    Hi!!

hi tara & congrats on your date, your 5 days before me..wish you luck & you will be fine on your liquid diet..
  2. I quit nearly 3 yrs ago, & glad i did, but getting back to your situation, when i smoked after operations, it took me longer to recover, made me cough, & hurt like hell when i was healing, made me feel dizzy/weak & wished i had waited longer for that first draw.. made me run to the bathroom & gave me a tummy ache... That was my ordeal...did i listen to anyone? ...No..but wished i had..but that was from a smoker too back then... Now i quit i hope after my lapband op i will recover better & quicker ?....Maybe i will ? maybe i wont ?

    Anyone getting banded in January

Hi Natalie, i too have my NYE outfit ready too, i bought this lovely silver, black glitter type 50's flared skirt, knee length (been years since i wore one that short in public, apart from holidays) i couldnt get the zip all the way up at xmas, just tried it on & not only does it fasten all the way up now, i can twizzle it around my waste.... i started a low fat diet 5 days ago & will be going on the pre-op diet on the 7th Jan, though im pretty much on it now.. Will be having a glass of champagne NYE
  11. This is a sweet picture of you both, its great when we have fantastic hubby's to help us through this journey
  12. good luck for tomorrow, im sure everything will be fine & dandy, & keep us posted on your progress :frown:
  13. I imagine the best person to ask is your surgeon, i think itwould be wise to have some one with you for a few days, if you happen to slip whilst bathing who is going to be there for you in an emergency?, prepare your meals? etc etc

    Anyone getting banded in January

Hi Alison, that sucks...in your original letter was there anything mentioned about exchange rates?.. i guess they can do pretty much what they like as they have you over a barrel.. my surgery is in the UK, i was going to opt for Belgium then i got asked if i wanted it on the NHS & only had to wait 5 months, whats 5 months waiting time out of a lifetime bad habbits? good luck hope there is something you can do or maybe see if they will compromise ?

    Anyone getting banded in January

Hi Natalie, Im from the UK too..LINCOLN..im getting banded 21st Jan too did you not get a diet letter from the hospital? mine consists of: NO FATS/SPREADS/SUGARS eggs = 1 a day milk = 1/4 pint daily 1 slice medium bread all foods weighing 100grams fish meat vegetables cheese cereals = 1 Cereal bar ie.. 1 shredded wheat with milk Water, tea, cofee, diluted orange squash = free flow throughout the day
  18. stay focused, you will get there, & drink lots of hot fluids to keep you full for longer, i am using my treadmill, though i have just done 15 min hardish workout on it & came off feeling very dizzy, so i will reduce it to half & keep busy doing housework, Im just so bothered about catching a cold/flu as people are getting the winter bugs.. is there any precautions i can take to avoid it? apart from hiding :tongue2:

    Terrified of my PreOp Diet

well done steve.. sounds like you are already focused.. oh i forgot to mention i am also allowed 1 medium sliced bread daily too in my pre-op diet
  20. debbie_7155

    Soda

I guess im lucky, i dont like any kind of sodas/fizzy stuff.. is it just the taste you are missing? or the fizz?..how about freezing the drink to make a popsicle ?..will last longer too
  21. I havnt had my surgery as yet, but had many other operations, though it still sounds like trapped gas, as they have to pump you up with surgical gas to operate easier, & my surgeon used to say to me the quicker you can walk/move about after surgery the gas will release quicker, i have had that severe pain in my shoulder before & i am going to do all i can this time round to get rid of much gas as i can quickly but safely In my opinion when some one is in a lot of pain, it is always good to get professional advice, They are the experts not us, we can only tell people of our experiences, its just a call ? good luck & hope its just gas & you will feel more comfortable soon

    Terrified of my PreOp Diet

Everyone's pre-op diet is different, mine consist of : NO FATS/SPREADS/SUGARS eggs = 1 a day milk = 1/4 pint daily all foods weighing 100grams fish meat vegetables cheese cereals = 1 Cereal bar ie.. 1 shredded wheat with milk Water, tea, cofee, diluted orange squash = free flow throughout the day I start mine on the 7th Jan for 14 days, i have already made a bit of a start so it wont come too much of a shock to me

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

Im getting banded January 21st... im so excited & cant wait, it will be nice to hopefully have a better summer feeling a bit slimmer than last year
  24. Hi & welcome to the forum, when in January are you hoping to get banded? im getting banded 21st January, Derby hospital UK, Where are you from ? I have heard its about £3-5000 in Belgium, Im getting mine done through the NHS, have you tried this way? If you are in the UK, I've waited 5 months from day 1 to the surgery date, which is very good in my opinion Let us know what your out come will be..good luck on your journey
  25. jackie you are doing great.. the surgeons know we need help & that is what they are going to do for us, my surgeon told me, NOT to put weight on, but it was OK to stay at same weight for surgery & a BONUS if i had managed to lose some before surgery.. They did tell me if i was to come for surgery weighing 14lbs heavier then they would NOT operate , as i wouldnt have tried to help myself a LITTLE... so give it the BEST you can & im sure you will be FINE..x
