Who was banded at Derby City Hospital?

Thanks Ann, I told hubby i want to take pillows, my quilt, hot Water bottle & my squidly teddy & slippers for the car journey home....he said thats ok luv but where are you going to be sitting :tongue2:... i'd forgot about me.. Im feeling quite a bit better..hopefully by tuesday when i go for my pre op ass they will say i will be fit enough.. saw my GP last night & he seems to think it wont effect my surgery..coughing a little, but i have 10 more days ahead of me yet.. I really dont want them to cancell it, or im going to be waiting weeks/months for another surgery date? Steve i thought about the soup & remembered what kay told me last time, try & stick with the solid foods as when it comes to soup after surgery im going to be sick of it.. Im drinking lots of fluids..my pencilin finishes tomorrow, so im just taking Difflam & ibufophen & going out in the fresh air for little walks & trying to stay positive

    January 21st banders!

im getting banded 21st jan... when i started my pre op diet after few days i too felt nausea, moody, stomach cramps, but this didnt bother me too much as i was pre warned from my dietition to expect these changes
  8. hi, ive just sat for over an hour reading what everyone has wrote, & i am sooo shocked at what that person has eaten?, Firstly im not banded yet (will be 21st jan) so im on my pre op diet & let me tell you i would find it quite difficult to eat a burger, even now i can actually feel my stomach is shrinking, im struggling to even eat the little foods i am allowed on the pre op, I am not hungry at all (thought i would be climbing the walls at this stage) but i was watching my foods prior to the pre op diet, my dietition told me IF i stick with everything they tell me to then it wont be a struggle & i have to agree she is right, im not saying this is right for everyone, im a savoury person not a sweet one, maybe this has made a diff ? The thing i am imagining is...from a burger would come, belching?, gas?, feeling VERY full?, fat/lard from the burger resting in the stomach not digesting properly, & its not a case this person ate one wrong thing it was more?, Me personally thinks this person was not give the right advice, (or maybe they were?) & has clearly chose to ignore it, & was not 100% dedicated to the banding..Maybe the person rushed into having the op without doing any research? hoping for a quick fix? I know for a fact, this is not a magic wand...it is a tool that will be given to me from someone who want to help me, & with guidance of how to use it, I myself will have to operate it PROPERLY in order to make it work sucsessfully. I too am wondering if this thread is a prank? as to why have we not heard from this person? they asked for people's opinion but have not yet replied back to us.. I hope they decide to get help of more understanding about how the band works

    New and already starting crap...

hi & welcome & congrats on your weight loss..Its good to have an opinion of your own, the world would be pretty boring & dull if we all agreed all the time, but im if there is one thing we can all agree on here is, were all here for the same reason & its nice to give encouragement & support where needed... keep up your good work

    UK lady checking in

hi marmite & welcome... my surgery is jan 21st, im too from the UK & ive been through those emotions, im on my pre op diet & the weight is falling off (doesnt help having flu) & im thinking why cant i be like this with my diets?, I dont think there is anything wrong in asking for help esp when we have tried everything else to lose weight, its a tool thats all & were the ones who are still going to have to put in the effort to make it work correctly for us to achieve what we want it to achieve, Stay positive, this is just the begining of your journey, after the surgery just think of what better life you can be leading

    Lap-ban questions.

good luck semone with the surgery, only you will know what will be right for you to eat & drink, but even if you have to give the carbonates up isnt it worth it?, just look at what results you can achieve, im sure if you have been on a diet before you gave alot more up to try & lose the weight?, Talk to your nutrition they will help you out more

Who was banded at Derby City Hospital?

Thanks steve, jut spent 4 days in bed with this flu virus, god ive been so ill with it, hubby took me to docs last night, im on pencilin & a throat spray, i have manage to get on the setee today, im fighting this with what strength i have left,.. My assesment pre op is next tuesday then op following wednesday 21st Jan... Due to the flu & a diet i have lost 9lbs in a week, do you think it will be ok to keep takin things like strepsils & cough medicine as they have sugar in them?, Even Soup isnt on the diet & i wuld love soup right now (who doesnt when they have flu) surely a sall tin of tomato soup would be ok?, it is liquid,& they say soup is the best thing to eat with colds/flu ? I really do not fancy eating anything too hard until my throat is alot better last 3-4 days ive virtually eaten nothing, due to having blisters back of my throat (have been reall run down) ive just started to being able to drink more now, my GP seems to think im going to be ok for surgery still though..

    shrinking liver

ty steve for the pm, will contact her on monday.. on my letter is says this: For 2 weeks prior to your surgery it is recommended that you follow a more restricted diet. This diet is for 14 days ONLY before surgery & should NOT be followed any other time, as it is too restrictive. You may find rapid weight loss on this diet, therefore it is important to drink as much as possible throughout the day.. Recommended Menu: Breakfast = a small bowl of sugar free Cereal with semi milk or 1 weetabix or 1 shredded wheat lunch 1 medium slice of bread or 2 crisp breads/or 1 egg size potato or 2 tablespoons of cooked Pasta or rice with vegetables or salad 100g no fats/dressings with 100g of meat or fish or cheese 50g or 2 eggs boiled or poached dinner same as lunch menu Miscellaneous allowance per day 1/2 pint semi skimmed milk 2 portions of fruit 1 light yoghurt Water, tea, coffee, low cal squash allowed freely ( no more than 1 glass of fruit juice per day) Thats my letter from Derby i got to follow... i know lindsay is on maternity leave, so i will contact the others on monday, cos unless if anyone else is following the same pre-op diet then im worried as to why im not on liquids ??
