I am a fan of spinach in salads as well but definitely not cooked. Phyl, hope your back is better. Must be something going around, my back has been hurting too. Not sure what I did if anything. And I got a horrible headache today. DH came home from work early and is hungry so I got dinner cooking already at 4pm. Making chicken thighs (I have a hard time with breasts getting stuck).

Good morning. Tried another class at the gym today, Pilates, not sure I liked it. It was hard though and I couldn't do a lot of it because she did so much from a position on your knees on the floor. With my artificial knees when I kneel it feels like I am kneeling on hundreds of needles. Not sure I will do that one again or not. but 2 out of the 3 classes I did were good, not bad. Awaiting a friend to call after her dentist appt for lunch, if she can eat. LOL Melissa, good job on the exercise. I hate, hate, hate it too. Did I mention, I hate it???? But it's just one of those things we gotta do. Just like brushing my teeth, I don't wake up and say oh boy I get to brush my teeth this morning, but it's just something I gotta do. Hopefully as I keep at this it will become more routine and I won't think of hating it so much each time I go. Eva, thanks for explaining the monsoons to me. That's what we are having. I hate the humid part. We got so much rain yesterday and hail. I panicked when it hailed given the last hailstorm we were in. This was just marble sized though and no damage, though parts not too far from me had worse. It's still cloudy and like it's going to rain today, looks like it should be cool out but it's hot and muggy. Did you decide if you are going to go to Argentina??

I was just thinking when I got lunch today that I meant to comment on the 'nugget test'. LOL For me good restriction is 4 nuggets, getting too loose is 6. LOL And I can never do Chik-Fil-A's for some reason every time I do they come back up via a PB or get stuck. I think it has to do with using the better breast meat and I get stuck on breast meat a lot, it's drier or something. I got a kick out of reading about Laura and Charlene and the nugget test. LOL Charlene, yep seems like that grandbaby was just born. Joyce, I wasn't even sure who Lady Gaga was when you first posted. So cool you went.

Apples update, she didn't get the John Deere cast, she got one she can remove to go in the shower, she had to beg the dr for that and promised to only remove it to shower. She said it's 'leather and lace' instead of JD green. LOL Oh and, Laura, it's the left arm, outside bone. I'm sure you know the technical term. LOL Oh am I going to be sore tomorrow. I just got up from sitting for about 15 min. and I am stiff already. OH OH Cheri, good for you in figuring out what works for your body as far as walking goes. Your words to Jessica about her MIL having a vested interest in keeping her dependent reminds me of my mom. Interesting, never saw it that way before.

I survived another class!! Yea me!!! Just had to foot my own horn. This one was very intense weights. I will be sore tomorrow but i liked it and am going to make the monday and wednesday class part of my gym routine. It will help me go sortta like an appt tomorrow is pilates not sure what it is but the instructor said after what i did today i would have no problem so will see I am typing on my new droidx and don't have punctuation figured out yet so please excuse my booboos Laura, thanks for the epidural info my mom is suffering back pain as well stenosis she said and bulging disk. She got a couple of those shots but they havent helped much. Not sure if much is going to help even surgery they say may not. If i had to do it all over again id be a nurse or surgery tech Arlene, its my son who got a big promotion yesterday still with walmart though thanks for the congrats Jessica i certainly hope i didn't offend you when i said i didn't like pink hair im just old school but if you like it and its fun go for it Eva love the droidx especially the big screen and just found out i get a discount on my plan via du company Janet tha.ks for encouraging me to do the classes. Good morning, just about ready to leave for the gym. Going to try a sculpting class today actually after my successful class on Monday, though I am sore from that one still. Jessica, I'm with Janet, but probably my age as well. Didn't like the pink hair, glad you are back to your beautiful blonde now. You did so well in school last time I am sure you will do great. Don't listen to the naysayers. Eva, so far I am really liking the DroidX, it's just taking this old broad a bit to learn it. I can do the basics like text, phone call, email and Facebook on it, it's all teh extra stuff that I really didn't want or need but came iwth it. Also, somehow I have all my Facebook contacts in my contact list so to look up someone's number takes forever. I really don't need all those on my phone but when I try to delete them it says I need to delete them from FB and I don't want to delete the friends entirely, just don't want say someone I went to HS with 30 yrs ago and never call to be in my phone number list. When I go to Denver next I'll get my son to help me set it up better. Karen, if you see this, am thinking of you this morning as you go back to the clinic to get your arm set or fitted or whatever. Hope the swelling has gone down. Julie, hope they find something easy to fix on the MRI and you get some answers onyour shoulder. LauraK, we've been more humid than normal and I'm not liking it. They keep talking about the monsoons coming up from Arizona, I never thought of AZ having monsoons thought it was desert? Well better get my butt in gear and to the gym. UGH! Still not liking it!

I just heard from Apples. After she posted her last post here, she ran up the stairs to get something she forgot, tripped and broke a bone in her arm. She still delivered her motor though and is at her lake place resting. She goes back to the dr tomorrow to have it fitted or set, there's too much swelling tonight.

Well I have a new tactic tonight to avoid the munchies. I put my PJ's on at 530. LOL I so wanted chips, ice cream, whatever but none of that in the house so I thought well Walmart is close I will just take a quick drive up there. So I put my PJ's on so I won't go out of the house. LOL DH won't be home til 9 tonight and it was just more of lonely, bored munchies. Melissa, as your quote under your names says love life be brave or something like that. Be brave and face the stressors w/o the candy. It'll get easier each time. Arlene, I had never heard of epidural shots causing weight gain, interesting. I knew steroid pills did. Hope the tylenol works for you. I just got a trim but guess my hair is sortta 'bob' style. I never know the right terms either ,which is probably why I never get what I ask for LOL Just got a call from DS...HE GOT THE PROMOTION!

Have a safe trip Apples! We miss you when you are gone. Enjoy the solitude at the lake place and relax after all you've been through this week. Cheri, WTG on tossing the candy! I can hear your roar! Julie, WTG to you on attempting some exercise. It doesn't matter how much you can do, just that you do what you are able. I know that was a big step for you and am so proud of you. Had my hair appt. it was okay, I did make another one in 5 or 6 weeks to try her again. Not sure about the cut but too early to tell until I was and style it myself. It was supposed to be a trim and shaping up so we shall see. After my hair I called around and finally found a DroidX phone so off to that Costco I went and exchanged my Droid for the DRoidX, now I gotta figure it out! I went with Verizon since I wasn't too happy with TMobile, but I kept my Colorado phone number so it's a local call for my kids and grandma to call me from there.

Good morning, about to leave in a few minutes to go get younger (hair cut and colored) trying another new place since I wasn't real crazy about the last place I went. I miss my hair person in Denver. I got up early and had breakfast with DH on his way to the airport to catch a flight to LA today (Ontario actually), he's gone just for the day though. Laura, I agree time for a new top. Cute photo though. A foo-foo drink by the pool sounds heavenly, do you do Lava Flows? I'm not even sure what they are but I get them in Hawaii and they are my favorite. Apples, you deserve a down day and a relaxing day. Turn up the music, roll down your windows on that drive and sing away. Well with that heat, you may not want to roll down the windows, though Tank, if he's like my dogs, will like the windows down and his nose out the window. Melissa, you are stronger than the candy. You can do this. Eva, hope the trip to Argentina with your friend works out. You are quite the traveller.

Well as if the gym wasn't enough for me, I just got home from the pool. I was so hot and sweaty that that sounded so refreshing. I just did a few laps but better than nothing. Gwen, it was me that didn't know what the 12 steps were, so thanks for posting, at least I now know what people are referring to. They sound powerful, no wonder they are so successful. Peaches, love it, Barbies Hot Mama!

One step ahead of you Janet, I already inquired about the Wed. morning class. It is Power Sculpt and think I will check it out. She said it was very similar to the class today but without the step. I did keep my step on the lowest (without the risers) as I was concerned about my knees but did just fine with it that low. I like what you said about being just like everyone else and being a 'normal chick'. I don't see myself as thin (and I'm not) but normal is good. I like that. I even got a glimpse of myself in the mirror in the midst of the workout and thought look at that girl go, I almost don't recognize her. And I allowed myself to sweat. To me sweating had the stigma of fat and out of shape. But, heck, even the instructor was sweating, it's okay and it's NORMAL. LOL

Good morning or afternoon depending on where you are. This is a post from my phone so hope I figured it out. I am on my home from the gym I knew Janet will be asking so yes I went. I actually did that class I mentioned a week or two ago called 24 set. Oh my I was so emotional when it was over because I did it all in fact I did as well as and even better than a couple others in the class. It was a circuit class cardio and sculpting with weights. I had to improvise a little for my knees. I was so intimidated by first joining a gym and secondly by taking a class. I mean those are for in shape thin people in my mind. I was sure everyone would laugh at me I stead I was one of them. I almost didn't go in because the back row was full I think I will even go back next Monday. So thank you Janet for encouraging me to go Apples- you certainly have had your share of grief saying an extra prayer for you today. So sad about your friend Melissa you can do this. If I Can anyone can. What if you went back and examined all the reasons you got banded in the first place? Remember the desperation, determination etc write them down. Make some small manageable goals come check in here daily. We are all here for you but you ha e to take the first step Julie sorry your pain is back. Did you ever vet an answer from your Dr about what happened Gwendolyn don't be surprised if you stop losing for a bit. You are entering into what many here call bandaged hell. The initial quick losses fromsurgery stop, you start getting hungry and you have no fill yet. You start to wonder if you did the right thing. This will change you will start getting fills. Right now is for healing

Nope, no camping this weekend. DH & I opted not to go once DS couldn't go. No sense driving 5 hours when we have close by places so we were going to do that, but DH really wants time to get his garage in order and just feel more organized since moving in. Between putting in a yard, unpacking, travelling, etc. it still feels like we aren't settled and living unsettled like. I keep reminding him we've only been in the house 2 mos. but he doesn't listen. LOL So we've been homing working on projects here. Just hung the last of the blinds on the windows and adjusting those now. I've tried keeping up on posts, lots of deep stuff going on. It's been a tear jerker weekend in a good way. It just shows how so many of our issues that we may have buried with food are still there only thing is, now we are dealing with them in a healthy way and no longer burying them. So keep venting away. Apples, I so appreciated what you wrote about your MIL. DH & I wonder too how we could've come from such disfunctional families, we worked hard to break that mold and enjoy a close bond with our kids as well. It's our parents who are now missing out on a great relationship with their grandkids. My MIL played favoritism so bad with DH's sisters kids that mine feel like they don't matter. Now MIL wonders why mine don't come around and visit much. It goes back to you reap what you sow. Then my mom started in on me one day how she feels like she doesn't even have grandkids (mine are the only ones) and I let her know maybe it has to do with the time you invested when they were young. She didn't like it but she doesn't bug me anymore about it. LOL I have never heard the words I love you from my parents. I made sure my kids went to bed nightly hearing it, and even as adults it's how we end almost every conversation on the phone or say good bye in person. And I intend to invest lots of time with my grandbabies! We can't change the past but we can certainly change the future. And I believe the past is what has made me into what I am today, it's how we deal with that past and move forward. Unfortunately for years I stayed stuck in my past and didn't deal well with it and ate and got fat. Now I feel that I am dealing with things and moving on from them. Laura, what a beautiful story you told Nels about the bird and the kangaroo. He's very lucky you came into his life. I am glad such a bad day was followed by such a good day. LauraK, you are not being selfish, vent away! This place is a soft place to fall and we all have our turns venting and growing and healing. Janet, sorry you had such a rough day as well. Teenagers are tough, yes even 19 yr old ones, and I think they stay teenager-ish into their early 20's. Eva, hope you can get some rest. We have directv and have had it for years, we are happy with it. DD's husband and DH's brother are both Comcast employees and give us grief though LOL Well I better go help DH some more, just snuck away for a bit. Oh and no Janet I didn't go to the gym thsi weekend, do plan on tomorrow though. Some how I tweaked my back though and it's driving me nuts.

Gwen, don't feel bad, I got my band a couple weeks after my 50th birthday and about week 2 or 3 I felt like I got run over by a truck. I think it's the recovery, the change in diet, body was losing weight fast and it just needed some rest. This too shall pass and you will feel that amazing energy, etc. that you are expecting, but maybe not for a few a bit yet.

Good morning. I am still so relieved with the verdict that came in last night. The DA had said what a solid case they had, but you always wonder about some technicality or something. Two or Three of the charges were directly related to DH. The sentencing is in Sept and we can go to that, at first DH said he wasn't interested but the more we think about it we might go and it's also a chance of course to go to Denver and see the kids. Apples, so glad you are loving the dental results already, it will be all the better when you have the permanent ones. Can't wait to see the new smile in Oct. Linda, everyone named Lori is my age or older too. I give my mom a bad time because I guess around that time was a big soap opera and there was a baby born named Lori. LOL I never had a class in school without at least one other Lori/Laurie/Lauri.

Arlene, glad your DD and the baby are fine. My DD has sortta talked of some names but not much yet. She was trying to think of a C or a D name. She's an A, her DH is a B and their last name is a C, so she thought they could be either A, B, C or A & B C____, and then kids D, E, etc. LOL She has her first ultrasound in 2 weeks and is very anxious for that. I don't know how you do that TX humidity. From what you said previously San Antonio isn't even that humid. We thought it was horrible. LOL

Apples, I admire you and the strength and wisdom you have. You always keep things in perspective and have your priorities in order, even in times of great stress and mouth pain. Thought you folks in more humid climates would get a kick out of this. Remember how I told you we whine when our humidity gets into double digits. Well it's outrageous today at about 50%. It's the big weather story on the news, they are showing pics of the haze, etc. LOL We had a few light showers this afternoon and the humidity is sticking around. I like the hot and dry. Janet, you would have to go and ask how the gym is going on a day I didn't go. I played hookey today, but I vaccuumed and cleaned, but that's not much I know. If I don't go camping tomorrow I will for sure go and if I do, I will hike.

Are any of the sisters staying with you? Is your son still in town? DH stays out of his sister's drama as well, though she likes to try and push his buttons and draw him in. The last time she did it via email, that didn't go so well. Will be sending some extra strong prayers for some super duper strength!

Apples, you don't sound like a 'hitter' at all. Just someone that needs to vent, vent away. I feel that way with our siblings all the time! DH and I talk often of what it will be like when something happens to either of our parents, especially his.

Peaches, thanks for sharing the bit about control. It hit the nail on the head for me. I was doing so good maintaining until my life spun out of control with this move and all. My family teases me about my control issues. I was so freaked out about the anesthesia during my surgery and not the actual surgery and DH said, of course, you don't want to give up that control LOL In many areas of my life I think I have gotten better, I used to drive my kids nuts, but this is something I definitely have to watch. Thanks so much. Laura, Take the car! LOL Just joking. I know what you are going through and it's rough. It hit me when I moved from California to Philadelphia. I became and empty nester (kids were living at home still in CA but stayed in CA while we moved east) and put a whole continentent between us, the hormones were raging, I knew no one out east and everyone was so unfriendly back there, DH was working all the time, I wasn't sleeping and I literally thought I was losing my mind. My dr there didn't take my complaints seriously and I felt so alone. When I got to Denver, I got a female doc she ran some hormone tests and just verified that I was indeed in the change. Just knowing that helped me somewhat. It did pass and get better but not for a year or two.

First, Apples, my condolences on the loss of your MIL. My thoughts and prayers are with you through this time, that's difficult enough then to have a sore mouth and a house full of company on top of it. You are a strong woman though and I know will get through it. Laura, the biggest menopause or perimenopause, whatever they call it these days, symptom I had was the night sweats. I took some CoQ10 and that helped a little. I wouldn't and didn't do HRT either. DH is off to PHX for the day today will be back this evening. Tomorrow afternoon we are supposed to go camping, am awaiting word from DS. His interview got rescheduled til today as on of the interviewers got jury duty yesterday. It's still with the same company. LauraK, great job on the walking!
