I'm glad that someone made this thread because I've often wondered myself about getting preg. after being banded.....I'm just 21 and I really don't want any kids right now but in a way I do and I just wondered if it was hard to get preg. & with the band does the baby get enough food/protien/vitamins to stay healthy.....

Question: Was I too hard on the hubby?
illude replied to skbishop78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL well I did say a few choice words that was probably immature at the moment....but what gets me....is after they've already hurt your feelings...."oh i was just playing with you why are u so serious all the time"......try to play it off slick when they really just didn't think before they opened their mouth the begin with... -
Question: Was I too hard on the hubby?

I'm not so sure but I'm begining to think that the majority of the "men" that don't have a problem with weight are unsupportive & smartass's when it comes to us. B'cuz my man although we aren't married he is the same way I cook for him everyday although most the time I don't eat because he is a beef eater and I can't eat beef....BUT never-the-less he knows that i've been trying really hard to meet my goal weight and lastnight he really up-set me....maybe I'm too sensitive but he's all the time telling me "you don't need to lose anymore weight, your fine how u are if i didn't like u big then I wouldn't be with u" well he knew that I had my surgery when we first got together to be smaller I didn't do this for him I did it for myself but lastnight we was talking about my doctor's appt. Monday I'm hoping I've lost atleast 20lbs when i go back but he just comes out of no-where and says "no I don't believe u've lost anything b'cuz if u had I would be able to pick u up and carry you"........that hurt my feelings because he knows I'm senstive ....and he's skinny so it doesn't matter what he eats or how much he eats......I just think that all men are unsensitive and smartass's to a certain extent....i'll get over this eventually....lol but I think that maybe we should be like them in certain cases....something that's really special or important to them that they are sensitive about just bash it like they do us at times......LOL i don't know I'm ramblin'.....but you wasn't at all hard on him he deserves for u to be angry with him... -
When I was first Banded I did the same thing I lost about 50lbs in the first 4 months and then I went for a good 3 months with out losing a pound matter fact I gained 10lbs on one visit...then he started doing more fills and that's when I started to lose more weight. I totally understand about the junk food going down but the real/good food not. I could eat a candy-bar and it wouldn't make me sick or anything but as soon as I ate something healthy I was getting sick. I think that has to do with your chewing though. B'cuz the candy-bars I usually ate was hersheys and they was easy to just melt with no chunks or anything and they could be eaten fast. When I first had the surgery I still had a bad habit of wanting to eat fast like I use to do. Then after gaining weight instead of losing I had to set my mind to what I wanted and what I had the surgery for. Which I've done really good. But I think if you just use more mind control and eat small bites but chew really well and LEAVE the junk food alone just tell yourself you payed that money to get to the goal weight u set and continuously tell youself that everyday it may work for u. The getting sick thing I would deffinately talk to your doctor b'cuz that's not really normal unless your band is too-tight. Well atleast that's always been my situation.....I would consult with your doctor and just tell him what's going on and maybe your not losing anymore because of the junk food I sometimes get hungry but Yougart is really good to fill me up maybe u should try different types of healthier foods that have a great taste sort of like a candy-bar or different candy LOL I know that's about impossible but there is other options that are farely good..... Good luck & congrats on what you've lost thus far!

I think it's wonderful to have great support! When I first went to be banded I was really scared but my family was there and this lady that was putting a iv in my wrist to monitor my blood-pressure during the surgery thought she had it in right and she didn't when she pulled the needle back out blood went everywhere and about the time this happen my brother was walking back to wish me luck before I went under for surgery and he got really shakey and almost started to cry because he seen all the blood....he was more scared for me than I was....lol but i really think it's good to have support and people that really care & show that they care that gives u more strength and seems to calm me down if i'm scared

Well...I've Had My Band For 2 Years and always after a fill it's straight liquid which for me is usually juices & soup.....but after 5 days I always begin to eat yougart, oatmeal, gravy, then after about the 4th day I eat basically anything I want, other than red-meats ...my meats is mostly chicken or fish and I rarely eat bread because sometimes it agrees with me sometimes it doesnt which im sure that's all in how well u chew too ....but rice & all veggies, fruits, pastas ....Ive really not found anything I can't eat other than red-meats & bread

thank you all so much for your comments! I'm not really use to many comments I never had anyone to talk to about this I've always been kind of aloner I never talked to anyway I always stayed stuck infront of the computer but doing nothing of this sort. I always did web-design I never got into forums or anything like that so this is all kind of new to me but I'm starting to enjoy this. As for the questions Puddinpie...I was banded 2 years ago Actually November 13, 2004 So this past november Made 2 Years I've been banded. The first few months I really didn't lose alot of weight It was kind of slow. The past year 2005 is when I really lost alot of weight over 200lbs In 2005 I really didn't have a strategy, the more I went to the doctor and found out I had lost more it just kind of inspired me to work harder and excersize more. However there is alot of skin I was pushing 600lbs I can't hardly believe that there is anyway to tighten all of that up. But I've been trying. The more I lost the harder I worked, I just felt extremely good about myself after losing more & more. Now it's as-if I have a whole new life, I can do things I was never able to do before.
