OH NO Food Funerals, Ive put on weight pre op.
Lynn Cannon replied to fandangle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We all have done the food funerals. I did mine right up until I had to start the prep diet. I gained too - might have been the large cheese with extra cheese pizza I had!!!! It will come off. Be dedicated to the prep diet, very important to get you in the best shape for your surgery. No more tears, you ARE doing this and not alone. -
Does Diabetes affect weight loss?
Lynn Cannon replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there. Don’t know the answer about whether a Diabetic loses weight slower or not. I am Type 2. Had my surgery 08/23/18. My numbers went crazy prior and after my gastric sleeve, up to 13! They had to give me insulin. They said it could have been stress on my body. Including prop I have lost about 28 lbs. Just got my A1C checked and it’s 6.8. Doc is leaving me on 500mg Metformin and will reassess in 3 months and see where my A1C is. You’ve done the right thing and it WILL improve. Remember although we may not have to take medication we will always have the label of being Diabetic. You must reveal this for any travel insurance. -

Restriction - Do you still feel it? Will it always be there?
Lynn Cannon replied to Letgo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, we are very close. My surgery (sleeve) date was Aug 23 2018. Will be 4 weeks this coming Thursday. I am reading other posts and am thinking I need to join a support group and engage in counselling. I hope I can find these supports I need here in Calgary. No one does the sleeve surgery here so I had to go to Toronto. -
The Yo-Yo of LIFE & SLEEVE
Lynn Cannon replied to ChunkyChicTrying's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So glad to have read this thread. So grateful for your candid heartfelt posting Birdie. My take away from this is yes, I’ve had the surgery (Aug 23 2018) and I’m hearing that I need counselling and a support group. I will see what is available here in Calgary. -

Thanks. So like the pain I have about 10 in down on the right hand side of my chest. Often I get this gurgling too. Very loud! -
Restriction - Do you still feel it? Will it always be there?
Lynn Cannon replied to Letgo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dumb question BUT can someone explain what a “restriction” is. -
I’m guessing your bruising is just in the tummy area? If it is anywhere else I would head to the doctors soon. Good luck

Any one go home the same day ?
Lynn Cannon replied to rosie6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wouldn’t push for this. Having all your meds by IV is so important. This is major surgery remember that. You could have complications and need to be monitored. Just my thoughts 🤗 -
I really think people need to get educated before judging. When most of us decide this route we research very carefully and I would venture to say it’s mostly about health. When faced with diabetice, knees, hip pain, risk of heart disease along with a host of other diseases this is often our only choice. You CAN do this and you are on your way. Go girl!!!!

2-days post op - Meds?
Lynn Cannon replied to TakingBackChrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks postop. It’s very difficult! I hope you are crushing your meds - very necessary. Don’t be swallowing whole pills at this point. The med for acid reflux should be a capsule that you can open up. I put the crushed meds on a little yogurt to get it down. You can always call the emergency line for your surgeon or talk to your pharmacist. You are getting rid of the gas from surgery. - will take a while. Take care!!! -
So sorry. Be kind to yourself. Make the best food decisions you can understanding that your only human and are going to slip up. You’ll get stronger but you have lots of love and prayers to get through this sometimes one second at a time.
