HEY!!! I'm another Tucson gal! (Well, Marana really.) I saw that someone else also lived here in Continental Ranch. WOOT! I'm a scrapper and was just told a couple weeks ago about Pages in Progress. It's ABOUT TIME that there's a store out our way! (Got a little old driving out near El Con just to go scrap on Friday nights. lol) Are y'all still considering a get together??? If we wait until the weather's warm I'd even be willing to host a pool party for us! lol. I'm getting banded on the 14th with Dr. Chaisson.:huh2:

Any Others in Arizona Just Getting Started?
KristeyK replied to yellowroseaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know this post is kind of old, lol, but I wanted to say HELLO! I live in Marana just outside of Tucson! I'm getting banded May 14th down here. Just wanted to pop in and say HELLO to a couple other Zonies! -
I was told I'd be in overnight too. The BIG bonus for me is that my parents said they'll keep my son for me for a few days so I can rest up. YAY! No toddler chasing for a few nights.:smile2:

What if this doesn't change anything?
KristeyK replied to SkiGirlDenver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off..CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have to agree with Yvonne and Angela. It sounds like this person may not be the healthiest person to have around in your life. If he's always going to see you as the fat girl, he'll always treat you as the fat girl. This is going to be BAD after your surgery. You need people aorund you who will support you 100% without making you feel bad about yourself when you're doing something so great!!! Sometimes our friends are meant to only be with us for a short time to teach us something about the world or ourselves- IMHO it sounds like he's one of those friends. GOOD LUCK! I know you're going to do GREAT! (And knock MANY other deserving guys' socks right off!) Plus, I wanted to add this in: I was fairly in shape and looked pretty good when my DH and I got married. 11 years later I look NOTHING like the woman he married. He's told me before that he still sees me as the woman he married and nothing else. There ARE men out there who will love YOU for YOU, and nothing else. -
Lowest airfare prices?
KristeyK replied to Southern Missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My suggestion would be to try a few different sites, INCLUDING the airline websites. Travel agents are also able to look up lowest fares with a few keyboard strokes. (Then if anything goes wrong you're not left fending for yourself with the airline, they can help you too.) -

Goals...inspiration...dream outfit...etc...
KristeyK replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want my old SCUBA gear to be too big! (Actually, I want to be able to look semi-decent in a BRAND NEW wetsuit! lol) I want to look like Emme did back in her heyday as a "plus size" model. (I said it like that because she was a TWELVE back then!) Actually, I'll be happy when I can just shop off the plus size rack at Target again. I'll be supremely happy when I can shop in the regular sizes!!! -
Hey y'all!!! I'm new to the board but am a May Flower too! (May 14th is my date. WOOT!) I CANNOT WAIT!

They're actually not too bad to wear here during the summer. Now, if you're going to be outside all day then I wouldn't wear it. I did all the time under my work uniform and whenever I went out. The only time I was ever really miserable were the days when I was outside for more than 30 minutes and it was 118 and the storms were building up so it was humid. (Well, humid for us!lol) And yeah, they do suck you in a TINY bit, but they're more for smoothing you out. (PERFECT for that evil VPL and cellulite ook!!!)

iVillage.com. They have forums set up for the month you are due. I've been with mine for two and a half years now. (I didn't like the pregnancy.org, babycenter.com or any of the others out there.)

ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!
KristeyK replied to skinnyme2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for that Chantix. My surgeon warned me the first time I met with him that he would NOT operate on someone who had a cigarette within the last 14 days prior to surgery. I've tried another four times in the last year from that warning. The fourth time I wanted to quit my PCP wrote me a script for Chantix and it was a MIRACLE!!! It's been over a month since I've had a ciggie. Of course I still have cravings, but they are SOOOO manageable now it's unreal to me. (Like they only last MAYBE 30 seconds and aren't bad compared to not being able to get it off my mind for HOURS and getting the shakes. lol) Good uck! -
That's a good question...what do I WANT? Aside from the health benefits... I want to be able to go SCUBA diving again. I want to be able to fit EASILY into an airplane seat instead of hanging over into my husband's seat. I want to NOT be the fat mom at my son's school activities. I want to be able to have fun exercising again rather than worrying about what it is I am doing to my knees because they hurt so bad. I want my oval face back. I want to walk into Target and be able to buy clothes there. I want to be able to get pregnant and have that second child.

I am still shocked at how easy the process was for me. I only submitted my diet history, my primary care dr wrote the rec. letter for me and then I had the bloodwork done to be able to show things are really in the beginning stages of being bad due to the weight. From what I understand though, it seems like it's up to the employer's plan as to how easy it is to get it OK'd. (If that makes sense.) Good luck!
-
However, they don't suck you in a whole lot. I like them really for the fact that they smooth out what's there. (If that makes sense to you.) I am pre-op though, so I'm hoping as the weight comes off they'll be able to help me keep the gut sucked in a little bit. I can also tell you they are 1,000% more comfortable than anything else like that I've tried. (And work just as well.)

Congrats!!! I think I'm the lucky one in that my only fight was getting my primary care physician off his duff to WRITE THE LETTER for me. lol. (Took him a month.) My info was submitted last Friday and I got the call this morning that UHC approved me for it. WOOHOO! (I was amazed it was that easy.) Do you have a surgery date set yet?:rolleyes2:
