looking for a doctor in Edmonton or Calgary
argon replied to andreerichards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me? I'm working on it. All my old pictures are on my PC, and that is in the shop! I should get it back very soon, hopefully tomorrow, and I plan on posting some pictures soon! Have you gone to the before and after pictures on this website yet? -

Well, at least you'll have lots of time to learn and research, if you haven't already! -
I did the same thing, Lila! I went to bed as early as possible, and slept as late as possible (which I could, cause I wasn't working)... to stop myself from wanting to eat!
-
What is a bonnet? LOL Is it something that we only have in Canada? Cause I'm sure I've heard the word elsewhere. That is if we're talking about the 'hat'.
-
coffee never gives me heartburn.... odd. And yeah, the headaches likely are from your caffiene withdrawl. That's weird... maybe it just didn't send for some reason! I'll PM you again later!

Interesting... I didn't think that if you were paying yourself you'd still have to wait. You'll be looking at a long wait, I'm sure. Now that people are finding out that the lapband is covered in Alberta, LOTS of people are getting in on it. You may be in for a lot of hassle just to find out that your province or territory won't cover any of it. You should call Yukon Health, or whatever you call it, and talk to someone personally, just inquiring about whether they cover some or all of it. I did that when I was in SK, and was given a definite NO! -
Nah... that lady won't be able to do them until after November. At that time Dr. C is actually going to be there for it, so.. IF I still think I need a little out, or maybe a TINY bit more put in, I could possibly do it then. At least it's good to know that if I need to, I can always go to her. And Leila, congrats on staying the same weight at least, that's always nice.

Hrrrrrmmmm.... I don't have anything intelligent to say. I get headaches all the time though, and I don't know why or can't blame eating for it. I'll stay tuned to see what everyone says though. btw... hi :girl_hug:

Thanks Wheezy :girl_hug: I would say, yes... if I lived closer, and it would be easy for me to get into the clinic, I WOULD have had them take out just a little bit. Maybe just 0.1 or 0.2 cc's. I still would, even today, if I could. I'd like to be able to eat a little more that I am now. I'm still hoping to work myself into a comfortable eating spot sometime soon that I can sit at for a while.

green, Addition-Elle and Pennington's have been saving MY ass for a while! loreily, thank you! Wheezy, I know, I know.. I should have tried some 18's, but I'm so used to disappointment in trying on clothes, I just didn't want it again!!! It says 59, but it's really 58.6! I've got to lose 1.8lbs a week for the next 14 weeks to be 200lbs by Xmas!

I did actually rip off 0.6 of a flower today! I don't want to round up or down! LOL Yeah, keep on top of that heartburn. I'm not one to be chastising you or anything, so I hope you don't think I was! I've been getting heartburn now and then for the last couple weeks too. :girl_hug: Btw, did you get my PM?!

Yeah, there's only a couple provinces that cover anything for the lapband. 99% of us are in the same boat as you, paying for it ourselves, however we can! Congrats, I hope you hear back from the lady soon! -
I was living in SK when I had surgery in Mississauga by Dr. Cobourn... I planned to go to Calgary for fills. Then I moved to New Brunswick, and I'm kind of on my own. I've needed one fill since, and had to fly to Toronto for the day, to get it... because no one will do my fills. (although, I'll probably have someone in NS in a few months)

Ok, so... the number for Dr. Mitchell in Calgary is: 403-264-6720 Give that number a call, tell them you live in the Yukon, and want the lapband, and are wondering if you can pay for it privately, or if it's only available through Alberta Health. I don't know that you can pay for the lapband in Alberta, or if they're only doing people who are 'covered'. Please let us know what they say! -

But I don't get... why not go to Dr. Leung then? You want a closer Dr. (like in Alberta or BC) that will let your own family Dr. do your fills? -
Ok, so, as of this morning, I'm at 225.4 I don't think I should be all excited with Leila's bad news, so... that's all

You know, I don't think he really has any say in who does the fills. But then you might be making him mad for if/when you have any problems... if you were to go elsewhere for fills. There's a few dr's in Calgary(all working together, I believe), a couple in Edmonton (but I think those ones you can't pay to go to). Someone else will tell you the names of the Calgary guys, I'm sure.. cause I'm in a rush and don't have time right now. Good luck. -
Aww... Leila. I'm sorry. Hopefully you're feeling a little better today, and things go well up to and after your surgery. Make sure you let us know when it will be, so we can send you good vibes that day! You need a "Leila's ____" thread to keep us up to date in... I think  Mandi

I too have big feet. 9.5 if I can find it... last 'running' shoes I bought were 10's. Ugg... I feel your pain. So... Moncton went ok. I couldn't find ONE pair of pants in a size 20! (at old navy) I could have tried an 18, but that's just setting myself up for disappointment. BUT ... I got this cream coloured v-neck sweater and 2 super thin tank tops for underneath. It was an XXL, and still a little tight for me to comfortably wear in public. Those sizes are MESSED up. I'm hoping by the time it's actually cool enough to wear something like that, I'll fit it better! Maybe I'll take some pictures for you guys!

Hey Cloe, I'm doing something that you had said you did... with the colourful, shaped Post-It notes...when you were doing Opti-fast. I thought it was such a good idea, I went out and got some, and now on my bedroom wall, I have 29 pink flowers, to mark down the 29lbs I would like to lose before Xmas! (and with each pound, I'm going to take down one (or even a half of one)) Thanks for the idea!

LOL nice ending! I hope he's ok though! Feeling better now, I hope? Glad surgery went well, besides that little hernia deal-y. He seemed put-off, as in "pssh... I could be making another $16,000 in the time it's taking me to fix this hernia!!" ? Oh well... whatev. Keep letting us know how things go, ok ? Mandi

Good luck swanny! and yeah, let them know you're a little under the weather. They probably won't cancel anything, but they need to know.
-
Uh oh! LOL I'm crossing my fingers for something good! It better be good for how miserable my eating is!

Welcome back Neenagh!
