im too having bad breath, im 13 days post op now..Im pleased someone has pointed it out as ketosis, also my mouth can taste a bit like metal too.. Its great to know our bodies are using fat for energy rather than food carbs.. in the last 5 weeks ive lost 35lbs & its great seeing a difference
-

my surgeon has me on liquids for 4 weeks (post op diet)..he said its very important NOT to eat solids as this is the healing process & not to over work the stomach muscles as they need to heal properly

Any one else starving ?
debbie_7155 replied to mle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont think this person has done their home work about how the lapband works or the healing side of it..by giving your stomach solids in a liquid stage of healing is very dangerous, you are on liquids to stop your stomach muscles from over working & doing damage..bleeding, stretching the pouch, ripping the stitches etc..& undoing all the hard work the surgeon & other people have put into you having a great tool for you ....sorry if this sounds harsh but what you are doing is very silly & dangerous..im in bandster hell on liquids too but i would never put my life at risk for the sake solid food until i am allowed to eat it If you miss chewing on something try a piece of leather -
January 29th Post-Op CheckIn...
debbie_7155 replied to kristilaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats on your banding..each day gets better & the more you move about truly does help for the pain & swelling to go down & when that happens you will be able to get more fluids in..dont worry about not getting them all in for the time being..just manage what you can but try not to become dehydrated.. -
just arrived in my room

2 days post-op and boy it hurts...
debbie_7155 replied to cindie74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i know you prob wont feel like it, but try & walk as much as you can, keep moving around, it will help..have you tried liquid pain killers? wont get stuck in your throat like tablets can, i must have been one of the lucky ones, i was only sore for cuple days, no pain though, or gas in shoulders, & try to keep sipping water throughout the day this will help with dehydration & diarreaha..good luck, it will all be worth it.. -
its very important to stick with the pre op diet, people have been turned away because of cheating, its not worth the risk..the more weight you can lose the better it is for the surgeon & reduces the fat on your liver to make their work easier for them.. good luck on your weight loss

I was more uncomfortable than in pain, try & walk about, it really does help, i was banded 8 days ago & i now do 3x10 min walking on the treadmill a day as well as walking around the house, its helped me get rid of the gas
-
Didn't get first fill yet
debbie_7155 replied to chriss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats on your weight loss..i was told before surgery if you lose weight regulary without your first fill then they wont do it until you need it, you are not relying on the band as you are doing it yourself..you are doing a great job, well done, be very proud.. -
Today i feel great..i am 8 days post op now, i have lot 30 lbs in weight in the last month..even though i am still a bit swollen i can see the weight coming off everywhere..i am now down to wearing 1 skirt, the others are too big..omg did i say TOO big..yes yes..finally i am being able to say clothes are too big..what a great feeling, I want to stay in this bubble for a long time, i am so focused & so happy :blushing:
-
Just before my surgery i too like everyone else was very scared/nervous..not of the pain as this was my 8th surgery so i knew what to expect afterwards, but was afraid of not waking up... well i did & i am here & i am at this moment extremely happy.. I have so far lost a total of 26lbs from December 28th 08.. I have noticed a difference in my clothes & my boobs have shrunk some too..yeahhh.. It was a rollercoaster journey i mean with emotions..but now i am so focused on this lapband.. I am doing everything the nutrition nurse has told me & so far so good, i cant manage all the required liquids on my post op diet & have spoken to the nurse & she has told me its fine cos i am having sips regulary & i am not dehydrated & when the swelling/bruising goes down i will want to have more..so 3 more weeks on liquids then mashed potatoes & gravy here i come..lol

I have had 7 other operations, 8th incl lap band the other 7 are not related to my lapband, tonsills appendix gall bladder ectopic 3 laproscopies lap band

debbie_7155 replied to Minnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds like what im getting too..mine travels all the way to the band & stops there & i get it in my back too..im 8 days post op..i keep walking & walking..& yesterday i started to use my treadmill again..i got told its gas still ? -
Hi can some one please help me, this might seem a very silly question, for the last few days i have been experiencing a cold, tingling, numbness sensation in my lips (face lips) it comes on like a wave, lasts for a few seconds but can repeats itself for minutes...whats causing it?...theyre not sore, theyre normal..not dry etc..just a bit annoyng when it happens..it happens a handful of times troughout the day... prob such an abnormal person..lol
-
All surgery has risks..going for your pre op assesment tests will help..its not good anyone to discourage you, they should be supportive...maybe your husband is uncomfortable about you having the surgery & preferes you not to have it & is behaving like this?..you both need to sit down together & listen to what you both have to say...there's always pro's & cons with things...If you dont have this surgery you could face dying of so many more risks with your weight..just think how healthier/happier you will be after surgery & seeing the lbs come off..good luck..try not to worry too much

debbie_7155 replied to playhead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
