reflux, severe abdominal pain, miserable

I have had similar problems. I had gastritis and esophogeal erosion. It is getting better, but slow. I have to be real careful about what I eat and when. Spicy foods or milk products irritate the esophogeal erosion, then I vomit, and that makes the gastritis and erosion worse. I have not been completely unfilled, but if things don't improve a little faster, it may come to that. -
I have had simular problems. I think I was filled to a good spot, but thought I would lose easier if I were a little tighter, so my doctor filled it. I did OK at first, but got to PBing and vomitting. Pretty soon, I couldn't really eat anything that wasn't liquid. It felt like the band was getting tighter. I had a little removed, but the process started over within a few weeks of PB, vomitting, and being too tight. Had two more unfills and went through it all again. Finally I had a scope done and they found I had esophogeal erosion from all the PB and vomitting. I had more taken out, but not all and am on Nexium. I am doing better now and planning to have a small fill next week. I have really tested the band with all the vomitting and lucky not to have a slip. My advice, don't get too tight, eat slow, take small bites. Vomitting can make you swell, so take it easy after vomitting or even PBing. Also, I love the unflavored Unjury protein.

I just looked online and it is the same as I have been getting at GNC only cheaper. Saundra, I need your member account # to get you credit for the referral. You can post it or email me at gimson@centurytel.net. Good luck with surgery! -

Thanks for the info. This is cheaper than the ones GNC has. I will have to order and I will do your referral. -
HELP!! Food is getting stuck so easily!
efan82 replied to foxxymama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor gives out this recipe for when things get stuck. It should be 4 oz. warm water with 1 tsp meat tenderizer and 1 tsp lemon juice. You sip it. I have tried it, it is OK. -
My doctor said a slip would make you vomit every thing you try to eat. He has never had one slip, so what would he know.

Welcome! I love my band. I have been able to lose weight in the past, but now I have the confidence that it will stay off! I have lost quicker than I expected and it has not been a lot of work. My band is at a good spot. I eat fairly slow, and stop when I'm full. If you overeat, you will throw up. My band was too tight for a while, so I got a little taken out. When it was too tight, I would throw up easy. I was doing that about every other day and was afraid it would slip. My doctor said he has never had one slip, but agreed that it was too tight. I don't get hungry much. I still have a problem with taking too much food, but the band won't let me overeat!

I was so glad to find this thread. I am having this trouble each month. My band seems to be filled kinda tight anyway, so it is really hard with PMS swelling. I try to do soups at that time and I take HCTZ also. I have found that the warm fluids go down better.

GNC does sell protein bullets that are whey protein. I gag them down. I didn't think of mixing them with juice - I will have to try that!

is it hunger, gas, or fullness?

I also had those weird feelings that I couldn't interpret. I had my first fill at 2 1/2 weeks post-op and they went away. I can now tell hunger from gas. I did notice at the weird feeling stage that if I drank something, it would feel better, but then it seemed to pass past the band and I would have those feelings back again. With the fill, things do not pass so easy and I don't have that anymore. -
Even if your surgery was something else like gall bladder, you need to give your stomach time to heal. You will notice things are not the same. You will hear strange rumblings, cramps, and your bowels may be different. Give everything time to properly heal. This is an expensive proceedure that you don't want to mess up. Good luck! Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!

What did you find the hardest to deal with post op?
efan82 replied to kizzie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my first fill, I had gone there with an empty stomach. After my doctor did the fill, I was suppose to drink. I was really thirsty, so without thinking, I took a big gulp - it felt like I drank a golf ball. I wasn't sure it would go down. I am also having a hard time getting used to my new portion sizes. That is a good problem to have. It teaches me to eat slow so I don't hurt by eating too much. -
Liquid Protein 42gms per 3oz
efan82 replied to whaletail's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get these from GNC. My nutritionist also said that you can't absorb that much at once, to I only drink half at a time. I don't really like the way they taste, so I wash it down with a drink. The ones I get have 176 calories in the 42 g protein one. It is called New Whey liquid protein. GNC also has one with 27 grams of protein called Protein SLAM! It has 100 calories in 3 oz.
