What is your post-op surgeon visit schedule?
Ed_NW replied to Sweettoothless's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

NO, I just dump it in a bottle of water and put the cap back on then shake it up. I open the lid a few times and the fizzing stops. After a minute or so it's flat. It's like drinking water with Crystal light after the magic potion effect is over.

Things To Do During Recovery Period
Ed_NW replied to CeeCee2018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've got Amazon Prime and I'm constantly ordering stuff with the free shipping to justify the cost of the membership. $5 here $10 there. I'm sure all of the package delivery people are like "really, this guy again?"... LOL -
I don't know what your age is (I'm 51) but our surgery dates and other stats are pretty close. I recently started using Zipfizz. I read on another forum that other people started using it after WLS and it made a big difference in their mood and energy level. I started using it and I like it. It doesn't have carbonation like the name would suggest. It's mostly a huge shot of B12 and minuscule amounts of other vitamins. I bought some off Amazon but you can get it almost anywhere. Maybe give that a shot and see if that helps you too.

I've seen this question before and I think they are looking fo something like weight watchers or a diet plan from your doctor that is monitored monthly.

Whatever you do, stay off of Amazon. That definitely can become an expensive compulsion that takes the place of eating. LOL -
Tips and things you wish you would've known
Ed_NW replied to Olive22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After the surgery and for the first few weeks you will be on liquids. I was a huge water drinker and the transition from chugging liquids to sipping little NyQuil cup sized portions was tough. In the hospital, the nurses kept telling me I was doing it all wrong. I was thinking it was a challenge to see how much I could drink. They had me charting my water consumption not to see if I was taking in large amounts but to see if I was doing it at the pace they had set for me. The one thing I was doing right was walking as much as possible. I have always been able to do things in extreme measures but it's the moderation part I have to work on. Good luck with your surgery next week. I hope it is as successful as mine was. -
EKG, some test for tobacco, blood work and general health questions. That's what mine consisted of at least.

Welcome and good luck tomorrow!

I tried a fried egg for the first time today. There was a little discomfort at first but it's staying down as well.

Any of you develop extreme eye dryness??
Ed_NW replied to Chuck Clasik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been experiencing dry eye. I kind of wrote it off to a sinus infection I'm dealing with. It could be related to the surgery. -
This post op weight loss stuff is kind of strange. I've heard that sometimes you will increase calories and that will stimulate weight loss again. Sometimes an increase in water intake will do it. It will be confusing at times but I think the trend will ultimately be downward.

I had RNY on the same day. From what everyone says, it's normal to get your first weight loss stall at 3 weeks.

Vacuum Sealing Machines for Food
Ed_NW replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Heck yeah! They're tons of fun. I vacuum seal everything. You can even vacuum seal clothes you want to store for a long time. -
It's a commercial from the 80's by a company called Life Alert. LOL
-
Good for you man, that's awesome! It is definitely amazing how WLS changes lives.

I just don't discuss it with anybody outside of my house. It's really none of their business. If you have hemorrhoids, does everyone need to know that? No, just get it fixed and move on. Will they notice that you don't need to carry around a doughnut shaped pillow anymore? Maybe but that's what's fun about being a mysterious person. Keep em guessing.

Thank you!!! No problem!!!!!!!!!

I'm not touching this one. Every time I call BS I get in trouble. LOL!

Arm lift - What was your self pay total?

Check out BariatricPalmx. That might end up being a more affordable option. I might have to get some work done too so I can avoid the flying squirrel look. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
Ed_NW replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The wait can seem like an eternity, that's for sure. Congratulations on getting a date. That kind of makes it seem more realistic. -
Such a great comparison. Last year, a crackhead broke into my house and went through me and my families things looking for valuables to pawn to support his drug addiction. I don't think my unhealthy relationship with food compares to the actions of a drug addict. And yes, if the OP without even thinking about it does a line of coke and chases it with alcohol before thinking it might have an effect on their recent major abdominal sirgery, they're an addict not an occasional user. Thanks for minimizing that.

At some point you have to call it like it is. Some choices can be "poor choices" but if you make excuses for criminal choices aren't you condoning that type of behavior? (And yes, it is against the law in Scotland) My whole point was, plenty of people come on here and confess their diet screw ups and get slammed by other members and that seems to be ok. Don't even try saying something derogatory about drug users, all the sudden you'll be public enemy number one.

And what you did was perfectly acceptable Just make sure you sip sip sip afterwards and get that protein in! LOL

Don't worry about it. It's a crazy world we live in when you get crucified for having a negative opinion of someone doing cocaine but look back at how people were lambasted for going against their "team" and eating pizza on this forum. LMAO! Watch all the bleeding heart, put a heroin injection site in our town wackos with their pitchforks and torches come out. Kind of funny how you even chose an avatar that looks like a b***h. Why don't you take a look inward before calling someone an ass.
