Linda, tell Laura, I am anxious about meeting her on Wed. if it works out. I think my training session is really just to go over the machines, I don't think it's going to be very specific but who knows. They do have these new machines I've never seen before called Hoist machines, they are basic weight machines but your whole body moves (rocking I think they call it) when you do the movements. I don't know but I liked them and if you do each machine in order down the line you get a total body workout. I thought it was a good place to start anyway. My upper body is way weaker than my lower. I could hardly do any weight on my shoulders. Okay today is one of those days I have time to post and read and no one is here. LOL
-
Arlene, not sure I am going to keep up with a trainer but will take my free session for sure! Maybe down the road as my results start to plateau would be a good time for one. I love, love, love Dr Denese stuff. That's really when I miss my employee discount! Apples, are you coming back today??
-
This is my first time posting from my I-touch so please forgive any typos. But had to post right away and say I just left the gym!!! I did it, it's been way too long since I've done any formal working out. I tried a few machines and have an orientation with a trainer on Wed. I can go to any club so may check out another tomorrow that is about as far and see which Iike best

Phyl, I am not sure what kind of dog it was, but I think they found a home, want me to check?? It was a little furball type dog named Charlie. Laura, congrats on the 3 lbs!!!

I did some googling about Las Vegas outlets, looks like there's a few outlet malls/centers to choose from, the first one is the one I remember: Las Vegas Outlet Center - Designer Outlet Stores & Map Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas Las Vegas Premium Outlets All 3 had an Ann Taylor! LOL

Good morning. I think I am finally going to get my patio concrete poured today, I will believe it when the cement truck shows up! They put most the forms in on Sat. but still have a small sidewalk to finish doing that for. Then hopefully in a week or two we can get some sod and be rid of our dirt/mud situation in the back. My dogs are filthy but no sense giving them baths. Phyl, that would concern me about that puppy too. Have you considered getting a brand new puppy so you could train it and bring it up in your situations and not have to break some bad habits?? I had some friends needing to find a home for a small dog that would be perfect for you in Denver. Janet, is that mall in Vegas you are talking about? DH & I went into one on the strip, it was quite large, mostly just went to Ann Taylor Loft. When I lived there I went to an outlet at the very end of the strip a lot but I don't remember what was there besides Nike. I used to go for my son's shoes as his feet were growing so fast and so large. He went from a size 12 to a size 16 or 17 in one school year. Thankfully they stopped growing then, he was only in 7th or 8th grade. Arlene, yep carbs will do that to me too. That's why I was wondering why steak was a no no and a bagel was ok. Speaking of steak I had one of my Costco Filet mignons last night. Oh was it good! No I didn't even watch QVC yesterday. Am just waiting for my ring to arrive. Say hi to DH for me in Houston today, I think he's at Intercontinental today. He has both airports but was only going to one.
-
Phyl, do you think perhaps if that dog got home to your home and used to you it would be better? I can't imagine being that poor puppy in Petco around all the strange surroundings and people and not being skittish. But the fact it bit someone would be concerning. Poor baby, I hope it finds a home or warms up to people so they can fall in love with him/her. You'll find the right dog I am sure. Arlene, DH is going to be in Houston tomorrow. I thought of tagging along but he's only going to be there about 3 hours so I am not coming. Hopefully next time he has to go there (he has both airports there) I can tag along.

HAVE A safe trip! Hope to meet you on WEd in SLC! Do you have a hotel here yet??

Good evening, reporting in, I went for my walk. First one around my new neighborhood. We went snooping too into houses that are under construction but were unlocked. First time wearing those new shaper shoes. I got the Target cheap-o version.

Good morning! Kindda missing Colorado today since it's Fathers' Day. The kids are going to my inlaws for a BBQ, DD did call DH this morning already. DS will probably forget. LOL But we will see them this week as we are meeting camping on Thurs. WOOHOO!! Beef - I ate it a lot while losing, lots of grilled burgers (extra lean) and steak. I get the filets like Phyl at Costco and freeze them in individual portions. DH has lots of deer and elk meat from all his hunting last fall so he grills himself that and then for me one of my filets. It will be fun to do now too as he got a nice new grill for Fathers day at Costco yesterday. Vegas, I will probably look for a flight late morning to noon time or so. As soon as we are set, I am going to look at booking a cheap airfare and coming confirmed vs standby. Hail - as you all know my car was totalled. Well we got the estimates from the insurance on the house now too. Over $10K in damages to roof, gutters, screens, etc. Now we have to co ordinate all those repairs from here with new owners in the house as the insurance will only work with us. Fun fun!

Goodness Debbie, I think in your case, when it rains it storms! Sorry to hear of all your 'storms'. One of my knees is much better than the other. And interestingly it was the worse of the 2 before surgery. It's like normal now. The ohter one does still hurt sometimes but nothing like before surgery. Hang in there, it should get better. Have you done all the physical therapy on the knee?? I am going to give the new knees a real test starting this week. I just joined a gym. My exercise has been lacking since my knee surgeries so need to make that a habit again.
-
Not bad at all. But why is steak a no no??? I'd think the bagel would be a no no and the steak would be a yes yes. LOL Good job!
-
Arlene, there's probably lots of young 'uns at this gym too, but, like Janet says, who cares?? I am doing this for me, not to get googled at by hard bodies. Plus, you know what? They are all so busy looking at themselves in the mirrors they really hardly notice anyone else. Go where you are comfortable but don't let some young kids scare you off! You are as good or better than them anyway. Eva, same thing happens to me, when I got time to post a lot and spend here no one else is here. LOL Janet, I bet your arms are just fine. For me it's my legs, I guess we all have that body part that bugs us still. After I get back into shape somewhat I will have to see if they have boot camp classes at this 24 hour as well. I plan to try and go at the same time each day and hopefully get to meet some regulars but if not oh well. DH said after he gets the yard and stuff in after summer he 'might' join me. I highly doubt it though. He'd rather do physical labor around the house or yard as his exercise. Or take a dog for a job.

Okay, I am marking down Oct 1st, Lori will be in Vegas!! If the resort doesn't work out, I know the Monte Carlo had a great pool area if you are interested in pools, it had a lazy river, a pool and a wave pool. From the looks of the resort place that pool looks nice too. Well I did it.....I committed.....I bought the $299 for 2 yrs 24 Hour Fitness gym membership today at Costco. I gotta go now. GRRRRR My exercise has been hit and miss ever since me knee surgeries, it's time I redevelop that habit. I had it going so good before the knees. Also, yesterday I got a phone call from an old friend from when Ilived here before. she heard I was back and that I had WLS. She did too! she had bypass 6 yrs ago. She wanted me to join her gym and I seriously considered it (Golds) but it was so much more $$$ and further away, she works full time and would be going evenings which I probably won't want to do as that is when DH is home and I have all day to go on my own. so I didn't. She also invited me to join their Bunko group, someone just left it, so I might have a connection to meet others as well. things are coming together for me here in Utah. Joyce, CONGRATS on Onederland!! WOO HOO!!

I am in, I think I can do any of those dates, I say think as I am not 100% certain about labor Day.
-
Laura, I PM'd you my phone numbers. I don't leave until Thurs. mornign so if you get in Wed afternoon or something I'd love to meet you. Janet, don't worry about me being too hot. that never happens anymore, plus I lived in Vegas and survived 120 degree days just fine in Aug. if that's where you are leaning.

Congrats! I am doing quite well, I lost 126 lbs my first year and maintained that well until a few months ago when I gained back about 15. Lots going on in my life, 2 knees replaced, daughter got married and I moved to another state. however, I am settled now and working on getting that 15 back off.
-
Linda, thanks for doing the research on the condo, glad I was wrong on thinking it would be very expensive. However, I know Janet is set into those dates as it's her furlough Friday. I just went to Costco, OMG what a zoo. Costcos are definitely more crowded here than in Denver. Must be all the large families stocking up, every time I've gone it's like that. I am used to going mid day, midweek and having the place to myself almost. I looked for the 24 Hour fitness memberships and they have them. Am going to discuss with DH this weekend about possibly doing that even with the drive. Might be good to make me get out. Though if I start up my P90X DVDS again at home I did really well with those in the past as well. But I'm thinking with being new in town and alone a lot getting out might be good.
-
Eva, how expensive are the suites? I was looking at my own room too and really don't need a whole suite, but then again if it's not that expensive, I will go with the majority. I'll try and look up that resort later.

Imperial Palace, never saw the rooms but whenever I have been in the lobby or casino it smelled. I vote against that one. LOL Well I went and checked out a gym today. 24 hour fitness. It was nice and not real crowded, BUT it's kindda far. it took me 20 min making all the lights coming home, I know 20 min isn't that far but I was hoping to find something closer. The only thing closer is an Anytime Fitness and it doesn't have near the equipment and is just as expensive if not more. I saw at Costco awhile back 24 Hour fitness memberships for sale for $299 for 2 yrs that would be a great deal. So not sure.

Well I totally made over my life. I followed the 'rules' to the T, kept up with my fills and after care, I started a workout program. I didn't look at the lap band as the solution I looked at it as a tool. I went to support groups, I looked to this website as support, I gave up most 'white foods', ate high protein (one of the rules) etc. I did lose about that much the first 6 mos and lost 126 lbs in one year. For the first 6 weeks my dr didn't want me to focus on weight loss however, that was for healing. Good luck to you. If you want to post more details like what kind of exercise you are doing, what your daily menu looks like, etc. you will get lots of help and suggestions here. Best of luck to you!

Do you know where you are staying in Utah yet? or what time you'll be here? Maybe we can meet for dinner on WEd night?? I am not leaving for my camping trip to early Thur. morning.
