Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Maybe I don't understand your post right, are you saying in order to live you have to have Blue Bell ice cream? :confused2: :confused2: It's because I want to live and live healthy at that, which drove me to have the surgery and avoid those type of foods. I will have the occassional 'treat' but that's very occassional, no more than once a week and only one thing according to my nutrtionist. Maybe that is what you are saying as I type this out.. Excuse me if I got it wrong.

Congrats, numbrgrl!! I got my surgery date for my gall bladder. It is to be Friday morning (the 8th) at 730am. I'd appreciate all the prayers! In the mean time I've lost 4 lbs since my fill!! One and a half more and I hit the big 5-0!!!

    I'm here to help...

I'm not Janet, but was concerned about your legs especially. These sound like questions for your Dr. or maybe the nurse can answer them. A blood clot can be serious. I'm 2 mos out and still take liquid tylenol. Good luck!
  4. Gycerine suppositories did the trick for me. I really wanted to avoid anything 'suppository' but after metamucil, stool softners, and no results I used one of those and Voila about 30 min. later relief! Now that is the route I go if it happens but luckily my system seems to be reglating itself and getting used to it's new diet.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

First thing is you have to be sure you are doing this for you, with your without your husbands support. And not be the victim, not saying you are, I know I was. I couldn't do this because _____ wasn't supportive, or I couldn't do this because of ______, etc. I have/had incredibly low self esteem, losing weight alone isn't going to change that. You will be the same person, just thinner. So I am beginning to work on me and not identifying myself solely by my weight. There's self image and body image and they are different. I think overweight women especially tend to make them all one. I can hate my body but like the person that I am, if that makes sense. You were brave to try yoga with arthritic knees. My knees are bad and there are yoga poses on my Wii Fit, no way can I do most of them. Good luck with your consult and your decision.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Yep he does. He thinks it might have been in not so good shape before, but just not enough to cause symptoms and then the loss has aggravated it. With my wanting to continue losing especially he recommended removal as it would aggravate it more. And the ultrasound showed stones and not to risk a stone getting stuck in a bile duct or something. I was in the lapband chat room here recently and someone in there mentioned they heard 40% of banders have gall bladder issues. Not sure if there is any truth to that or not, I've not seen that statistic in an 'official publication' or anything. I asked my dr. how much a gall bladder weighed and he just laughed at me.

I eat about 700-900 calories in a day, rarely more and sometimes less. I try to watch more my protein. I haven't noticed much of a difference since my small fill yesterday in my restriction. Was hoping for more so hopefully I can get another fill soon after surgery.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Well I've not felt like doing much riding. I have gone to the gym some. Guess I am going to have to put the bike up for a few weeks. I am going to be having gall bladder surgery next week on Friday. Will be nice to have it over with, but not looking forward to another surgery so soon, was banded on June 5th. But I do look forward to this ache in my side being gone!

That would be a neat way to celebrate our 'bandiversaries'! We could all go to a buffet together and present our restaurant cards to order from the childrens menus at the same time. Though I still don't think I could get my money's worth at a buffet! And I don't want to! I have done enough of that in the past. I was just joking about the buffet!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Good evening, nifty fifties! I got the call from my dr's office today. I am scheduled for gall bladder surgery next week!! EGADS!! Friday Aug 8th. I'm not quite as excited this time. But I will be happy to have it behind me. It's almost 2 mos to the date since my banding. I will have it at the same hospital, same surgeon. Been there done that!! Said I will probably go home same day too. Three small incisions this time and he can probably use 2 of my previous ones. No preop diet, just nothing to eat or drink after 10pm the night before. Here I go again! He also said he'd be checking out his 'handiwork' while in there (the band) so guess I will have reassurance all looks good there.

    Daily News!

Well I got my surgery date for my gall bladder. It will be next week, Friday the 8th. It's almost 2 mos to the day since my lap band surgery (it was the 5th of June). I'm anxious and nervous all over again, but at least know somewhat what to expect. Same hospital, same surgeon, deja vu! I will be happy to have this all behind me. No preop diet, just no food or drink after 10pm the night before. And should only be 3 incisions this time and he can reuse 2 of them. I had fill number 2 yesterday even though my 1st one was only 2 weeks ago and I was down 7 lbs since then. I got a 'tweak' of .5cc. But I can't tell the difference. I didn't want to get too agressive with facing surgery. Afterwards, I want another one to get more restriction.

    I'm here to help...

Good evening. I got my phone call from the surgeon's office today. I am going to have my gall bladder surgery a week from tomorrow (Friday), August 8th. Today is my 8 week 'bandversary' and my next surgery is almost 2 mos to the day of my banding. Same dr., same hospital. I'm nervous but anxious to have it behind me. On a positive note, I was down 2 more pounds today for a total of 47!!! 3 more and I am half way to 100!!
  13. I thought it was called the 3 mos and out class or Overview, something like that. I am signed up for it. It is August 18th from 6-9 pm in the Goodstein (I think that's the name) building across from Rose in the basement the last I checked. I just emailed Kim to sign up via the website. Maybe I'll see you there!

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

I went for my 2nd fill yesterday and I lost 7 lbs since my first fill!!! WOOHOO!! 1st fill was only 2 weeks ago! I just got a tweak she called it of .5cc's since I was losing good but starting to get hungrier and able to eat more. I'm not noticing much difference though in the 'tweak'.

    Christian bandsters

Woo Hoo!! Great job ladies! I got my 2nd fill yesterday, my first was 2 weeks ago and I lost 7 lbs since then! She gave me only .5cc's, just a tweak as I was beginning to be able to eat more. And I'm down 2 more today! PTL!! I would like some prayer, however. I did find out yesterday I am going to have surgery again, only 2 mos post band. I am having gall bladder issues and my surgeon recommends removal. They are going to be calling me with a surgery date, but probably in the next couple weeks. I'm thankful my band surgeon can do it. That's what he used to do before concentrating solely on bariatrics but still performs general surgeries and his patients.

    I'm here to help...

I love this band! I got a 2nd fill yesterday, just a 'tweak', I got .5 cc's, I already had a total of 7. And I'm down 2 lbs today!! 3 more and I hit 50!!! (disclaimer: 10 lost while researching surgeries and dr's and on Weight Watchers, the rest since my first visit with my surgeon). I also spoke to my surgeon yesterday about my gall bladder and he really recommends taking the thing out so I am going to go under the knife once again 2 mos after my banding. I don't have a surgery date yet, they are going to call me and let me know, they took all the insurance info since I was self pay for the band they didn't have it all on file. He also said he would check out his 'handiwork' while in there (the band) and see how it looked. He can use 2 of the same incisions plus one new one. Before concentrating solely on bariatric procedures he used to do 5-7 gall bladders a day, so I feel in good hands. He still does those procedures for his bariatric patients so I feel in good hands. CathyChatts, could you be retaining due to the heat? I think i am, we are setting heat/drought records here. Today we break a 107 yr old record for number of days in the 90's or higher. (99 today and 101 tomorrow) UGH!! But soon I'll be complaining of the cold so better enjoy it!
  18. Hi Denver Girl, Just had to say hi when I saw your screen name. I am in Denver too! Banded in June by Dr. Snyder. Best thing I have ever done for myself!!

Jazzy Junes First Fill Line up

I got my second fill today!! I had 7cc's in my band already so just went with .5 today as I have restriction, just not enough and was afraid of an overfill. if not enough I will get more in 2 weeks. Good news is that I was down 7 lbs since the last fill and that was 2 weeks ago. I'm happy with that. Bad news is, I am for sure going to have gall bladder surgery in a week or two. Not looking forward to another surgery so soon, but they recommended I do it and put it all behind me. My test results came back 'abnormal' and I've been having a dull ache in my upper right side/back.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Gall Bladders, who needs 'em anyway? I just got home from my surgeon's and I am going to get the surgery to have it removed. He recommended it due to my symptoms and my abnormal ultrasound. He said he used to do several gall bladders a day before he concentrated soley on bariatric procedures but still does several a month on his bariatric patients, so I feel in good hands. Wednesdays are the day that he sees all the prospective bariatric patients so the office is swamp. The gal that schedules the surgeries was so busy she said she'd call me in the next few days and get it scheduled. It will probably be in the next week or two. fun fun!! On a positve note, I lost 7 lbs since my last fill 16 days ago!!! And I got a .5cc fill today. I felt I just needed a 'tweaking' I can eat more than I was but still have some restriction. We'll see how this goes.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Send the rain this way. We are in the middle of a hot, dry drought. Today we tie a 107 yr old record for number of days 90+ and tomorrow we break it. It is supposed to be in the 100's by the weekend. And we are way short on our water for the year. I hate to see my a/c bill!! And water bill! Deanna, the pics side by side of the same outfit, you can really see the difference. Congrats!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

To update my ticker, I usually just click on my ticker and it takes me to a page to update. I just put in my password, change the weight and voila, it automatically updates it here. but today that wouldnt' work and I had to create and save a whole new one.

    I'm here to help...

Well feeling a little anxious this morning. I see my surgeon this afternoon and will find out about my gall bladder surgery and also a possible 2nd fill. I think I need somewhat of a fill but not much as I do have some resriction at times, but others I could eat double or more than the 4 oz I am supposed to. Ellen, it does seem like in the post op phase you are thinking of food/drink/protein all the time. It does get better. I was to drink something every 15 min. and sometimes just didn't want to. Killjcarr, I got 3 cc as my first fill (had 4cc already in at surgery) but I have the large band (14cc), but think everyone is different as far as what it takes for them to feel restriction. good luck! Janet, size 2?? Awesome!! my daughter just got a size 2 dress and was elated, she's normally a 4 or 6.

I have United Health Care, didn't need a sleep study but then again UHC would not pay for my surgery and I had to do self pay.
