I have been gone pretty much since signing up so still have lots to learn. My son was helping me for a bit. Looks fun though. I've already reconnected with a few folks I hadn't talked to in a long time. Thanks for the invites (when I find them LOL).

Yeah I guess I had to find out what was a tad too tight to realize what my sweet spot really was. But it's really good right now, so hopefully this is it. At least I have free fills if I need more, but have no plans for one. Since it is so yucky and cold out, I am making DH dinner in the crockpot. to me it looks so gross but hope he likes it. He's a hunter and had a rabbit in the fridge so found a recipe for a crockpot rabbit on recipezaar. Looks like I'll be having one of the frozen fishes I have in the freezer for just such an occassion. I rely on frozen fish filets when I'm fixing him one of his 'critters'. I envy your 80's (not the 90s) and know it will be here soon. Heck we are supposed to be mid 70's in 2 days. How quick the weather changes this time of year. Well just got out my trashbags so better get at my closet. Then I can take them too Goodwill and say goodbye to them.

Morning gang! BRRRRR it is cold and right now raining. We are suppoesd to get either a couple inches of rain or a couple feet of snow. So the more rain I see the better. But it had better blizzard, we were to go out of town for the night and cancelled due to the dire weather predictions. I believe I am at my sweet spot now. Ever since my slight unfill no more reflux, still great restriction and have been losing a little here and there this week. When I get stuck I've always thrown it up immediately as well. Have never had one of those couple hour episodes, hope I never do. Whenever I do have a problem though it's because I ate too fast or too big a bite and is normally early in my meal. I usually have to excuse myself, it comes up, and then I can usually finish my meal. Seeing as how I have nothing on my agenda today since I'm not supposed to be here, might be a good time to clean my closet and get rid of stuff that has hung in there for years. I've gotten rid of a lot but have somethings that were harder to part with. Even go through my shoes and underwear.

Welcome to the banded life! Glad everything went well. I think it's normal to gain after surgery, I know I did all those fluids, swelling etc. Don't sweat too much about losing the first 6 weeks, it's time for healing. The losses will come. Congrats! -

I'm not sure it stopped the hair loss as I still felt I lost a lot but it did slow down. And I have lots of new growth coming in I can see under my bangs. I took Biotin, I got it al Walmart and it was cheap. I took 2 a day (there were 2 strengths I got the smaller strength and took 2). I also got some special shampoo/conditioner triple pack at Sally's Beauty supply. I think it was called NutriOx it is their version of Nioxin only much cheaper. It was shampoo, conditioner and then a leave in treatment. I'm out of all of it now and don't seem to be losing anymore hair so haven't restocked up. Even though I read a lot about hair loss it was still freaky when it happened to me and I saw all that hair in my bathroom. -
Strike, Congrats on the new job!! That'll teach your boss for transferring you and cutting your pay. What goes around comes around, too bad if she's upset, you are going to better things. Cathy, so great to see you again, now don't you go disappearing again! Would love to see pics but I'm not on Facebook. Just got home from my volunteering at the hospital. And.....guess who they asked to train to become a support group leader??? I'm scared to death yet excited at the same time. The formal training isn't til Oct. but I will be doing some sort of online training via Obesity Help in the meantime. Not sure when I will start. We have 2 leaders at my group. We meet every other week and it's a different leader on the 1st week than it is the 3rd week. Well the 1st week leader had to step down. So......will keep you posted. It's for byapss and band and they also want me to observe some more surgeries! That sounds exciting, I really enjoyed it when I did observe the band surgery last fall.

If you go back a page or so, Mrs Bubba posted yesterday but nothing since then. And yes your total meal should be no more than a cup or so. And 80% of that should be protein and protein eaten first, at least that is per my instructions. As for travelling, can you take some food with you? I know we shouldn't rely on Protein Bars but sometimes for travel they come in handy. don't forget your water! Congrats on no gain! Not many people can come home from the land of the buffet and not gain! WOOHOO!!

VZ & Apples your talk about opening your cottages/cabin for the summer is bringing back so many memories for me. My sweetest childhood memories are of going 'up north' to my grandparents (both sets had one) cottages in northern Wisconsin. I think it was those times that I was truly the happiest growing up. It probably had a lot more to do with the doting and unconditional love given to me by my grandparents but I associate it with the cottage. Oh the lake, the woods, yep even the pump and the outhouse Iloved it all. I'm sure the cottages all have indoor plumbing and no outhouses or pumps anymore but it added to the charm as a child. As for racing Allie to goal, I secretly am. LOL She's always been a few pounds ahead of me in the losses but I do my best when I am pursuing someone in front of me. I'll take 2nd or 3rd behind her and is it Teach & Strike that are right there too? I know just what you are talking about, Allie, about changing your goal. My doc had said anything under 180 so at first I was going to get to 179.9 because I just knew that was impossible. And now I am 7.1 lbs away from that. I've now changed it to 169 for the normal BMI, but have thoughts of 160 too. What amazes me is the sizes I am able to get into now. Originally I was going to be happy with a 14 as it meant I was solidly in 'normal sizes', but a 12 would be the ultimate. Now I am buying 10's. If I do lose 17 more to get to 169, could I be an 8? That doesn't seem possible. But I remember as a young 20 bride I wanted so bad to be able to wear a 9 (isn't that the same as a 10 in misses) and I couldn't and I was in the 130s. I'm convinced sizes run bigger these days. At 18 I had dieted on a liquid Protein (aka Valerie Harper of Rhoda & Mary Tyler more fame diet) and my goal was to get to 120, I got to 125 and still could not wear my sisters 'perfect size 9's' (per my mother) and had to get 11's. And now wouldn't you know it, I find a fit of jeans I love at the Gap called Essential jeans. I have them down to a size 10L and now they are discontinuing them. I want to stock up but just don't know what size to stock up on. do I get more 10L's or do I chance it and get 8's? I hate to waste the money if I guess wrong. Allie, I am happiest on 3 meals a day too. Last I saw my doc I promised to shoot for 5, it's hard, I don't like it but am trying. Now let's see if this posts. My screen just did a weird flashy thing, brought me back to my post and said I had to wait 20 seconds to post????

Allie, when did you ticker change to 122 lbs lost?? Congrats!! Last I noticed I thought it was 117 or 118 or something so you had a big drop. After getting my last fill and having reflux it's probably smart of your doc to hold off a bit. I probably shouldn't have gotten my last one. My doc gives us a form to fill out too for fills. It asks things such as how many hours between meals, how big of portions, what percentage is protein, etc. Then we discuss whether or not to get a fill. I had to do the form for my unfill too. They don't charge for unfills, just fills. But luckily I don't have to pay for those either as a benefit of my volunteering. Looks like a gorgeous spring day here. The weather has been so spoaradic here, nice one day, cold and yuck the next. one of these days it's gonna have to just stay nice, don't ya think??

No need to worry about me going near an oyster! GROSS!!! But thanks for the tip because now I can just say I can't eat them instead of won't eat them. That's weird about not getting a fill because you lost so good. That's the exact reason my office gives you a fill, because you lost so much and the band loosens up as you lose the fat pad around your tummy between it and the band. All these docs seem to have such varying opinions on fills, preop/post op diets, etc. Though I had to have my last fill taken out due to the refulx at night which has totally gone away now so that's good. And I've lost 1 1/2 lbs since so guess it hasn't hurt the restriction any. I was worried.

Get ready, Apples, WOOHOO!!!! Down another pound today! total of 116 1/2 now! Thanks for the comments on my photo. I did wear a new outfit. I had gotten some new white jeans (Ann Taylor of course) and a blouse but the weather was so cold I wore a new spring sweater instead and new white sandals (though I froze my toes LOL). I feel wonderful. I have 9 lbs to go to get to my docs highest goal for me, 19 to get to a normal BMI which is what I am shooting for. Never in a million years did I think I'd have less than 20 lbs to lose to be a 'normal' weight. Easter was good. No candy, a little of too cooked aka dried ham that didn't set well so I was able to stay in pretty good control. That and the fact my inlaws aren't the greatest cooks and I was good! LOL Welcome Meredith. I can tell you I had the last supper syndrome, plus I was on a cruise a week before my surgery so I really had last supper syndrome (and last diet coke syndrome). I think it's normal. But even when I was on my cruise I tried to concentrate on what my new way of eating was going to be. I concentrated on eating my protein first, then veggies, and then very few carbs. It helps me so much after surgery to get in that habit before. Plus by eating that way on the cruise, even though the portions were huge, I lost 5 lbs on the cruise! Good luck to you and I hope you insurance approval is quick. You sound very ready for surgery. PBDOVE, No, no pasta and potatoes. You should be eating mushy proteins when you get the mushy stage. Things like scrambled eggs or egg beaters, refried beans, cottage cheese, etc. Very few of your calories should come in the forms of white carbs (things like bread, pasta and potatoes). Congrats on the band!! -
I'm enjoying the recent picture postings. What a gorgeous group we have here! Can't remember if I mentioned here or not the possibility of me speaking at my docs next surgery seminar. Well i am. April of last year is when I first went to my seminar to check this all out so it's my one year seminar anniversary! LOL I will be part of the panel of patients at the end. Not sure what I will say yet, but something along the lines of what a difference a year makes. Last year I sat there with bearly a glimmer of hope I'd ever take off the weight. After the seminar I had a little glimmer and here I am after a year 116 lbs lighter! Might take a before photo or pair of jeans to show the difference. It's not until Sat. the 25th.

Cheryl, It is very important not to drink with your meals. when I eat out I just order Water, but just because when you say nothing it seems to throw the waiters off. You can still do Mexican and Chinese but just have to do it different. For example at Mexican you may just want to get some refried Beans or one crispy taco (the crispy shells I have no problems with but have gotten stuck on the soft ones). Chinese you could get some chicken and veggies. Usually when we do Chinese I just order some egg drop Soup and then eat a few pieces of chicken off of my husbands plate. Many times we split an entree. Phyl offers some great advice. Bread is a big no no and in fact too much bread or Pasta can stretch the pouch, or so they say. My day looks like this: Breakfast - used to be an egg beater omelet but I was having such fiber/constipation issues I've now switched that to Kashi Go Lean cereal which is packed with protein and fiber. Lunch - usually some type of chicken, dinner - some type of meat and a veggie. Portions are about 1/2 cup to 1 cup max. I usually have one or two small Snacks in there. If you are able to eat more than 1 cup it might be time for a fill, but before knowing for sure, try a few days on strict bandster rules. By that I mean the small meals, hard protein first, then veggie, then a possible carb. If that doesn't fill you or keep you full you may need a fill. Good Luck! Hope everyone had a great Easter.
