Can we talk about staying hydrated?

Hi all. Suger-free popsicles and ice have helped me keep hydrated. I'm 3 weeks post op and it does get difficult because you are so limited on how much your new tummy can take. What also helped was I got some of those 2 oz shot glasses that look like the red solo cups and if you drink one of those every 30 mins you can get your fluids in. Make sugar free popsicles and ice your new besties...lol. Also be prepared to be an emotional wreck. You will hear people say they have or had buyers remorse. Which your bariatric team doesn't mention. I had a major meltdown the first week I was home and was telling my husband why did I do this. Just be patient and take it one day at a time and you will get through this. Good luck to you.

    Vomitting

Hi Sassysleve76. It sounds like your might be eating to much. Measure every you eat. My dr told me no more than 1/4 cup per meal. I thought he was nuts. I ofcourse was like I'm going to starve, but I went home and I have been measuring every and it has been working out very well. I eat no .ore than 1/4 cup and I am completely satisfied and I don't feel like I over ate or like I'm going to vomit anymore. Good luck to you. I hope that you great success.
  3. Yes, your emotions will be all over the place. A good friend of mine also had sleeve sugery and she is a nurse. She told me as you loose fat it releases hormone and she also said it will be for the next few months. Take it one day at a time. Before you know it you will be time for squishy foods. Hang in there. You got this.

    Favorite breakfast food ideas

Hi Kristen117. I had the same issue with the protein shakes. My dr had me switch from non-fat milk to almond milk. My body can no longer tolerate milk. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I just had my post-op and I'm down 20lbs. My dr wants me to eat more protein. Which I don't think will be as hard now that I am able to eat squishy foods. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I felt the same way. I was in the hospital for 5 days after became I couldn't eat or drink anything. Everything tasted really sweet including water....lol. You are going to be very emotional for the next few months. I just take it one day at a time. You got this. It will get easier. Good luck to you. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    September bypass buddies??

I had surgery on August 17th. I go for my post-op appt tomorrow. So far so good. It was a struggle at the beginning and of course I had a meltdown and wished I didn't have the surgery, however; a couple of my friends who had the surgery said I would go through that. I am just taking it one day at a time. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I had my sleeve surgery on August 17th. Sugar free popsicles and ice cubes help me get the fluid in. I can't drink the premier protein as it makes me really nauseous so my dr had me switch to almond milk. I just hope it works...[emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] good luck on your journey. 9. Lack of calories and caffeine maybe. Could also be that your not getting enough fluid. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Hi. A friend of mine said to be careful with sugar. In the nutrition class I had to attend post surgery we were told nothing with more than 14 grams of sugar. Sugar can give you constipation. Are you still on pain meds? That will also cause issues with your bowels. Good luck on your Journey. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I had my surgery 8/17. I ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days because I couldn't drink the 64 oz. Of fluid partly because I was sleeping so much from the meds. Get sugar-free or no sugar added popsicles. They help with the fluid intake. I also have a glass of water with ice Nd a cup of ice cubes to suck on. I had the opposite effect with the water. I couldn't drink it unless it was really cold. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vomitting

Hi Jskelly. I was having the same problem. I called my nurse and they had me switch from non-fat milk to almond milk. They say I am most likely intolerant now. I had a really difficult time with eating post surgery. So I tried so many different things. Sugar free pudding, soup, popsicles. Split pea is what I lived on for the first 2 weeks. I just started the squishy stage and things seem to be ok so far. I just c as not tell if I'm full or not and it scares me to eat. I did learn that getting the hiccups is a way of your body telling me to stop eating. I wish you luck. It does get easier. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I had my sleeve surgery on August 17, 2018. I ended up having to stay in the hospital for 5 days due to issues from the anesthesia. After coming home it was really difficult for me to still eat. The protein shakes made me sick so I had to switch to protein powder and almond milk. It's been a huge struggle, however; I'm taking it one day at a time. The one thing that they don't tell you in all the classes and appointments is that your emotions will be all over the place. You will cry at the littlest things or get frustrated and angry and go through the stage where you will be saying "why did I do this". It does get better. Well now I am on to the squishy stage and starting to eat real food, however; I am afraid to eat. I can't tell if I'm full or not. Anyone have any suggestions or advise on how to tell if you are full. The only thing that I found out was if you get the hiccups while your eating it's your tummy saying stop no more food.
