Surgery this Thursday, 5/15, and freaking out!!!
KristeyK replied to Hope4K's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Iwas kind of feeling the same way you are a couple weeks ago. I let all of those what ifs play through my head then I realized if I DON'T do it, chances are I won't be around in 10 or 15 years anyway. I figured getting the band is MUCH less risky than living the way I am now. KWIM? Good luck on Thursday!!!!! -

I can't wait to read your post surgical response!!! (I get done on Wednesday so it'll be a few days.) Now go home and RELAX!!! Don't worry about a spotess house or laundry and all that. (Yeah I know, WAY easier said than done. lol) Good luck! -

I say blame it on the wonky co-workers. Is there any way you can skedaddle a little early and go home and relax for a bit??? -
I saw that you're also from Tucson and wanted to say HELLO!!! Where did you get your surgery done?
-
Thanks!!! When do you find out about your approval??? And since I'm nosey, am I correct in assuming you're down in Ft. Huachuca??? Sierra Vista is SOOO pretty!
To answer your question, Dr. Chaisson is doing my surgery at Northwest Hospital here in Tucson. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
-
I met a gentleman on Saturday who had lost 252lbs!!! So I do indeed believe you can lose your 116 and I can lose my 165!!!
-
I have no tips for you YET. My surgery is set for Wednesday, so anything I learn between then and your surgery I'll pass it along!
-
It's Sadam Hussein. lol. Actually, the pink flamingoes crack me up. I do have a few in my backyard. They're cheap "pets" and my son LOVES to rearrange them around the yard for me. (Don't feel like paying the fines my HOA would impose for me having them in front.)

KristeyK replied to nicolerose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do it when I first got pregnant too. It really isn't bad at all. -
What I'm cooking for dinner tonight!
KristeyK replied to Luscious's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, I have to tell y'all the real reason for even wanting to try vegemite. It was all from the danged Men at Work song. I had been wanting to try it since I was 13 or so when that song came out. EEEK! (BTW...please tell me that Foster's really isn't Austrailian for beer as they claim it is here in the States!!!) -

Another American here. Grits are actually quite delicious, but if you ever get here and try them make SURE they are not instant. (Kind of like the difference between canned pumpkin and fresh pumpkin.) Now, I was raised eating grits and even I cannot clue you in as to what "pork" grits are. Yes, canned whipped cream. There is ONE decent brand you can buy, the rest of them are NASTY. And I hate to tell y'all, but yeah, Vegemite is, uh, different. (I have put my Aussie friend on notice that if he EVER brings it back for me again, I will NEVER speak to him again. lol) -
Factor V Leden / Thrombophillia
KristeyK replied to Me1e's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't tell you about the lap band, but my sister has this and she was able to get a tummy tuck done about a year ago. She was just on some kind of meds to keep her blood from clotting, and they had her up and moving around a LOT right after surgery. Hope this helps!!! -
Oh I really do hope you're being sarcastic. Actually, the flamingoes crack me up, but I also look at it from the standpoint that I want to put my house on the market before too long and my neighbor's yard looking like garbage also drags down the value of my own home. (Although I have noticed the fake plant people haven't had them out, so maybe my HOA is worth something afterall.)
-
I would just like to thank you for written proof that I am NOT the only one who does that. YAY!!! I plan on showing it to my DH when he gets home.

Ok This 2 shake and 1-meal a day crap is really hard...
KristeyK replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Lord, how did you not slap those people? lol. (OK, not really lol.) It's hard enough doing that at home, I couldn't imagine people at work doing that around me!!! Just keep up the good work. ONE WEEK TO GO!!! It'll fly by fast. -
Take it from someone who has six or seven neighbors who do the fake plants thing.... DON'T DO IT!!!! Unless you're willing to spend a LOT of money on things that look like they belong there and change it up seasonally, or when the weather beats them up they're going to look BAD in a few weeks. One thing I can suggest to you is this: I have seen kits at Lowe's that are drip systems for potted plants. Heck, you can even buy a regular system that will work off of your hose bib and you can put the individual emitters into the pots, turn on the water and leave them be. That's what I did when I was an apt. dweller living in downtown Phoenix. (Trust me, if I can get petunias and tomatoes to live through a summer in Phoenix, it'll work where you're at too.)
-
Count me as another one who says for you to get the Neti Pot. They are little miracles!!! I had a sinus infection for a MONTH this winter, a BAD one, and after using it three times I was pretty much cleared up. Now that it's allergy season I use it once a day and I haven't really had any problems with my allergies for the first time in YEARS.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I haven't been banded yet, but I remember being winded and having the phlegmy sore throat after I had my gall bladder removed. Good luck and I hope you can sleep in your bed soon.

Vitamin Supplements w/Iron
KristeyK replied to Kat56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. says to take a children's chewable that says "plus iron" on it. The lady who teaches the pre-op class recommends the Equate ones at Walmart. They have enough enough vitamins and minerals in them for us AND they're economical. (She also mentioned another brand, I think it's One Source, but I do remember it said Super Kids on the bottle.) We're told to chew two per day in the morning. -
Congrats on having it done already!!! (My date isn't for another week.) How are you feeling? Oh yeah, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
-
OK, so my surgeon isn't having me do a pre-op diet. I was thinking that maybe I should do it though. It's my thought process that I'd rather be used to the taste and the routine of the liquid diet BEFORE I go and get the surgery. (Plus a little weight loss before hand couldn't be too bad either, right?) Do y'all think I should?:confused2: (I was going to go on ahead and do the full two weeks, so I'd be starting it on the 1st.) Thanks in advance!!!:coolgleamA:
