Goodness, Linda, if we had 37% humidity we wouldn't be calling that not humid, I'd be complaining it was humid. LOL I am used to single digit humidity for the most part. Hair Dye, you gals convinced, I will keep coloring. LOL Just not ready to see my mom looking back at me through the mirror. LOL Speaking of whom, she actually called me to congratulate me on being grandma she thought it was great news. Didn't expect that. Janet, I haven't even thought of whether I'd want a boy or girl. I know Dh would say boy though. I've wanted grandkids for so long it doesn't matter. DH had jokingly told DD when she was here and we were strolling Ikea that we'd furnish a nursury for the first grandbaby, she's not calling him on it. LOL It would be fun though. She's coming next weekend actually so we'll have to check it out. Your question on how long the pain on me knee was, do you mean after surgery? it was quite painful for a good 3 to 4 weeks and then still bothersome for another couple weeks. But oh so worth it. Arlene, chicken salad, how many carbs in it??? I don't do salads as I don't care for mayo and most have that in it.

HELLO!!! Wondering if there was in an echo in there since it seems so empty. LOL So far my new fill seems to be great! Wonderful to have restriction back, but not too much so far! Just got drapery rods so hopefully DH will hang my family room curtains tonight! And I bought a fire pit for the new back patio. DH is away and I will shop! LOL And I couldn't help myself I had to stroll the baby dept at Target! LOL

Julie, we were posting at teh same time. The yard is almost done, the sod is being delivered tomorrow morning so tomorrow night I should have grass and no more dirt!! WOOHOO!! Pedicures are wonderful. I used to think what a waste when I heard people getting them, it's my favorite indulgence and I now get them year round not just winter. Before my knee surgery I had such a hard time even reaching my toes and now that I can I'm not willing to give them up. I'd give up coloring my hair before my toes! LOL Funny thing, I have a decision to make. I went gray in my 20's and started coloring my hair by 30. I used to say I would color it til I turned 40 as in my mind at the time that was old. Well I turned 40 and that suddenly wasn't so old anymore and said 50. Well 50 came along and then I said I would stop when I became Grandma. Well I am going to be grandma. Do I keep coloring or do I go gray???

Good morning, well my gag order has been lifted by my daughter and I can officially post on here that guess who's going to be Grandma? YEP!! That would be me!! DD found out as they had to give her a blood test before she could have some radiation type test for her gall bladder and they had to cancel the test. She's barely like 4 weeks along they think. She is over the moon excited. She's had many female problems over the years with cysts, an ovary that was attached to her intestine and periods just a couple times a year. They told her she may have trouble having kids so they weren't careful about birth control thinking if it happened it happened and it did! I wasn't supposed to say anything as she didn't want something to inadvertantly get posted to my facebook or something. Arlene, this program of this doctor isn't anything like that with shakes or anything. I don't think he does that, nor did my doc in Denver. IT was just for their support groups and classes and dietician appointments. What happened to Big Medicine are they not doing that anymore?? Laura, ok what color toes did you get? I got a bright pink summery color.

So glad DD got her belongings, Laura, now she can start settling in and making it home. It's so hard living in transition. I talked to Apples tonight via text. She is having a great time, her son that doesn't live in town came in for 2 weeks and surprised her. She will be back next Tues and says she misses everyone and says hi.

Good afternoon. A busy busy day for me. It started with a pedicure, stupid me for thinking all the places here would be as cheap as the one I went to last week, it wasn't open yet at 930 so I went across the street it was $10 more for a lot less of a pedicure. But my toes look good! Stopped for some nuggets before my fill (several hours before) and then proceeded across town to near where my dr appt was, low and behold I found the other Loft store in town! LOL Much smaller and not as nice as the downtown one also was a Nordstrom Rack there, did not purchase much. Then to the new docs office. He was okay. He's not my Dr Snyder in Denver that's for sure. I had to wait forever. I did get a 1/2 cc fill. Ever since I had that taken out before moving I am hungry all the time so am giving it a shot for the weekend. I have an appt on Monday to go back and will get an unfill if it's too much. On Monday I have an appt to have that metabolic rate test done, they couldn't do it today. Then they asked if I wanted to join their 'program'. It's $350 and includes unlimited dietician, exercise physiologist, classes and support groups. I never heard of such a fee. I guess I can't go to their support groups w/o paying but it seems pointless to pay something like that over 2 yrs out. It's disounted from $500 since I am a transfer patient and already had surgery. I'm not saying I know it all but I think I know enough to not pay a fee for more classes. I can always go back to Denver for them if need be. My dr in Denver lets folks from any doc go to his support group meetings. Cheri, your post reminds me of a comment my dad made to me all the time. How could anyone be so smart and have no common sense? (I was a straight A student and I guess he thought that meant I never made mistakes or something) Randa, ask away.

Thanks ARlene, I might ask about it. Maybe I'll eat an early lunch/late breakfast at about 1030 since my appt isn't til 230 and see what they say. HMMM You know McD's starts serving MCNuggets at 1030 LOL If I get a fill I won't be eating much later in the day either.

Good afternoon, Lovelies! The heat is back on here after our cool 4th. Arlene, is there any prep work you have to do before that breath metabolism rate test? I notice that the surgeon I am seeing here tomorrow offers that test, I might just ask for it. do you have to fast or anything? Is it expensive? I'd love to know. I just had lunch with a friend and the waitress was so concerned with my portion size, I ordered from the kids meal. she kept wanting to bring me more food and then was so worried when I left even part of that on my plate. She wasn't mean about it, just really kind of funny. My way of eating has become normal to me that it seemed weird for someone to wonder. Not much else new around here. I am very tired today, I couldn't sleep last night and was playing computer games to about 2am then had to be up, dressed and out of the bathroom by 8 this morning as a drywaller was coming to fix a drywall issue in there. I am almost always up by then but today I could've slept. Maybe that means I will sleep good tonight. Phyl, what games are you planing these days now that Challenge Suduko is no more? I've gotten hooked on Majongg Deluxe or something like that.

How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Congrats JK!! I am doing pretty well. I lost 126 lbs my first year, I maintained that pretty much my entire 2nd year however, in the recent couple months have gained about 15 that I am trying to lose again. I had 2 knee replacements and a move out of state and well things just got away from me. But I am stopping it at 15 lbs before it gets to 50!

PJ great to see you post! Enjoyed chatting with you on FAcebook. Laura, the Paris trip sounds wonderful. You'll have to give me details. I have DH just about talked into a 'weekend' in Paris. We are using one of our free positive space tickets to go over on a Friday, spend Sat and probably come home on Sunday. On my list to do is to go up the Eifel Tower and see the Louvre if possible. I have no idea how far the airport is from the city and if the tower and Louvre are close together, etc. He has no desire to see Paris so this is big for him to concede to my idea of a weekend there. LOL Since we spent so much money on other vacations this year, I can't talk him into longer, plus he doesn't have much vacation time, but maybe he'll love it and we can go back! We were talking of going Aug. 7th but may back it up to Sept. Apples is gone for several more days yet. Miss her! Arlene, way to go on the walking! Cheri, sure Vegas is a foreign country you have Paris, Venice, Egypt (Luxor) and New York you have it all in one place! LOL

Well I am home from shopping and the surgery seminar. Both were successful! LOL I got a bag full of bargains, all the marked down stuff at the Loft was an additional 50% off. I got a pair of jeans, 4 tshirts and 2 sweaters for $100. Next the seminar. Seeing all those people coming in for the semiar brought back bitter memories for me and how I felt going to mine. I felt hopeless, wondering if this too was going to lead to failure, yet I was so desperate and sick and tired of being so fat and out of shape. I left feeling hopeful. I could see so many of those feelings in those folks eyes. The dietician gave the seminar so I didn't get to meet the surgeons they were hung up in surgery. But the dietician looked so familiar. Then afterwards I talked to her about already being a lap band patient and in need of follow up care, when I mentioned moving from Denver, she asked if I was Mandy's mom. This gal was one of my DD's good friends from HS. Then someone heard me say I had the band and I got more questions than she did, they wanted to hear all about it. I have an appt on Thurs. afternoon with the surgeon and I think I am going to ask about a fill. This last bit they took out I think was too much. I am really struggling lately. And taht was evident when I tried on clothes at Ann Taylor Loft. Things were tight and some not even fitting. That has to stop now. Linda, you say you have an 8 yr plan to be out of there. Where will you go?? I have an 8 yr plan as well to hopefully be back in Denver. Janet, glad you had a great time! Peaches, thanks for the update! Hope it works out you can join us in Vegas. You sound like a very fun person!

That's where I am heading! I've been by it and never to it. I used to know my way around downtown really well but it's totally changed so am a little nervous about the driving and more so the parking. All my favorite places to park are gone and that Gateway complex didn't exist last time I lived here.

Back to my normal color since the 4th is over. Today I am going to venture downtown. I saw in the paper this weekend advertisement for a bariatric surgery seminar for a couple surgeons downtown. One of them happens to be the dr my surgeon recommended so I thought by attending the seminar I could get a feel if I liked this doc. I don't really want to completely switch to a new dr. my plan was to still go back to Denver and see mine but thought I should have someone here in case of complications or something came up. While I am down there I know there is a Loft store, that's all I am saying. LOL Hope Janet and Phyl are back home safe and sound, I saw some pics on Facebook of their gathering and looks like a great time, though Janet looked like she was freezing. Have a great day. Missing so many of you!

Melissa, your mom isn't your boss is she? That presents a whole nother dynamic. Linda has some very valuable advice. Sometimes we think we have no options, my DD is in a similar boat at her job. However after some encouragement from us she went to HR and used the word harrassment and that got their attention and things are improving for her.

Talked DH into taking a break and got to go see Toy Story, LOVED IT!! Jodi, any chance you saw that Macy's fireworks show from the Hudson river tonight (or at least it's on TV tonight). WOW amazing fireworks. Seems funny and I am watching fireworks on TV and the sun is shining here. Wish I was on that cruise ship it's being telvised from. PB, what kind of advice are you looking for? Give us a little information or what you are struggling with. There's many very successful bandsters here who would be happy to help. Follow your dr's rules is the best I can say for now. Melissa, sorry you are stuggling. Confession is the first start. You know what to do, you got this far. You know food isn't going to solve the work situation. Can you find something else to release the stress? Perhaps a new job? Any chance you are coming to Vegas??? Don't disappear when you are struggling. We are here to help.

Good afternoon. Sadly, Arlene, I don't have any stars and stripes to fly today. I have the flag but left the mount for the pole mounted to the house in Denver, didn't realize it til today. Next holiday it will be fixed. Yep, Joyce, some holidays on Sundays get moved in these parts. I know from living here in the past if Halloween falls on a Sunday they will trick or treat on Sat. night. Eva, do you have one of those new high efficiency washers? I never did til this move as I had to leave my last washer and dryer with the house in Denver. I can't believe how much less water it uses and my dryer how quick it is. In fact it is done drying before the washer is done washing, used to be the other way around by a long shot. All the rock is now moved to the back yard. Now he has to level for sod and also work on getting the sprinkler pipes hooked up to the valves, but he doesn't like where they put the valve box so is going to move that whole thing. Sometimes I think the man thinks of things to do. LOL He loves to 'putz'.

Happy 4th of July!!!!! It's a cloudy and cooler day out today. Perfect for DH out working in the yard. We were cooler yesterday too in the 70's. He is getting lots done. It's going to look really nice. He's so talented in that type of stuff. Not much planned for today other than him working out there. Depending on his progress or if it rains we may go see a movie this afternoon. I've been wanting to see Toy Story. Silly? w/o kids? Heck I went and saw Marmaduke last. I was sitting here yesterday and realized something. I am not hating Utah as much as I thought I would. LOL I am getting to see my kids quite a bit this summer and shhhhhhh don't tell anyone, at least for the short term I am not missing the rest of the family that much. LOL I was feeling so burdened with Grandma, my sisters and what not and making everyone happy. Now I just go back and see Grandma when I can and don't worry about the rest. LOL We will be going back there in 3 weeks for a long weekend. DH has to testify in court in his carjacking trial and will use that as an opportunity to visit with the rest of the clan. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th. I watched lots of fireworks from my backyard yesterday (most of them were last night seeing as how this is Utah and the 4th is on a Sunday).

DH is making good progress on the backyard. Got a few bushes planted, HD had a sale 4 for $10, just the little guys but they'll grow! I'm trying to convince him to take a break at some point this weekend to go see Toy Story. No wet here, but at least it cooled down some. I like the 80's. Not a cloud in the sky. A perfect day. Sorry you are having so much wet in Texas and they had to cancel fireworks, Arlene.

Good morning. OOPs going red for the 4th. DH is out back working on the backyard, he's been up since about 630 out there. He's crazy, he loves that kind of work. LOL He took a break and we went to breakfast and Lowes to get some sprinkler parts and I got a Wisteria plant. It was one that said could be trained as a tree so I hope it can. I love wisteria, there were several kinds, who knew? Joyce, my dog is doing much better with the move now. I think she's finally feeling at home and we've had no more issues. She always has had an excitable bladder they call it but as long as we don't get her excited she's good and we are good about that now. We let her out when someone comes to the door etc. Glad you had a nice surprise visit with a good friend. Good for the soul! Eva, my last furniture didn't last long either and my tastes I've discovered change over the years so my philosophy now is to buy cheaper furniture that needs replacing every 6 to 8 yrs or so. LOL This stuff was super cheap at Costco but already I can tell it's better quality than my last stuff. Plus with as often as we seem to move what I buy to fit one house doesn't always fit well in the next. Laura, enjoy your 4th. Glad you are feeling braver this year. Linda, I'm not going any where for fireworks either. I wanted to go to Provo for the Stadium of Fire they call it and Carrie Underwood is performing but DH is too focused on his backyard, so hopefully I will see some from my house. I'm not sure what's around to see since this is new to me, but my last house in Denver from our front porch you could see fireworks from all around the city. Will hope for more of the same. We got hot dogs to grill tonight and hamburgers tomorrow to break in DH's new FAthers' Day grill.

Cheri, that's pretty much what I am doing about the dusting, only if someone is coming over and being careful not to draw in it. LOL It's a futile battle. One thing I noticed is it is so windy here everyday. I am beginning to think this is normal as it's been a month and most afternoons it's like a dust cloud out there and a hot wind so not even a refreshing 'breeze'. Boredom and nervousness are triggers for me. Keep me busy and I am fine. but the stress and nerves of the move with the hail damage, closings, etc. weren't good for me on teh scale and I now have some weight to lose again. it really ticks me off and then I beat myself up and get the oh screw it attitude and that's not good either. Lesson, NEVER EVER THINK I HAVE THIS BEAT!!

Just reporting in, I went to the gym today! WOOHOO! I went to the original location that I joined today that has the 'evil machine' I did 10 min on it today! First time could only do 5 so I've doubled. Too bad the scale hasn't moved. GRRRR I did not want to go today but made myself and feel good now that I did. Dang it though had to close the windows and turn on the air. It's hot and so windy. Living in a new subdivision when the wind blows so does the dirt. I've practically given up dusting.

Good morning, when is it going to cool down? I, like Julie, hate having the house all closed up with the a/c on, I'd much rather have windows open. They keep teasing us that it is going to cool down to the 80's but it's always tomorrow. Sortta like starting a diet, always tomorrow. LOL I got new family room furniture last night! We were planning on getting some after we got settled in here and just had 2 recliners in the family room. I went to Costco to get dogfood yesterday and they had all this furniture in. It's a 'pit style' that goes in an L shape like, and the shorter side has an extended section with no back sortta like to put your feet up on. I love sitting in the corner all propped up with my feet up. It's a little more contempory style than my taste but looks good anyway. The price was cheap that's what sold DH of course. LOL Let's see, Apples is hopefully recovering well from some dental work sitting on her deck at the lake, Phyl and Janet are laughing it up and having a grand time with the Lucky 7's, hopefully Janet's not freezing. LauraK is in Nevada helping her daughter get settled and w/o internet, hopefully that furniture will arrive sooner rather than later. Laura is in need of some me time and chasing around with Nels. Eva, is anxiously awaiting her long weekend to start early today, Julie is trying to wake up probably after taking pain pills last night, but here's hoping they weren't needed and the pain is better. Judy, rehearsing?? Jodi, getting ready for her alone time, Fire Island??? Jessica??? Linda, working? btw, Linda I still need to know where to send my share of the hotel money! Joyce hopefully isn't still sweltering from the heat and humidity. I shouldn't have started naming folks as now I am afraid I am forgetting someone, if so it's not intentional it's my groggy memory.

So Arlene, (said in my best Janet voice) what did you make those cupcakes for? Did you throw the rest out? I tend to make chocolate chip cookies when I get hungry for the dough, thinking well I'll just give away the cookies. Who am I kidding? I know darn well who is going to eat most of them if I do that.

Julie, the hairdresser was so so. I may try some others before going back to her, but she wasn't terrible. She did my eyebrows as well and she got a little too aggressive with them. She kept going on about how bad they were, and now I can see why as she evidently likes them real thin whereas I don't like them that thin. Guess they will grow out. The rock just got dumped off out front so DH has a project for the weekend. 'then sod next week. WOOHOO!! Oh, and for those that remember DH's carjacking, looks like the trial is July 26th, so guess I'll get to go to Denver again soon.
