    I'm here to help...

Well gals, I could only go so long without shopping. I went exploring just a little bit today. I found a TJMaxx close to me. I've heard you gals talk about them before but one was never close to me, they had them in Denver but not by me. I found a Jones NY knit cardigan type lightweight to put on when I am always cold and another shirt that is a little wild for me (zebra print) but thought what the heck. I'll bring it to Vegas! Also at Target I saw the Champion pants you gals like. Question, which fit do you get? They had I think fitted, relaxed and semi fitted or something like that. There were 3 different ones and I was confused. LOL Re: Vegas rooms. Part of me wants to share to keep the cost down, but part of me is scared to death to share with someone. I went on a gals trip on a cruise once (actually a Richard Simmons cruise to Lose) and my room mate went on and on to everyone that would listen about how I snored. I vowed to never share again I am so concerned about that. DH says I don't snore since losing weight but I don't trust him. So guess I will go my own room. I looked at airfares today, really cheap so am going to book a confirmed flight so I don't have flight hassles like I did for FL and then couldn't go. I stayed at the Riviera years ago, it wasn't real nice but I understand it's been renovated so not sure probably nicer now. Arlene, Mirage is a beautiful hotel but I've never seen their rooms I am sure they are nice. Well my concrete guy called. Seems yesterday he dropped his phone in a bucket of water, hence to returned phone calls and he didn't have our number but in his phone. We had a huge windstorm here yesterday so that put them behind a day, he's going to try and get here this afternoon to form it if not first thing in the mornign and they will pour on Sat. morning. Guess there was lots of wind damage around town on the news last night, 50 to 60 mph winds. One of my patio chairs is now in my window well, just glad it didn't bust the glass when it blew down there.

I really like the Monte Carlo and it's convenient, but if that's difficult for Jodi, I vote for another strip hotel and not the Vegas Hilton it sits so far back off the strip. New York looks nice and I've heard the Luxor is really different with it's slanting walls. DH stayed at a new one called Aria a few weeks ago said it was really neat but I think it might be pricey. How many nights are we talking? 2 or 3?? Laura, I wonder the same thing about my adult children all the time, do they ever grow up? There's just no follow through with my kids or sense of urgency. Due dates are just suggestions etc. Of course, I always think I did something wrong raising them but know it's their own choices now. Eva, hope you get things sorted out with your sister issues. One nice thing about moving away from CO is I am away from the extended family issues. LOL Not that DH's sister hasn't pulled a few stunts via email already. LOL Well my concrete guys didn't show yesterday. I am not sure if I misunderstood or what. DH is going to try calling them again today. They came highly recommended and seemed really good to work with, we have not paid any money yet though. Will try and get a pic of the hail car, not sure how well the damage will show on a pic. I never think of it as the car is never here during the day when I do think of it.

Good afternoon. Looks like we will keep our hail damaged car and about $6000 settlement, if we completely totalled it we'd get about $3700 more but then probably wouldn't find as reliable car for the money. DH is set on keeping it and says he's the one driving it and doesn't car about the hail dings. So that's the plan, want to be sure with DMV that it's not a problem with registering and titling it though. Also, we will only have to carry liability insurance now as they won't cover it for damage again. I guess I can give on this one to DH since it basically is his car that he drives anyway. And those Camrys are just so darn reliable and go on forever. We are having one heck of a windy day here today, nice but windy. And since this is a new subdivsion with lots of empty lots the dust/dirt is flying, you'd never know I dusted a few hours ago even with the windows shut. Arlene, I had to control myself not to buy lots of other stuff in that show. The pink ring was selling out when I got mine but don't think I'd have gotten it anyway, I have lots of stuff that will match this blackish color. I had no idea what size to order so got an 8 and am hoping it fits the ring or middle finger on my right hand which is always bigger than my left. Linda, loved the dog story. I think they do have a way of finding us. I would've thought our car woes would've stopped at 3 but we've had 4 now: 1) pheasant, 2) car jacking, 3) bear, and now 4) hail. I hope this doesn't mean another set of 3 woes and we have 2 more to go on this car! Kurby, try slowly adapting your eating style to post band is what my dr recommended before surgery. So if you have McD's, have the burger patties but not the bun, stuff like that. Take it slow and by the time surgery comes around you will have some healthy habits beginning. Hope that helps. Before surgery I went on a cruise, I just concentrated on protein and nothing else and I came home 3 lbs lighter! Laura, what's the news on Dad??

Charlene, what color pearl did you get in your ring? I got it today too in the black. I am a sucker for the artisan crafted as well and in particular the stuff from Indonesia, it reminds me of John Hardy stuff and somewhat of David Yurman as well in some things. And the price is so reasonable. I had to restrain myself from other stuff. Well the insurance guy called and looks like DH is going to win this one. The difference in what they will give us to cash us out on the car or that we keep the car is $3000. So for $3000 less we can keep the car which is only 4 yrs old and in excellent shape mechanically and DH wants to 'drive it to the ground' and save they money. It's a converation piece anyway, we get tons of comments on it. Funny our history with cars lately. Everyone gave us a bad time that our last car was cursed as we had a broken grill in the front from a collision with a pheasant in SD, then there was the dents and paint chips from the gun when DH was carjacked, and then the bear claw scratches from when the bear got into that car camping. So we finally get rid of that car (DS has it) now we have a hail dinged up car. Julie, sorry to hear about the tooth, just what you need to do today is sit in the dentist chair but so glad they are getting you in right away??

Good morning! Apples, hugs on you in that dental chair today. You are going to look younger with those white teeth! I loved your comment on seeing the folks at the resort and hoping they look older. LOL It's been interesting moving back to UT after 9 yrs. I have seen a few folks I used to know from when I lived here before and yes they all look older. LOL Of course, in my minds eyes I still look the same only thinner. LOL But my mom reminds me how much older I look now that I've lost weight my 'face is drawn'. WTH??? But as you say it's deflated instead of filled with fat and I'll take that anyday. Enjoy your time at the resort! DH is in Phoenix today just for the day, I thought of tagging along but he's not even leaving the airport, so I will stay home and supervise the concrete guys. They are coming today I think to put in the forms for our new backyard patio and pouring the concrete tomorrow. DH didn't reconfirm when he left but I am pretty sure it's today. Janet, the car is a 'total loss' and they called yesterday and left a message regarding the settlement details but when DH called back they had left for the day. Hoping they connect today but doubtful with DH being out of town. DH wants to keep the car if the settlement is decent and I want to take the settlement and get a new one. He says what difference does it make if it is going to be the car he drives back and forth to work, which is true I guess. We can still licnese it as long as it passes safety and emissions which it should, just need to replace the mirrors on it that were shattered. Still awaiting word from the adjuster in CO regarding the damage to the roof/house there. Anny, I hear you on feeling so poked and prodded before surgery. I felt that way too. I went to my seminar to have surgery in April and then got all my preops done and had surgery in June 08 so very quick as well, i was self pay so didn't have to wait for insurance approvals. But it's so worth it in the end. I think docs are extra careful due to the fact the surgery is more or less considered elective. heck when I had my gall bladder out it was like in and out and no preops just a blood test, nothing like the band.

Good evening, goodness you guys were busy this afternoon and evening! Apples, beautiful clothes, wish I had a store like that near me. Happy 2 yrs! I feel a special bond with you since we started this journey with our surgeries at the same time. I can't believe the difference in your before and now picture. Having met you at goal weight, you don't look like you were ever overweight. Charlene, good luck at the dr tomorrow. Don't worry about the scale, you know how good you are doing, sometimes the body just doesn't show it. PJ, hugs to what a difficult situation after 41 yrs of marriage. You're darn right you deserve half that! Keep posting and back away from the fridge! Janet, great job on boot camp again. You are my exercise hero! Julie, I too hope I didn't offend you with my comments. I get what you are saying about it hurting either way, my knee was like that. I just worry about you and want you to get better. LauraK, hoping to see you on your way through SLC!

Laura, oh no not the 23rd! I might be home on the 23rd still. I am meeting the kids halfway between here and Denver on the 24th for a camping weekend. We are leaving either the night of the 23rd or morning of 24th. Keep me posted and hopefully we can work it out. Apples, Good to hear from you. Enjoy that resort hotel! And the 'younger you'! LOL I need to find a hair person here in hte next week or two myself.

Good evening! Just got home from seeing my dog movie. I got DH to go see Marmaduke with me. It was cute. I enjoyed, not so sure DH did, though he didn't say he didn't enjoy it either. Think he'd be embarassed to admit it if he did like it. LOL Weather warmed up today, perfect day in the mid 70's. Maybe summer will be returning. Still had to wear my sweater though and then DH has the a/c on in the car. GRRRRR We were commenting today on how neither of us is ever happy, it's never warm enough for me and it's never cool enough for him. Arlene, wow wish I grew up by you and had all those people come do a shower for me! Actually when we got married the neighborhood DH grew up in did throw me a really nice wedding shower. I was touched considering I didn't know any of them, but they did it mostly for DH and his mom. Phyl, nice looking family! Gordita, you just had surgery bearly 3 weeks ago. 5 lbs is great, you are still healing from surgery. You won't have your full restriction for a while, in fact my dr said not to even worry about losing the first 6 weeks after surgery, it was to heal, losing during that time was a bonus. Once the swelling goes down you hardly have restriction, just start following the 'bandster rules' your surgeon gave you and it will come. Anny & Dypeters, welcome! always room for more. Anxious to learn more about you. Questions, ask away and someone here will have an answer or what worked for them. Many successes here. Linda, glad you had no flooding either. I got to within 9 lbs exactly of the magic goal weight as well and struggled and struggled to lose those last 9 so I could say I made it. My surgeon took one look at me and said I don't know what your are struggling for, as far as I am concerned you are at goal. The numbers are just a guideline. Embrace where you are and accept it, especially since it's been a good place for you to maintain. Good luck to DH on his surgery tomorrow. LauraK, coming through Utah???

Good morning. I think summer is supposed to start returning here today, at least to the 70's. What a chilly weekend we had, we were like 30 degrees below normal. I had to run the furnace, well I didn't have to but I was cold and wanted to be sure it worked anyway. LOL Here I am still a year after losing my weight and I am still always cold. I guess I thought my body's thermostat would adjust but so far it's not. DH is the type that is always hot, he loves temps in the 50's, in the 70's he's starting to turn on the A/c in the car so we are always having temperature 'wars'. LOL PFTD (plan for the day) is to go to DMV and get my license plates on the new car. I got my safety and emmissions this weekend and now get to pick up my plates. We are awaiting licensing the other car after we know what we are doing with it. The insurance company called on Friday and they are totalling it. They are to call today I believe with a settlement. We can either take that or we can take the difference between the settlement and salvaged value and keep the car. DH is leaning towards keeping it as it's a good reliable car (Camry) for going back and forth to work in, I'm leaning towards the settlement if it's decent and getting something new so we shall see what the offer is first. Janet, sounds like a fun weekend with the family. I feel for you on the g/d and weight issues. All I know is to not say a lot to the g/d as my mom badgered me about my weight all the time and it made me feel worthless. And I wasn't even that overweight, I felt like a big blob though. Heck at 5'9 and 125 lbs at age 18 she was telling me I needed to lose 5 lbs!!! Love her and accept her as she is (and I know you do) and guide her. She has an excellent role model in her grandma! Eva, not sure I remember what's up with the sisters. Does one live near you and one moving away? I have 2 sisters as well, we don't get along so great. The 2 of them do, i am the odd one out, but I live a totally different lifestyle. They are single, no kids, and heavy, heavy drinkers. I've been the 'frumpy housewife' (their words) most my life with 'rugrats' and now even with the 'rugrats' grown up we have drifted too far apart. One of them even disowned me for 7 years (never told me why other than I wasn't there for her in a divorce - heck I went to stay with her 7 times and drove her to work and therapy as she lost her license to a DUI but she doesn't 'remember' that) and then one day acted like nothing ever happened and talked to me again but it's still strange. Not sure why I went down that road other than to say I envy folks with a good sisterly relationship. Charlene, why such big baby showers? Is it like a whole church thing? What a blessing to the mom to be.

Good afternoon. Another chilly day here, wondering what happened to my summer? It was so hot a few days ago and the past 2 days in the 50's. Too cold for this time of year, they are saying 70s tomorrow though. It's also wet and with no backyard that means mud. My poor dogs don't get to go out and run in the back as then they drag in the mud they aren't happy. DH is out trying to dig trenches for sprinkler pipes so they can bury them under the patio. We are having concrete poured this week if it doesn't rain and hopefully soon after some sod. Phyl, you need that puppy! See any size dog can be a lap dog. LOL My Lucy crawls up on my lap like that too.

Happy Saturday. Just got done catching up here. On Wed night I decided to go to Denver for the day on Thurs. so I got up at 330am and took the 6am flight. Got to Denver at 8 and then took the hotel van to my daughters work (at a hotel) and picked up her car and got Grandma and spent the day with her. Went to my son's Walmart to see him and he had lunch with us and then decided to spend the night at DD's and came home yesterday. It was nice to go back but hard as well. I cried when I got to Denver when I realized I wasn't going home but was coming to visit. But it helped to see Grandma was doing okay too. Arlene, I just bought some of that Carbmaster yogurt but haven't had any yet, glad to read you liked it. Julie, glad the CAt scan was clear and this dr is going to help you get into Mayo. Are you sure all your doing for others isn't causing you more pain? Your menus sound yummy! what is pepper steak?? Janet, sounds like a fun weekend with the family! Jodi, glad to hear you will come to Vegas. We'll keep you strong and away from him! Eva, I went to those falls a few years ago, climbed about half way up and couldn't make it to the top. Did you?? Maybe now I could that I've lost the weight! It was beautiful there. Like the hair too! Joyce, can your landscapers come here and give me a backyard?? We have mud right now. Though am getting a patio poured on Wed. Laura, congrats to Nels, enjoy these years it will be his HS graduation in what will seem like the blink of an eye. Melissa, my dd has the same type of woman boss in fact she's had several in her line of work and it's always trouble. I'd much rather have a man boss myself. I don't know if that's politically correct of me to say in this day and age though.

Arlene, I am impressed, that was a big step for you to take to put your stats out there. As Dr Phil says, you can't change what you don't acknowledge. I know that was a big step for you and hopefully it was freeing for you as well. We started out 2 lbs apart, I was 305. Joyce, As for reaching a stall at 215 to 200 no I didn't. I did however at about 190. As for fills, I was one that took a lot of fills, I was needing them about every 15 lbs or so. I got small fills along the way but you can see in my signature how many I had. Once I did get too full and knew within a day or so as I started having reflux. I ignored it for a bit thinking it would go away and before I realized how dangerous it was. Once I found that out I promptly had some taken out. I know now that I am where I am supposed to be. I think you'll know when you get there. Keep tabs on how much you can eat at a time and how long between meals. If you portions start getting larger or you are hungrier more between meals it's probably time for a small fill. Well DH needs me again, he's hanging stuff on the walls and if I don't watch him everything is hung very high. He's 6'6 and puts things at his eye level not the normal persons. LOL Everyone at work gave him a bad time today as he decorated his office and all his stuff was hung real high.

Gosh dern it all, I hate it when the email notifications aren't working for me as I get so far behind on the thread, 3 pages to read since yesterday. I know I can come and go to my control panel and subscriptions but just never do, I got used to the emails. Apples, that pic is amazing! You look so much younger and I love that blouse! Have fun at the lake, you probably left already. Cheri, congrats on the grant Linda, loved the pics. You too have moved around a lot. Are you pretty settled in Iowa or will there be another move in your future?? Arlene, congrats on the loss! Janet, awesome keeping up with those younguns in boot camp. All that hard work has paid off. I spent the day checking out the local shops. I decided to change our bedroom from reds and golds to 'Robin's egg blue and brown'. I got some stuff at Target, some Kohls and some Penneys so hope it all goes together. DH just walked in gotta go. Will catch up more later.

Good morning! Looks like a beautiful day out there. Not much planned for the day other than wait for Directv this afternoon. We haven't had TV since moving, I haven't missed it much but DH sure does. They were to install us last week but then wanted so much money to upgrade our receivers, I refused to pay and said I'd go to Comcast so called to cancel and wouldn't you know suddenly it was free? Frustrating, it would be free if I was a new customer but an existing customer had to pay $200 or I needed all these holes drilled in the house for cables and what not. Of course, DSIL was all for me switching to comcast since he is an engineer for them. LOL I may go check out a grocery store this mornign too and get some more healthy choices in the fridge and pantry. Haven't gone since moving really lots of eating out or pizza type stuff. Sometimes I can do the cruse of a pizza but if we have that I eat the toppings usually. Darn it all after my day of tracking yesterday I wanted to get up and have my 10 lbs disappear and they didn't. LOL What's up with that? LOL Janet, sorry you had to go back to work yesterday. Guess I thought Indio was part of the Palm Desert, I need to study my geography of that part of CA. Julie, glad you had a good nights rest without pain, now don't over do it and aggravate it. Is it epidural shots you got? My mom is getting one in her back today for some severe pain she's been dealing with. LauraK, you need a young acting older man. LOL One that is mature and settled but still wants to have fun and be active. Hope you find him. Laura, good luck with the school principal. Such difficult choices when it comes to our children's education. I volunteered in the classroom throughout my kids elementary and junior high years, I felt it helped me keep a pulse on what was going on in the classroom and it helped me get the best fit teachers for my kids. And the teachers wanted my child in their class as they knew how much I volunteered so it was a win/win. Junior high the kids didn't like me being in their class so much but elementary age they loved the days I came as well.

Good evening. Well had to report in, my first day back tracking my food is going pretty well. My choices not so great but my calories are coming in at 938 and 42 gm protien. I need to lower the carbs and up the protein type choices. But it's a start. I got this great app for my I-Touch called Lose It, I can customize to track whatever I want so I am tracking calories, carbs and protein. It's got a pretty thorough database of foods, kindda like Daily Plate but more portable. And best of all it was free. So it's a fun new toy to play with and makes tracking not so boring. Janet, are you without power as well, or just where your office is? You sound too chipper to be without and you are posting so am thinking either you have a generator or you have power. Phyl, gosh darn it all and your weather. I think Seattle should pay me to visit. I have been to Seattle many times and not once have I seen it rain, it's always beautiful and sunny when I visit. Is your July LBT gathering going to be there? Janet, I can make Oct 1st work, I'd prefer later in the month but can make whatever work. Any idea of places? DH stayed at the new Aria or something like that and said it was amazing but think it's normally quite pricey, they got a deal for work. Cheri, I'm not help on photos, they give me such problems whenever I go to work with them. Joyce, I actually went from UT to CA, then to Delaware, then to CO before ending up back in UT. I get around. LOL this is my progression: WI, MN, CO, UT, GA, NV, UT, CA, DE, CO, UT, I see too many UT in that line. LOL But I've enjoyed living and learning about the many different local cultures and customs. Apples, how long do we have you back for before you leave again for the lake? What a lovely place to recover after your dental work. Would love to see pics of the lake place and the new deck.

YEA!!! Apples is home!! You must be one tough cookie when it comes to that dental work. I don't know how you did it, I have a high pain tolerance for most things but not the dentist. Glad that is behind you and looking forward to that new smile. Heck that Mercedes would've just depreciated anyway. That smile will go on forever!

Good morning! Looks like another hot one out there today but they are saying 67 on Friday. I have my water this morning and am working on getting myself back on track. I got brave and got on the scale and I am up 10 lbs. UGHH!! But it's only 10 and not 20, then 30, you know the drill. This morning I am meeting a friend for coffee, well I'll have to find something else to drink as I don't like coffee. I knew her sortta when we lived here before, however when we moved from here to California, she did too about the same time, that's where we got to know one another and wouldn't you know she lives about a mile or two from me now back in UT. We ran into each other at Home Depot on Saturday. Then the real exciting part to my day. the Utah DMV. UGH!!! Our new car still has temporary tags on it from CO, we still hadn't gotten the stuff to register it and get plates for it, and they expire this week, so gotta find out w hat I need to license it in UT. Should be a thrilling morning. Apples, extractions and no novacaine??? you are one tough cookie! HOpe you are back soon to catch up. Well not that I don't want you at your favorite place, the lake, but just miss ya when you are gone. Melissa, yes Pictures! Arlene, I used to play Bunko once a month, it was a fun and as you said mindless game. Julie, now take it easy and don't do too much. I'm not good at remodeling either. We are getting new furniture for this house and have no idea what to get, we are t hinking leather. And i have one huge picture window with 2 smaller ones along each side. I have blinds on them now but have no idea what to do for window treatments, do I do each window? that seems a bit much, but all together it's huge. And if I get leather furniture, I need something with a little color but what color?

All my life I grew up having basements. When we moved to CA and also Las Vegas and they didn't have them, I thought what the heck am I supposed to do with all my junk??? LOL Plus it's so cool in the summer. Now my square footage is actually more in the basement than the upstairs I think and to have it all finished is a bonus.

Wow, Julie, how lucky for your friend to have been in that car accident. How many people are grateful for that, but it may have saved her life. Well I am giving Lucy another shot in the house. She's staying by my side as DH really got after her before for peeing in the house. I hope she learnt her lesson. I know this move has been hard on them, but this has got to stop and fast. the friend I ran into at Home Depot yesterday called and wants to do coffee tomorrow morning. It will be so nice to get out and socialize with someone. I hate coffee but am sure Starbucks bottled water or something. October is when DH does a lot of hunting and what not so it will be a perfect time for me to go to Las Vegas. Arlene, sounds like a fruitful day watching QVC today. LOL I can't watch, been without TV since the move, hopefully we'll be hooked up on Tues. Way to go on the exercise! Janet, this house came with a lot of inclusions but some others that weren't. Guess it was a tradeoff. We got a finished basement which is usually never included but have to pour the patio and put in the back yard.

Eva, we are getting a light tan vinyl fence. All the houses in the neighborhood have the same fence. We negotiated in the purchase contract that the builder had to put in a fence. It was supposed to be done when we moved in but supposedly it was too wet. I will be glad when it's done. We still need to put in a back yard as well, the builder is giving us sod but we have to put in the sprinkler system and lay the sod ourselves. Lots of work. But we want to put in a big patio so that will cut down on the amount of sod as well.

Good morning from hot and sunny Utah. May have to see if my a/c works today. Went and checked out a church this morning. It was okay and may be worth a 2nd look. Today the plan is to put up some blinds especially in the bedroom, I am tired of doing the run and dash or getting dressed in the dark. Also going to take advantage of DH's 6'6 height and have him put up some high stuff for me today before he goes back to work tomorrow. Well yesterday was my 2 yr bandiversary date, and it came and went without a 2nd thought. I forgot about it until I got a Happy Band-versary email from Obesity Help this morning. What a difference 2 yrs has made. I reached goal at this time last year so it's a double anniversary. I am a tad over goal now and need to work on that starting this week. The move, etc. has been rough on me and it served as a reminder that I can still easilyl succumb to emotional eating and stress eating. Jodi, feel for you on the dog issues. We had 2 rottweillers we had to put to sleep a year apart about 2 yrs ago one had brain cancer and the other her hindquarters went out at age 13 and she couldn't walk. We have 2 new dogs and one of them is giving us fits. She's always been an exciteable 'piddler' but we've learnt to deal with that with her in the house, and she's been great. However, since the move she is peeing everywhere, we can't have that in a new home on new carpet. Poor thing is living in the garage most of the time as we have no fence until the end of this week. I just don't know what to do. Enjoy your weekend at home and good luck on getting off the cpap machine! Phyl, sorry to hear of your band issues. Praying that all returns to normal and you can get your fills back and no further action is required. Janet, yep I think I was your 2nd or 3rd poster. YOu've helped me a lot in this journey. Not sure I'd have made it this far with out you for a role model. You showed me it was possible. Jewel, congrats on the tatoo. I know many people love them and they have gotten them as rewards for their journeys and hard work. Not sure I could do it, but then agian my thing is Coach purses and Ann Taylor. LOL It's beautiful though, did you draw it yourself? COUNT ME IN FOR VEGAS IN OCTOBER! HECK IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH IF i HAVE FLIGHT TROUBLES I CAN DRIVE THERE!

    I'm here to help...

Welcome Kurby. Is the Slimband the same as a Lapband? Do they call it something different in Canada? For me it was the best decision I ever made, just wish I could've done it when I was as young as you. I've wasted many years being miserable about my weight. Janet, the vacation sounds wonderful. I've never done an all inclusive before, I am partial to cruises, but then again how can I be partial if I have no experience with the other so might just have to do one sometime. I hear they are wonderful. I wish I was part of your family! Joyce, what is a yoga retreat? Eva, sorry you have to do your sister's errands. Treat yourself to something special while you are out. Julie, welcome back, I missed ya, you left as I came back. Hope your pain is getting better. My mom has been having horrible pain issues they think due to a bulged disk or something and is starting epidural shots on Tues.
