I understand. It’s an emotional rollercoaster as it is and add pain to the mix and it can really get you down. One day at a time and hopefully we will all be looking back on this in a few months and say, “yeah that was nothing”. Ha ha
-
You’re not being dramatic. It’s a major trauma to your body and everyone has a different tolerance for pain. Try the meds, stay hydrated and walk as much as you can (this helps with the pain a lot) and rest as much as you can in between it will get better. I’m only one day ahead of you and today was the best day I’ve had so far. If things get worse or unmanageable call doctor. Hang in there and feel better!!!
-
I had mine on Monday and I was in hell Monday and Tuesday when meds wore off but was able to control it with pain meds. I’m home and still very sore but manageable with liquid Tylenol and ice on and off
-
Deanayeah did they give you pain meds?
-
Good luck to everyone going in! I had mine done on Monday. Everything went well other than the couple of things that came up during surgery. I needed a hiatal hernia repair and tons of scar tissue removed. I woke up in a tons of pain but was able to manage throughout the night and day yesterday. I was up and walking around with no issues and it helped a lot with gas. Force yourself to walk walk walk. I came home yesterday afternoon and slept until this morning. I’ve been managing the pain with liquid Tylenol and to my aurprise that has helped. I already can tell my biggest issue is going to be getting these liquids in because your body tells you no more very quickly. I am already up and about and if it stays this way then I would say, even with the extras during surgery, this recovery will not be that bad at all. Good luck everyone and pray I can get these liquids in today

Had my surgery this morning and laying in hospital bed waiting for meds so thought I would share a bit... May surgery ended up to be a bit more complicated. Doctor found a hernia that needed to be repaired so He did that. Also, there was a significant amount of scar tissues In different areas they called adhesions that had to be removed. Surgery too 315 mins. I woke in recover in the most God awful pain, not trying to scare Antrim just being real, and I was hysterically crying. They think the “extra” stuff cause a lot more pain. They gave me plenty of pains meds. I rested in bed for the rest of the day until 845pm I thought I should try and get up to move and advoid has pains. I walked up and down one long hallway and that was enough for me for the first time but I did it. I am going in and out of sleep and was going to go home tomorrow. But with the extras my doctor said maybe a second night. I can’t wait to start to drink again. The ice chips aren’t doing it!!! I’ll keep everyone posted

Surgery is tomorrow morning and I have knots in my stomach I could puke! I have had a few surgeries and it doesn’t usually both me but all of a sudden I am sooooooo anxious. Wish me luck!!!

I’m scheduled for 10/1 and getting super anxious. I am on day 11 of pre op liquids and I’ve lost 14 lbs. I’m wondering how much weight everyone else has lost.
-
Day 9 of liquids. I am down 11 lbs. this is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I never realized how obsessed with food I actually am. I have 3 more days of this and surgery Monday. Praying for easier time after surgery with a smaller stomach! Thanks for letting me come here and vent often

Have you tried different shakes? Can you have anything else like yogurt or something else with higher protein?
-
Just wondering about two things here. Has anyone’s doctor said they are sending them home with no pain meds? I had my pre op yesterday and the nurse told me that and I asked why and she said I’ll only need Tylenol. Also, on my upper GI showed a moderate amount of reflux so doctor asked me if I wanted to switch to having the bypass. I do not want to switch but they said reflux could get worse. I am praying not. Feeling a little uncertain today. I am on day 8 of liquids. I lost 10 pounds. I am starving to death and just scraped I’m going to come home In toms of pain and having worse reflux than I do. Ugh so much to worry about

I would like to update everyone on my pre op liquid diet because I posted a couple days ago freaking out. First I am going to say if I can do this you can all do it!! I think we are all similar in som way to our issues with food but trust me I thought I was going to die. I cried and cried and cried the day before and the day I started. It hasn’t been easy but it is getting easier!!!! First day I think I was in shock! I went through the motions not realizing what the hell I was doing. Days two and three I struggling baddddddd. My body was clearly detoxing from all of the crap and I was feeling it. Day 4 I was super emotional and didn’t feel great but not as horrible as day 2 and 3 but was still upset because I didn’t think t was going to get better. Yesterday was day 5 and today day 6 and at this point it would be ridiculous for me to “cheat”. I can’t believe I’ve come this far. I can’t stay on a “diet” for two days but I can do full liquids for 6 days???? My doctor requires full liquids and nothing with chunks at all, not even soup so he is pretty strict. I’ve lost 8 pound and my surgery is in one week. I also have a husband and three kids that i grocery shop for And cook for. It has been a challenge but is getting easier every day. You can all do it trust me!!!!!
-
I didn’t mean to worry anyone yesterday who has not started pre op diet. Today is day 5 for me and I woke up feeling much better. I never thought I would get through one day so this is a huge accomplishment. I do find it very ironic that I typically cannot stay on a diet, hence me having weight loss surgery, but I can go full liquids. Crazy! I just want to follow the rules so I can lessen the chance of any complications. I did gain a pound but still down 7. I haven’t been pooping much (tmi) but probably why I gained. I shouldn’t be weighing myself everyday I know but if I have to survive this I will do it lolllll. Good luck to everyone and I answered my own question. It does get easier?
-
The first day I was in shock I think, second day by far the worst. I had the worst headache ever and couldn’t stop pooping (tmi). I did expect this as our bodies detox. My headache has gotten a lot better but I’m just so exhausted and starving!!!! I’m trying so so hard but I just want to sleep for the next week!!!

I am scheduled 10/1. Has anyone started the pre op liquid diet? I am on day 4 and down 8lbs. It I dying on this and feel like absolute crap and need some help!!! Anyone feeling any better after starting it

Starting my Pre-Op Liquid Diet - it's TOUGH
aapb79Gmail.com replied to Camalli26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am on day 3 of pre op diet. Yesterday was absolute hell for me and today I do feel a little better. I just had a question. Is anyone counting calories also? I am starving to death and I want to drink more but they said don’t drink too many calories just make sure you get your protein and liquid in. I didn’t ask but does anyone have a range of calories they are sticking too or do the calories not matter? And yes doing everything sugar free -
I’m starving
aapb79Gmail.com replied to PrettyGirlLJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started my liquid diet yesterday and cried most of the day. I am Addicted to food and yesterday made me realize how badly and it’s so sad. I woke up this morning feeling like shit! My head hurts so bad and I cannot stop going to the bathroom. I know my body is starting to detox but I am struggling. Has anyone been through feeling horrible the first couple days? Does it get easier??? -
Lapband to sleeve
aapb79Gmail.com replied to Sammi93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the lapband 12 years ago lost roughly 85 lbs and kept it off until 6 months ago they had to deflate my band because of issues. I also had two children within those years. I’ve gained 43 lbs within the 6 months and they removed my lapband on 8/13. My doctor refuses to do the surgeries at the same time because he said you should let your insides heal. I tend to be on the more cautious side so I want thankful for this and totally agree. I know some doctors see no issue in doing both and also personal choice. My insurance originally approved me for both at once but approved two separate once my doctor wrote a letter. Believe me it is not ideal to have two but in a way I’m thankful, I just get paranoid I guess. I’m due to have sleeve shirts 10/1. No matter what you go with good luck!!! -
Two questions.......Being sleeves after Lapland.....Opinions on driving to soon
aapb79Gmail.com posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all for reading and helping. I have researched these topics but looking for some specific advice. I had lapband 12 years ago and I am curious if anyone else has been sleeved after the band how different are the recoveries? I know different for everyone but in general I’d like to hear experiences. Needing some advice on my job....I work as a nanny, he is a teenager so I’m really just a taxi driver. I am not telling my boss about this surgery, for personal reasons, but did tell her I’m having surgery. I literally drive him to and from school and can rest the rest of the day. I am having surgery on a Monday and staying over 1 night. I was hoping to be able to drive him on Thursday or Friday. Would I be crazy for doing this? I keep reading different things about some up and feeling good few days after and others not for weeks. I am 39 and other than obese I am in very good health and stay active as I have 3 of my own kids. Just wanting some opinions. Thanks so much!!! -

Thank you everyone for your responses! I probably should’ve added that I do know enough not to drive on narcotics but assuming I was off would I be crazy to try that soon! It’s interesting to read about scar tissue being an issue.y doctor didn’t seem to be concerned at all about the sleeve after band, two separate surgeries obviously and my doctor is very very cautious. Hopefully it doesn’t become an issue. I appreciate all of the feedback! -
I was shocked!!!!!
