Happy Friday the 13th! I like Friday the 13's as it is a lucky day for me. DH and I had our first date on a Friday the 13th of Sep, 1974. Janet, sounds like you watch BB like me. I find out who wins HOH, POV, etc. ahead of time too but still watch the drama unfold (when I can fast forward as well). Eva, so sorry about your friend. It sounds like it was completely unexpected. Julie, I hope you get some answers at the pain dr. Linda, sorry the concert was cancelled. And you can bet I plan on spoiling my grandbaby. Speaking of grandbaby, DD had her first OB appt yesterday she had an ultrasound (she sent me my first baby photo LOL) and heard the heart beat. She said now it seems more real like she really is pregnant. Her official due date is March 13. DH got home from Dallas late last night so said he was coming home at noon today, we'll see, he says that but in actuality it will be closer to 3 I bet.
-
Oh I am sorry, Janet, I forgot about the time change, I shouldn't have posted the results. Hope I didn't ruin it for you. I'll be more careful.
-
Do many of you have troubles feeling your ports? Other than being able to see mine, I wouldn't even know it's there, I never worry about waistbands or anything, should I? Janet, sorry you are having a tough time. Sounds like Andrew is the typical teen/early 20, it's all about him. DH called it the center of the universe syndrome. I am just now seeing my kids coming out of it. LOL Walmart, now careful DS just got a big promotion there. LOL just joking, you aren't grumbling about his specific store. LOL I hated my Walmart in CO, but I love mine here. It's brand new and not busy at all. There's actually always clerks just standing there waiting for you to come in their line, you get up front and they are practically fighting for you to come to their line. Big Brother, I agree it's not a good year. I am glad Rachel is gone, Brendon is a whimp, will be interesting tosee how this week goes with him winning HOH. I would like to see the Brigade get exposed and have them get knocked down a few pegs. I am hoping Kathy wins it all at this point. Eva, I wouldn't have let that lady in front of me either.
-
I thought it was I-90 through S Dakota! But since we only drive it once a year thought I was having a senior moment and forgetting it's name. Anyone else here watching Big Brother? Anxious to see what happens when Rachel or Brendon leaves tonight. LOL She sure is something else!
-
Good morning! It's supposed to be a cooler day here today in the 80's which is perfect for me! Jodi, if I haven't commented I agree with the others, love the new pic. I enjoyed reading about your planning for Dassi's bat mitzvah. Is it a problem going to Rachel's tomb in Bethlehem. I know when we went to Bethlehem to see where Christ was born we had to cross into Palestinian territory. We had to leave our Isreali/Jewish tour guide and bus driver behind and board an Arab bus with an Arab driver and guide to go in. It was kindda scary and I was very relieved when we crossed back over. Of course, we couldn't cross back over until we visited their gift shop. Now that you mentioned it at the wall it was only the boys doing their bar mitzvah's and I felt sorry for the women who had to stay on their side of the wall and were standing on chairs trying to see over and throwing candy and some were singing. DH described things to me on 'his' side of the wall he said there was a library there and how they had this plexiglass by the edge of teh wall and it was dug all the way down and you could see how far down the wall went, we didn't have that on our side. Also when we went into the church where DAvid's tomb was we had to go on seperate sides. Janet, goodness you keep busy! NO wonder you are a size zero! Laura, your poor mom, that sounded so painful, but am happy to hear she is getting some relief from the shots now. Is Nels excited about starting school soon? I know in Denver, my friends kids started today already.
-
My bad then, I was thinking it was I-90 we took when we drove to S Dakota. I have family there and Wisconsin. Actually I have family in N Dakota too, but I've never met them. My grandma writes and calls there all the time, they are cousins of her's. Hope you have a safe drive. You are really going to see some of this country all the places you are going.

Phyl, would that be Primary Childrens? That's near the U of Utah and downtown. There's a neat area there called the Avenues but very pricey. We were discouraged when we moved here as well as houses were more expensive here. How close do they want to be? They must be looking pretty close. Glad your back seems to be doing better. I-90 that's the one through S. Dakota isn't it?
-
This is a pic of DH that the district atty sent that they showed in court of the carjacking scene and asked DH to describe how he was feeling at that moment. I think it's pretty obvious. LOL
-
((((((((APPLES))))))))) Those are hugs around you! I hope you get some answers on your wrist and hand. Sure miss ya and look forward to getting your text! I guess I gave the gals my daughter works with a laugh, I told her about my gym experience and they all thought it was funny that I didn't know that I was getting hit on. DH says it just might make him join the gym. LOL I am debating about trying the Pilates class again tomorrow. I didn't care for that one much mostly because I had a hard time doing a lot of the moves, but maybe if I keep going I will be able to and those muscles need work. DD has her first OB appt tomorrow. She is so nervous and excited. She has an ultrasound first and asked if I wanted a copy of my first baby pic. LOL They also said she should hear the heartbeat. It's fun watching her get so excited about being mommy.
-
Checking in from my phone so there will be typos just a warning. Ok the weirdest thing happened to at the gym. DH and DD say I was hit on. This guy came up to me and started talking and talking he goes on to tell me how he likes older women because they are wiser, more experienced, and comfortable with who they are and he likes curvy women. I told dd about it and she said, mom he was hitting on you, dh concurred. Its been so long i didn't even recognize it. Lol. I did the class today at the gym and so did he. Janet, dh's secretary was speechless after i told her i was queen but i earned her respect after that. Lol Jodi, dh and i were just saying we'd love to go back to Isreal but have no plans to do so. When we were there they were having lots of bar mitzvahs at the wall is that where you'd do Dassi's bat mitzvah? Btw how di you pronounce Dassi? Does it sound more lassie or daisy? Laurak, sorry things didn't work out with the ex but glad you recognized that now

Good evening. Linda, too funny about the McD's lady and her nuggets for breakfast. Silly lady, nuggets are for lunch. I got my nuggets today actually and get this. I paid for a 6 pc, sat down to eat them and they cheated me out of a nugget, I only got 5. I could've been the crazy woman. ha ha! So I went back and got the 6th nugget and they felt bad and gave me 2 more. Now the silly part, I only ate 5. DUH! What was I thinking? But by golly I paid for 6 and 6 is what I wanted. LOL As far as the JAP thing and camping in a Holiday Inn with panelling, until last year that was me. No way would I have ever thought I'd be tent camping much less enjoying it. SHHH don't tell DH I enjoy it some as he does so much for me because he knows it's not my thing. LOL He treats me like a princess. Maybe that's why I don't mind it, he does all the work. Linda, I hope you get some answers for your Merry. It's so tough when our fur babies get things wrong with them. We were so worried about our Hunter a couple years ago when she had a run in with a barbed wire fence in SD. But they were able to stitch her up okay, was concerned about her leg/paw. I think it comes down to quality of life for the dog. That's how we looked at it when we had our rotties put to sleep (not at the same time). Julie, I didn't think of the mandarin oranges in that salad in place of the pineapple. Heard from Apples after the MRI, she won't have the results for 2 days. She said this was a 'country bumpkin' of a dr and as soon as she got the results she was having them sent to another dr. She has a dental appt tomorrow on top of all this. She is in wait and see mode on the arm/wrist/hand.

Oh I want to be a princess! Let's see I could be a NGFSAP (Norwegian, German, French, Swiss American Princess). Funny story about being a princess. When DH first started his job in Philadelphia his new secretary told him upon meeting him, that she was a 'princess' and expected to be treated as such. Well, DH had told me that so when I first met her I told her, 'you may be a princess, but don't you forget, I am the queen'! Janet, I forgot to comment on the new 'do, I love the bangs, you look younger. Arlene, I am thinking I might go down to our pool, it didn't look too crowded when I drove by. Our super hot heat wave seems to have disappaited as well as the humidity though expected to return. Plus by the looks of Walmart this morning all the kiddos are out back to school shopping!

Apples update (that's why it written in green). She is still up at her lake place because that is where the dr is. She is in extreme pain and not sleeping, she said they offered her some pain pills but as she put it she turned them down because they make her 'projectile puke'. She is going to have an MRI today as they think possibly her hand and wrist are broken as well. She said she'd let me know after the MRI what she finds out. Poor Apples.

Okay, what's a JAP?? Feels like a cooler day out today. I love it but already am feeling a tinge of fall in the air. I love fall just don't want it to lead to winter. LOL I like winter but only about 2 weeks of it over the holidays then I'm done. And from what I remember about Salt Lake winters is lots of inversions. There's mountains on all sides and the fog and much can't get up and over the mountains. It will be sunny and nicer at the higher elevations and 20's and mucky here. DH is in Los Angeles for the day today. I am awaiting word from DD about if she is off work tomorrow or not before I decide whether or not to go to Denver for the day tomorrow. If she's not off and my Grandma insists on having lunch at her assisted living place it makes not much sense for me to go. Grandma will want to be there and waiting for lunch by 11 and won't be done til 1ish. I won't get there til 10ish and am ready to head to the airport about 2ish. Jodi, so are you saying when they taught us the dance they were laughing at us. LOL All I remember about it is going around in circles and then every once in awhile going into the middle and raising our joined hands. I suppose it's kindda like growing up in Wisconsin where I did. There was always the polka that all the older generation knew and did before it switched over to 'regular' music. LOL The youngsters weren't into polka. Julie, I've had that cookie salad, it's pretty good, though the person that gave me the recipe used canned pineapple tidbits, I left that out as I hate pineapple. But fruit cocktail might be better for me, but it was fine with neither too. Goodness it's almost 930, I slept in way too late, haven't done that in a long time. Got up at 830. Have a load of laundry in and better get some more done around here.
-
Jodi, 128 oz to a gallon, 74 oz times 3 days = 222 oz so take 2 gallons (256 oz) and have a quart extra and 2 oz extra. LOL Will you also need water to clean up with? Bring lots of wet wipes! That's what I do when I go tenting it. I usually have extra water but we camp at such high altitudes here that you dehydrate quicker. Have fun. Bring a pad or something soft to sleep on! Your talk about Isreali dancing reminded me of our trip to Isreal. We took a cruise on the SEa of Galilee and they taught us to dance to a song called Hava Nagela (is that you spell it)

Julie, maybe you posted when I was away and didn't catch it when I came back and read fast, what was it that the nurse said to the dr?? How nice of you to take dinner to your friend. Some folks from my church in Denver did that for a week after my first knee surgery, it was so nice to get something new for dinner every night and not have to worry about it. Jessica, I know you want a special party for Jacob. But really when my kids were young they loved the simple parties as much as the elaborate ones. Just a few friends and some cake and ice cream so don't feel bad if you can't throw him a big bash. And I agree, husbands don't get it sometimes. Well lots of times. LOL
-
I'll post a pic of the pond when it's done, tight now you'd think what the heck is that? LOL So excited, DH called to say he has our rooms booked for Hawaii next week! 3 nights in Maui and 2 in Honolulu. I love that he has to go to Hawaii for business, poor guy, but lucky me!
-
Me again, you aren't rid of me after all. I didn't get on my flight. The joys of flying non-rev (which means employee non revenue and standby). So I am back at home and need to go back to the airport to pick DH up from work later since I rode in with him this morning. I may try again on Wed. but not sure, Grandma is being ornery. LOL She insists she can't miss her lunch at her assisted living place that day to save her 'spot'. LOL But my kids may both be off work that day and if so I will go spend the day with them and take them to lunch. So knees, I think I mentioned in my last post at the airport but not sure now, but Gwen & Phyl, I had them done about 7 weeks apart. I just finished therapy on one and did the other one. I did great and couldn't believe how strong the first one was already. Pond: Julie, we are putting in a small pond with a water fall and some plants around it, in it and some fish. DH had a much larger one in CO but Lucy my part lab/part Viszla dog thought it was her own personal spa. She loves water and has been in this one 3 times yesterday as it was filling. LOL DH got some flagstone and staggered them to make the water fall and is in the process of building it up. As long as part of it is at least 3 feet deep the fish can live in it all winter. We got to 15 below a few times in Denver and each winter they survived. I love the sound of the water especially at night in the summer with the bedroom window open. Arlene, I might need frizz serum if I lived in humidity but not needed her usually. Another reason I hate humidity. LOL Apples, hows the arm, coming home today??

At the airport awaiting a flight to denver to see grandma. Talk to you when i get back oh and gwen i had my knees done two months apart

Hi Gwendolyn, I have both knees replaced. You can bend to the floor with the new knees and my doc said I wouldn't hurt them by kneeling on them, but they hurt me to do so. And he recommended not doing so for a year and said the pain would get better to kneel by then too. I did not have them both done at the same time. I asked for that as well as a friend of mine did both at the same time. My dr refused to do them both at the same time, he said I would recover better one at a time and be better for it in the long term. However, just as you have probably realized with the band and different things posted here that different docs have prescribed for bandsters, there are various different opinions on this. I, too, wanted the pain just once. So I guess it comes down to what works best for us and what our docs recommend. Recovery is tough enough with one knee. You will still get more physical therapy after the one week at the rehab, right? Will you be in FL when you get your knees done? My mom had her hip replaced and went to a rehab place in the Villages. She said the therapy was great but the other care not so much but then again, my mom is a glass half empty type of person as well. Now that I am 9 mos out from my knee surgery, I feel better than ever and am so glad I had it done. What a difference!

Good afternoon. My is it windy out today but cooler so that is nice, I got the windows open and the breeze blowing through. The house is so dusty what's a bit more dust. The street behind me isn't built yet, there's a few homes underconstruction so I get lots of dust. Lately I only dust when expecting company. LOL DH says he caught my headache today. Hmmm, maybe it was a little bug or something, I just felt so down and out, and he's incredibly tired. not that it's not stopping him from working on his pond, it would take a lot more to slow him down. Purses: Nope, I carry the same one for at least 6 mos. I never change with outfits. In fact the sales gal at the Coach store was telling me if I tied a black scarf on my camel colored purse I could carry it with black shoes. HA HA, like I wouldn't w/o the scarf. My grandma was always very into the shoes matching the bag, and never wear white after Labor Day etc. I tend not to follow such rules. Janet, when I grow up I want to be as good a shopper as you. LOL I'm trying though. LOL Size 0, impressive!

Good morning. What a nice evening it was in Park City last night. I forgot to add when I posted last night about how much walking I did. First we walked the entire perimeter of the outlet mall (used to park by each store), then when we got to the Historic Main Street for the festival, had to park a long ways away and then booths are all down the Main Street and this being a mountain town, yep all on a hill. I remember going there over 10 yrs ago when we lived her before and just hating it, I was so out of breath (it's also at a high elevation) and hurt so bad and sweaty from the walking. Heck yesterday we almost walked the whole thing twice (booths on both sides of the street) and I was still ready to do more. Didn't get all huffy and puffy or sweaty even. It was so liberating to be able to do that and my knees held up great, I used to hate walking on slopes with downhill being worse the uphill with my bad knees. So the evening was extra enjoyable. Oh and the name of the restaurant we ate at...The EATING Establishment. LOL Also got everything in my new Coach bag today so feeling good. And to help with the feeling good is my headache is gone. I can still feel like I had a bad headache but it's pretty much gone. Got up early this morning to do the Home Depot and Lowes weekend tour with DH. LOL We are there every single weekend. This weekend it was to get stuff for the pond he is now digging and putting in the backyard. The man never rests. And he came home from the art festival all inspired to make new things. on top of all his yard work, etc. he loves to carve, paint, draw etc. and he does it all so well. I think in retirement that he might want to travel the shows and sell his 'wares'. Works for me. Apples, thinking of you this weekend. Laura, good luck with all the cooking at your mom's. Linda, I bet those aprons are cute. I can't wait to buy for my grandbaby! I just had to stroll the Carters Childrens outlet yesterday. LOL
-
Good evening! I am home from the art festival and outlet mall. We scored at both. I got a new Coach bag at the outlet. Janet, I get the coupons all the time too, but figured when I finally was going to get a purse they wouldn't send any more. LOL I think the one I got is called a 'Brooke' style, it is a tan color, I had an orangey color picked out first but thought I might tire of it quickly. The store was packed, probably because of all the art festival traffic, they are expecting 50,000 people over the weekend to attend that, most will be tomorrow. Tonight was free though and we strolled the old Main Street of Park City had dinner in one of the cafes, it was real nice. My headache is better, it was almost gone actually but seems to be coming back tonight. But I haven't taken any Tylenol since this afternoon. Phyl, of course, there is a Coach outlet in Vegas, a few of them I believe as well as Ann!! If I get any coupons that are good in Oct. I will be sure to bring them or forward them to you. Laura, the hospital I had my lap band at had a bariatric dept and the director of that was a NP. Perhaps you can use that in the bariatric world?? If it is meant to be for you to go back to work, I am sure the right thing will fall into your lap. Janet, glad Bella is home I bet she's cute in her collar.
-
Well see, Janet, I lounged in bed with my headache this morning trying to get rid of it so I could go to Park City. LOL And I'd have to be really really bad to not go to the outlets, my Coach coupon expires in 2 days! LOL Yep gonna get me a new one, I hope! Been pumping Tylenol and even went to mcD's and got me a $1 diet coke, hoping the caffeine helps the headache. (I don't do coffee, yucky pooey!)
-
Good morning. Oh do I have a headache today, it started yesterday afternoon and hasn't gone away yet. I'm not going to the gym today (I did my 3 days this week anyway) but our plan is to go to Park City for the art festival and just might have to check out an outlet mall up there this afternoon. That will be lots of hilly walking at the festival so that will be my exercise. Just hope this headache gets better. Janet, yep gonna be careful with these knees. I may give the pilates class another try but will improvise or sit out any exercises done from the knees. The other 2 classes did so much quad exercises and my quads and thighs are so sore but that is a good thing. I think the more I strengthen those muscles the better for my knees. At least that's what the therapist told me. Eva, so cool about going to ARgentina. Will this be your retirement trip? You are still going to Vegas right? Laura, hope your mom gets some relief. Glad you are able to go be with them. Charlene and LauraK, you 2 are quite the walkers. Impressive!
