I feel both Dr's are equally competent surgeons. Have you tried checking out other surgeons in the area. There are quite a few. If you don't feel comfortable and/or respect their opinions on what we have done to our bodies then maybe they are not the right surgeons for you. I have been seeing them since March 2008 and I have had a great experience with both. Lorraine

I had Dr. Baptista do my surgery. Both Dr's are great. It depends on what day of the week as to what surgeon you get and who does your fills. I had my surgery on May 27, 2008 and so far have lost 50lbs. Good luck with your journey! Lorraine

anavrin - I was banded may 27 by Dr. B. I go for my first fill July 3. Did he ask you if you wanted to be filled that much? To me it seems very agressive. I hope you feel some restriction soon. Stay strong.

I think I saw you today at Dr Cywes office. I had an appointment at 2:15. First post-op visit since being banded 5/27. I lost 12 lbs of pure fat according to his PA. Next month 1st fill. I am experiencing post-op blues, not about the band, but about the fact that I treated my body so bad all these years. Im sure it will go away once I find something to fill my time other than eating (my friend) & thinking. Wow, most open I've been about this experience. I wonder if Dr Baptista does the tummy tuck & arms also. Some insurances will cover the surgeries of done by a general surgeon rather than a plastic surgeon. Oh well there is my two cents. TTYL!!

My appointment is at 2:30 w/Dr Baptista. Maybe some other time. Iam interested in getting together with other bandsters.

Thanks for asking. Iam doing well I think. Not a lot of pain any more, had to stay in the hospital overnight sugars were out of wack. I go see Dr. Baptista on Tuesday.

Ok so I have been reading this blog for some time now and feel its time to dive in. I am seeing Dr. Baptista, I will have my surgery 5/27 (My new birthday). I can't believe it is comming so soon. I am nervous and excited. I got all my liquids today for the preop, which will be during the Memorial Day weekend and I have to work. If anything worked for you to get through this period please let me know. Oh God I feel like I'm getting married again!!! LorraineS

Hi! Im just starting the process to get the Lapband. My insurance just decided to cover lapband this year. I can't wait til I get the surgery and start this new journey.
