake, so I put some canned whipped cream and sugar-free syrup on it and by breakfast end I'd used up over 300 calories without feeling satisfied so I ate a protein bar but then I felt sick. So I didn't eat lunch, got hungry and lost the battle that had been raging in me for over a week to buy junk (yeah, I crapped out on the challenge). So I'm stuffing my face with chickadees and Mars Bars knowing full well its going to make me as sick as a dog. Lads, the taste wasn't even good! The chocolate was sickly sweet and the chickadees were overly salt and processed nothingness. THEN came the dumping and reactive hypoglycaemia. After I recovered I ate a white bread roll with smashed banana and chicken nuggets. I literally don't know what happened to me. I have been SO GOOD for months with only a minor slip up now and again. What the heck??? Back in the saddle tomorrow and I'll assess the damage at next weigh-in, but I feel like an alcoholic that is on that naxalone drug and I couldn't even get "high" just sick and now I'm regretting everything. Sigh. Oh lads, just when I thought I was in control. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    4. Soz too revealing 5. My eighteen year old cat. She was left stranded by a neighbour so we took her in. Then she emigrated to Ireland with us (her ticket was more expensive than ours) and has been long the roost the whole time even though she is getting quite senile now. 6. Had to choose a non-family or friend for obvs reasons, so even though I don't know him personally, the funniest person in the world is David Sedaris and his books always have me snorting a hot beverage out my nose! https://goo.gl/images/sfi9Np Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Gosh I'm behind. Here goes: 4. Done. [emoji850] 5. Happy, kind, incredibly intelligent with an IQ off the charts (I'm sure that's what they say, don't they??) 6. I'm pretty good at assimilating information and communicating it to others (I should do, I spent years training how to do exactly that) Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I was a chubby kid but my mum had (still has) an eating disorder and is stick thin. I sometimes wonder if I subconsciously put on weight as a kid because my mum wouldn't. Who knows. I have never not felt conscious of my size, even though as a child and teen I was "just" overweight, not obese. I remember when I was young, maybe 6 or 7, my dad telling me that I couldn't wear frilly things because we (me and his side of the family) were not built for those types of clothes (when I got married it was frills to the max. I looked like a frilly merangue). My mum took me to Weight Watchers when I was twelve and all through my teens. I actually got down to a normal weight at age 15-16, but because of my body dysmorphia I just couldn't see it. My most mortifying moment in school was when an idiot drama teacher had us all sit in a circle and we were supposed to call ourselves by the thing we hated most about ourselves, so when it was my turn I summoned up the courage and said "Miss Big". He said "big what?" so I repeated myself. He again asked "big what?" I couldn't fathom why he didn't understand. I was dying here, as being big was the thing I've always detested bout myself and saying it outloud to other people, TEENAGE GIRLS at that was panic - inducing. So, after a pause I thought I need to say something so I said "err.. Miss Big gap in my teeth" (I have a small gap between my two front teeth which doesn't bother me in the slightest) so he thought I was taking the piss and I got in trouble. Oh the shame! Looking back, I couldn't see I wasn't big but when you are constantly told you're overweight by an anorexic mother, what chance did I have? So I put it all back on and in spades, especially in my early twenties. By getting married (met hubs on Internet) I think I was about 125 kilos. My husband has never known me as other than morbidly obese. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be a normal sized person, but I'm keen to find out!! Hello, I’m new here.

Welcome - talk about a wakeup call. I'm so glad your husband survived! It's an exciting time for you coming up. It's tough but totally worth it! (This time last year I was 83 pounds heavier. Had bypass surgery in October, best decision ever!) Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

    1. I've been overweight my whole adult life, even more (except for a couple of normal teenage years and even then I had body dysmorphia). But I'm a generally optimistic person, the glass is almost always half full except when I think about the state of politics. Then it's empty. There is no glass, there never was as I stare into a nihilistic void of pessimism. 2. I think I have a nice, friendly face. I'm always told I look much younger than I am but I never wear makeup (hate the feel of it on my skin) and the only thing I wash my face with is water (three to five times a day coz #muslim) so I have a very clear complexion and hardly any wrinkles for my years. 3. I'm caring. I usually am happy to go out of my way to help you except when I feel like I'm being taken advantage of (ending on a preposition, oh my!) For all the points above الحمدلله.
