dperson replied to pearson14872's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Pearson i do have one regret and that is that i didnt do it sooner. Best thing i have ever done for myself. I lost 44lbs since sept 08. No problems thank god. Do it and dont look back. This summer im going to look great and feel great. -
Some people do lose hair but i read here that biotin and zinc help. Trust me it does work, my hair is growing like crazy. Also, you must eat 60-80 grams of protein a day and that helps with reducing hair loss. You lose 1-2 lbs a week and after 3 years the amount of weight loss is equal between the 2 surgeries. Ypu are suppose to have 2 chewable vitamins a day. I take flintstones. Yuk! Lapband surgery was the best decision i have ever made. Surgery was sept 4,08 and i am down 44lbs. Good luck hope this helped

Start exercising as soon as your doctor gives you the go ahead. We all went through being able to eat any and everything but stay strong and keep telling yourself when you get your first fill you dont want to have to lose those pounds all over again. Good luck

My doctor said it was okay for me to start using weights and i was only two weeks post op. She told me to listen to my body and i had no problems. I started lifting at the weight i did pre surgery. Good luck

Two weeks after my surgery i began to feel no restriction. I pretty much just tried to watch what i ate. Five weeks ater surgery i had my first fill and had a little restriction for a few days. Then three weeks later had my second fill and now am quite pleased. I get full after just a few bites and can't eat anything before noon. I for some reason am tight in the mornings. I wonder if this is my sweet spot. You will notic a difference after you start having fills. Good luck and no you did not make a mistake getting the band. Hang in there, it gets easier.

New here - how long does surgery take?
dperson replied to T-bonz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was 45 minutes. My only regret is that i didnt do it sooner. Banded sept 4, 08 and down 30lbs. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck -
I think you need a fill. My doctor says when you stop losing or can eat a whole patty its time for a fill. They are not bad at all.

Soooo Freakin' Gross!
dperson replied to sistasassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sliming or pb'ing feels like a fist has hit you in the middle of your chest. Very painful! I've only done it once and that was enough for me. I make sure to stop eating as soon as i feel the least bit full. During sliming your mouth feels with saliva and its just out of control. Don't want to gross you out but its really just pain and a lot of spitting. This went on for me for over an hour. I guess it was good to experience it b/c now i don't overeat. Good luck -
Success is how you see it!

HI HILARY, I JUST WANT TO SAY I AM SO PROUD OF YOU AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU. JUST READING YOUR STORY AND VIEWING YOUR PICTURES IS SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ME. I WAS BANDED ON SEPT 4, 08 AND HAVE LOST ONLY 22LBS. I WAS GETTING SO VERY DISCOURAGED. I WORK OUT 5-6 DAYS A WK AND AM PRETTY GOOD WITH MY EATING. CAN'T SEEM TO BREAK THIS PLATEAU. BUT I'M GOING TO KEEP TRYING GOD BLESS:thumbup: -
Could be from the anesthesia. Did you call your doctor about the headaches?

Pain after eating or drinking
dperson replied to Birchmoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor asap. You will become dehydrated and you need to find out what is going on. Good luck -
Wasn't able to do full 2 weeks of pre-op diet.
dperson replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor only required i wk of pre op liquid diet. That was difficult enough. Do try to start because you don't wnat your liver so enlarged that they open you up only to close you back without your band. Good luck -
I just had one done 4 days ago. They just use a special xray machine to be able to fill your band as they watch you drink barium. You can watch the barium travel down your esophagus thru the band and tell how much restriction there is. Better this way. Less of a guessing game. Good luck

I too have severe arthritis. Have you tried aqua aeorobics. It helps with the pressure off your joints.

Hi mermie, i was banded on 9/4/08 and have only lost 18lbs. I can eat as much as i did before surgery so needless to say im a little depressed. I need a fill bad. I am scheduled to have one 10/20/08. Im going to hang in there till then and just try to watch what i eat. Good luck

Hi all, i got a tip from the forum to check this website. It is dr fox's plateau busting diet. Sometimes you just have to switch things up. Increase your work out time or do a different exercise. Your body gets used to doing the same or eating the same and you just have to shock it. Good luck

I HAD SEVERE BACK PAIN AND THE BEST THING WAS WALKING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. MINE LASTED 3 WEEKS. HANG IN THERE ,IT GETS BETTER.:smile2:

Anybody's spouse an "eating buddy"?
dperson replied to BethFromVA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 4 weeks post op and it is the best thing i could have done for myself. My husband is a junkaholic and i used to be one also. Since being banded i did fall off the wagon a few times but i'm fine now. Those few times i was really just eating to eat. I didnt gain any weight but didnt lose any either. Like i said i'm back on track and figure thats pretty stupid to go through the surgery just to cheat in the end. So i've had know cravings, not even when he is gobbling down junk food. My husband like yours is not overweight. Good luck -
Hi everyone, i was banded sept 4,08 and have no regrets. It was the best thing i ever could have done for myself. As a single mother for so many years, i neglected my needs. Put my kids first. Always my kids first. No regrets for that either because they are both grown and doing very well. I've lost 17 lbs and my clothes are getting loose and the confidence is starting to go through the roof. Yoohoo!!!!!! Good luck all

Hi carrie, i am 2 wks post op and have been told no soda unless you let it go flat. So whats the sense in that? However, i have not missed it. In fact, i love losing the weight more than missing the soda.
