  1. Why are so many recommending bone broth? I know there are clear fluids for a while, just wondering why bone broth vs regular broth. What about stock?

    Surgical drain

My surgeon said that they rarely use a drain on sleeves, mostly just RNY, and those are removed before they leave the hospital.

    CBD oil

I can buy knock off stuff at a few different locations, but the quality is questionable. The stuff sold at dispensaries is supposed to be more pure. I just want to know I'm using decent quality oil.

Post op pain - be honest

Was yours just excessive burping and pressure or the kind with tons of pressure and you're praying to be able to burp? I don't mind extra burping, but I've read that some people said they were miserable because they couldn't burp. How long did yours last?
  5. This is all refreshing to hear. I've always been someone who can toss back a whole handful of pills and my surgeon's plan is so super cautious about everything and so strict. They want anything chewable if possible or crushed up if not, and I just want to swallow the damn pills. I'm still pre-op but I'm worried about the pills not absorbing after if I just toss them back. This surgical team warns you about every little thing. They also poo-poo any kind of protein shakes, which I think is ridiculous. They only want you to eat all natural everything, even on the liquid phase. Nope, this girl isn't pureeing chicken, blech. I asked them why so strict about the protein shakes, and they basically admitted that they don't trust their patients to be smart enough to choose the right ones that aren't too high in sugars, so they just say don't do it, rather than give you a list of researched brands and what is the best to use. So since I am intelligent enough to read a label and I trust myself apparently more than they do, I'm hoping it's the same with swallowing pills.

Looks like we'll have interesting holidays!

    CBD oil

Thanks for the reply! I did actually add that to my supplements about two months ago, mostly to help fight off hair loss when the time comes, but since I'm still taking the Gabapentin I can't tell if it's doing anything for that yet.

    NOVEMBER SLEEVERS

I just got scheduled for November 21, the day before Thanksgiving! I'm bummed that I have to wait that much longer, but I'm actually sort of relieved that I won't have to face the rest of the family in a house full of food while on a liquid diet. My mother in law still would've expected me to bring a side dish even though I couldn't eat it! She is trying to be supportive but she really doesn't get it yet.

    Does Diabetes affect weight loss?

Hi there! I'm still pre-op, I'm scheduled for this November. I was really hoping to have good results with my type 2 diabetes post-op, but at my consult the surgeon warned me that sometimes the longer you have been diabetic, the lower the chance of being able to stop all meds. I'm on Metformin, Lantus, and Novolog with meals. I have been diabetic for about 8-9 years, but only on the insulin for about 3. I have already lost over 40 lbs on my pre-op diet plan and my Novolog use has been greatly reduced due to the limited carbs. My A1c went from 7.2 to 5.7 in three months, Even if I still have to take the Metformin, I'd REALLY love to get off the injections. Fingers crossed, and good luck to everyone else!

    CBD oil

Hello! First post for me! I am very interested in checking out CBD oil to possibly treat my diabetic neuropathy in my feet. I am taking Gabapentin now but they are fairly large capsules. I am still pre-op, scheduled for this November, but I'm not looking forward to cutting up all my medications/switching to chewables. I have no trouble swallowing all my meds at once, large pills included, and needing to change that is one of the things I'm dreading. I live in Illinois, which is at least now legal for medical use, so I would rather use the official oil sold at the dispensary instead of the questionable stuff at the local head shop. However, Illinois is very strict on what they will give an Rx card for, There are many more hoops to jump through and more fees than somewhere like California. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the struggle to get the better oil. In the past I wanted to go straight to THC if I ever got a card (at least for when I don't have to work) but I'm honestly kind of paranoid that I'll get the munchies post-surgery and do damage to either myself or my weight loss. Has anybody had any experience with that, even for recreational use? Just happy reading what everyone has tried on here.
