I don't even really know... I think my 'ideal' weight is 130, which would mean 150 lbs. But... who knows, I might be feelin' fine at 200. How about you? I think what I'd like more than anything is to be able to wear a size that starts with a 1 !

Hey Cloe! When in March? I'm gettin' my band on the 29th. Maybe I'll wave to you on the way into surgery!

I was just thinking the other day about some of things people have said to me that will always stick with me... one day, maybe 5 years ago, a girl I was going to school with was telling me how this really good looking guy friend of hers told her how he liked hooking up with 'fat chicks', for that very reason. I'd never thought of it before, and have ever since, worrying that that's the reason any guy ever hits on me. Another time, in highschool, I was walking towards a couple guys, and as I passed him the one guys said "slap the fat, and ride the wave" and made a 'wave' motion with his hand. :cry Mandi -
Awesome. I'm glad I could have been of some help! Keep us all posted on what happens! Mandi

actually, I was pretty set on getting the RNY (gastric bypass), and was very turned off by my 3 year wait to just have a consult with the Dr. When I was finally presented with the opportunity to get some help paying for it, I researched like nuts, decided on Dr. Cobourn.. I gave 'em my $200 for the consult (early Feb), and had it by phone a couple days later (cause I'm so far away) and got my date at that time. I was a little disappointed, since it was 8 weeks and not the 4-6 weeks I was told they were booking for. But whatever, it's turned out to be for the best. And it's a hell of a lots better than waiting 5 years. He said that if I wanted it sooner, Dr. Mumford had earlier opening, but I said "No, I'll stick with you." He's the one I'd spent all the time researching, so I thought that would be best. Dr. Mumford sounds great too. Too bad yours isn't closer to my date (or better yet, mine closer to yours!).. it would be nice to meet someone who's gonna be there when I am. Is yours going to be at the clinic too? Mandi

Hey, Paulax, do you know if Dr. Leung will do, or does fills on patients other than his own, and if so, how much he charges? Thanks
-
I don't think Paulax is talking to you, emtbaby4... seeing as where your from is stated just just under your name, and you've already told us about 4 times where and when you're getting banded. Oy. Yeah, Paulax, you should specify who you're talking to when you post, if it's to someone in particular. Don't think it's me, cause I believe I said already.

Oh man. A canadian, banded in Canada, posting in the Canada support page! Craaaaaziness! Hey Cin. I'm in Saskatchewan. I'm at about 6 weeks to go to banding! I'm soooo excited. You should email me or something and tell me all about your experience with Cobourn, and how everything's going so far. and Michele, you are tooo funny.
-
lol ok. How many of you are Canadians, and if you are, are you living in Canada? Cause... that's what I'm getting at with this question. I'm looking to see who fellow Canadians got banded by IN Canada. Thank you anyway though. Mandi

Good stuff guys! Keep it coming! No one banded in Canada though?

Awesome ! You'll have to keep me updated on your progress! Good luck to you too Mandi (and thanks Kati)

Kati, I think Dr. Mitchell should be good. I'm getting banded in March by Dr. Cobourn, and when asking him what I should do if I can't get to HIM for a fill, he told me about Dr. Mitchell (because he's closest). He's not just any doctor who figured out how to do fills. He is a LapBand surgeon, and DOES the lapband, he just can't do it in Alberta, because Alberta won't allow it. (I guess cause they don't cover it) I don't think he does it with flouro, because it sounds like it's just out of his private clinic. Please do let me know how it goes with him, cause I'd be curious to hear how your experience is. Mandi

Hey guys, My name is Mandi, and I am very close to finalizing my decision to get the lapband. I should have a definite decision tomorrow! I'm super excited, and a little scared. I'm 25 years old, about 275-280 lbs. I started gaining weight when I was about 9 years old, and it hasn't let up! Despite many many many dieting attempts, I've continued to gain. Like I'm sure most of you, I dieted and was sometimes successful, but that always ended up with me gaining back my loss and then some. I had originally been dead set on getting the RNY. But, the wait lists in Canada are just not acceptable for me. I know people do it, and more power to them. If I wasn't lucky enough to be able to borrow the money from family, I probably would be waiting too, if not for an RNY, then to save up enough money for the lapband (which probably woulda taken more than 6 years!) I don't want to know what life will be like for me in 6 years if I have to wait. I've wasted so much of my life already being fat, and I just want to get on with things. So after much research, I've decided that 'hey, I guess the lapband really can work for me." I don't really know how much I want to weigh. 140 sounds good, but.. who knows. I've never been 140, at least not as an adult, when 140 is an acceptable weight. I might be just fine at 180. I dunno. We'll see when I get there. So that's about all for me. You may be hearing from me again soon, with a WOOOO HOOOO! Got my consult date! post. Mandi

Hey! I'm actually in SK. I think I am going with Dr. Cobourn in Ontario, he's $15000, but doesn't have the lifetime fills like TLBC. I'm going to have to ask if they give a cheaper price for people who live far away too.. that would be nice.

Cheeringgranny, Who's your doctor in Missisauga? Would it be Dr. Cobourn (or Dr. Tin as mentioned before)? I think I'm going with Dr. Cobourn. Let me know how it goes! Mandi
