For some reason I can eat a small amount of solid foods in the afternoon but if I try in the evening around 5pm it comes back up. It's still a mystery to me but I find myself drinking my protein for energy as well while I figure this out. I have some friends that are about a year ahead of me and they said they went through the same thing and can eat anything with no problem now.

I was on a 6 month high protein low carb diet to shrink my liver and that worked perfectly according to my surgeon. It's best to cut out carbonated beverages and start drinking lots of water. Taper down on the caffeine and start walking at least 30 minutes everyday. Good luck!

I told them what they needed to hear so I could move forward. I've heard of people on here that come back after pouring their souls out to the social worker and getting denied surgery. Just something to think about.

6 weeks out what's going on...
Ed_NW replied to Angel'sFaith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a loss of energy and started drinking a bottle of water with zipfizz to get a blast of B12 and that got me going again. I do a multi with 45 mg of iron and that's supposed to help as well. Lots of water throughout the day, 2 bottles of that being for protein. -
I take these.

If you're taking an extended release med like effexor, your doc might have to up the dosage due to malabsorption.

People rave over the protein chips and it seemed to me that once I chewed them up it was like swallowing protein powder.

I haven't had any pain on the left side. If I consume too much, I will feel discomfort below my sternum. I feel pain on the right side sometimes and that can be my gallbladder which is scary. The left side could just be gas moving out as food or shakes are consumed. All of the sensations are still new to me as well. I'm 7 weeks out.

I put a cap of hydrogen peroxide in each ear and drain well. Vertigo gone. It cleans your ears out pretty good too.

He has a bad rep in other forums, not just this one. I came across a mention in this forum a while back. Check out #8 https://bariatricfacts.org/threads/adding-to-the-confusion-about-what-is-a-ds.5556/

Lenny Kravitz was too cool! I placed him up there with Prince and Jimi Hendrix as far as being a musical icon.

Congratulations! You're looking good.

Insurance Denied Revision - Next Step Peer to Peer

Good for you for being assertive. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. -
That's the best way to do it. That's what shrinks the liver.

Insurance Denied Revision - Next Step Peer to Peer

You should switch to prilosec or something other than tums. I ended up with kidney stones because of the type of calcium in tums. Good luck with the insurance. It always seems like they do things like that to discourage people. -
You've had a lot of bad luck. I hope everything turns around for you and you can get back to just focusing on weight loss. Get well soon!

I like to hear of young people that take charge and turn their lives around like you did at 18. I wasted a lot of years not looking into all of my options when it came to weight loss. Surgery is a drastic step and is not to be taken lightly but it is a valuable tool. Imagine where you might have been now if you hadn't had the surgery when you did. You might consider going back to your surgeons office and getting some tests done to rule out any problems with your new stomach and discuss a plan moving forward. Good luck and congratulations on your progress so far.

Burn sensation when having a bowel movement

I would get some OTC Prilosec while you're waiting for the doctors to figure it out just to eliminate the possibility of excessive acid production. You could chomp on some tums too and see if that makes a difference. -
Blood Pressure Medicine And CPAP Use After Surgery
Ed_NW replied to Trellunit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to quit my BP med a week after surgery. I hope I can quit my CPAP at some point. I know most people have to get the pressure readjusted as they lose weight. -
Anyone taking Cymbalta? How to take Post-Op?
Ed_NW replied to fun_freckles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some surgeons say you can't take extended release medications with gastric bypass because it won't stay in your system long enough to be fully absorbed. I don't think the same applies to people with the sleeve. -
The liquid stage sucks. At least next week you can start grinding up some better tasting food.

I'm happy for you! Your life will be transformed like you never imagined. WLS gives people hope and a tool to better themselves. There's nothing like a supportive family. It makes this journey a lot more doable. Good luck.

Welcome and good luck on your journey!

One of the biggest signs is the inability to stay awake during the day. You might want to at least do an at home sleep study. I was amazed how much better I felt after I got used to the CPAP machine and was sleeping through the night.
