Lap Band friendly Dr in Tampa, FL
bobbil replied to mztonya710's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is about 35 miles from Tampa depending where in Tampa you are located. My Primary Care doctor is Mildred Pazmino-Vera 727-815-3312. I am not sure she is taking new patients or not. Doesn't take Avmed I know because I had to change insurance co. to stay with her several years ago. She encouraged me to get the band done for several years before I finally did it. Who is going to do your band? I have a friend who is going to someone in Tampa, can't remember his name. Good Luck! -
New and needing Protein Shake HELP!!!
bobbil replied to MeganMatters's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love my protein shakes. I take 8 oz of skim milk, 4 oz of flavored non fat yogurt and 2 scoops of Anywhey protein powder from GNC. The flavored yogurt gives it some flavor. Put in the majic bullet and blend away. This about 42 grams of protein. Have some fun with it! -

Do you live in Tampa or somewhere near Tampa? I am from Pasco County. My Primary Care doctor is great but is in New Port Richey. If you want her info email me. I am fan of any other the doctors in the Baycare network. That is St. Joe and Morton Plant Mease hospitals. If I don't hear from you, good luck to you. -
Anyone else close to being under 300lbs????
bobbil replied to Tess415's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also just reached the 300 mark. I cried when I got to move that clunker thing on the scale to the 250 mark. 287 today. It is a great feeling. Keep up the good work. I will be following your progress, can't wait to see you all hit the mark!! -
Chillie, Please don't be upset. You don't say how much you have lost but this is really a slow process. I also thought it would be much faster. I told my surgeon that and he said if I wanted fast I should have gone for the by-pass instead. He was happy with the 16 that I lost in 6 weeks. I thought he was going to be disappointed in me. My first fill has helped some, but I plan for another in a month or so. I hit the 20 pound mark today. I worked hard for that one!! Hang in there.

I also feel the hunger pains! I am 30 day post op and only lost 11 pounds. I feel like I am sticking to the diet, I an now on mushies and transitioning to regular food. I have been dying for one of those McDonald's Southern Chicken sandwiches for weeks. Then I got a free coupon in the mail for a free one. I broke down and got it and nibbled on about 3/4 of it and it was great! The best part was that I stayed full for a long time. The protein shakes help most of the time. I was hoping for more loss also, but a couple pounds a week coming off is better them coming on. I get my first fill on June 2nd. I also hope it helps with the hungry pains. Hang it there this is going to work. We just need to get through for a few more weeks. Take care and be well! -
Help! I'm starving and depressed!

Boy the weight is slow to come off. I am 30 days post op and have lost 11 pounds. I am sure it is more than I would of lost with out the band. I am better on mushie food and I have noticed is am not as hungry. I get to start regular food this week and will be on vacation. I am sure that will be hard. I don't have my first fill until June 2nd. I am hoping that will help me loose a little more weight. -

I hear you honey!!! I was banded 4/21/2008 and I am on full liquids and I am really hungry. I was out of work for a week and when I went back to work someone brought a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I burst into tears when I saw it and cried for an hour. I finally had to admit that food was in control and take some responsibility. I am still hungry between "meals" but I am more able to wait it out. I am making my soups a little thicker and sipping on those protein shakes. I can't wait until the mushies!! I have a week to go! But I broke the 300 pound barrier today and I will stick to it and so will you. Take care and be well. -
Sounds all to familiar to me. I was banded 5/21 and last weekend I thought I was dying! All I could think of was "what Have I done!!!". It does get better. Make sure you eat what you are supposed to, try some mint tea for the gas and get up and get out! Walk all that you can. I was really weak but I realized I was not putting any fuel in the tank so to speak. I pushed an ounce at a time and started to feel better energywise anyway. The gas finally passed . Don't hide away and feel sorry for yourself. You can do this! Take care and be well!

These all sound so familiar. I was banded 4/21/08 and boy the gas was bad. It hit me about 5 days after surgery. I found sipping mint tea and walks seemed to help me. Guilt kept me from chosing to do the band for years. I had to get to the point where I had no other choices and that I could not do it on my own. I am still afraid of failing but I am going to try my best. It is good to know that others have the same feelings. Take care and be well.
