I agree.. nothing wrong with $13,000. Better than $16,000! But, I don't know/haven't heard too much about him, so I can't comment. I do think it's stupid that they won't just tell you HOW MUCH it is!!!

    Over seas trip

Hmmm... I would wait until you get back from Egypt to get your first fill. I don't know where your nearest airport is, but I imagine you'll be going through Toronto at some point on your way back from Egypt. Maybe you could even schedule it so that you could get it when you get into Toronto after returning from Egypt, you could get a fill, stay in TO for a couple days, and then continue on home. I don't think those dates for getting fills are set in stone, they probably book them ahead of time so you have them if you need them. You don't have to get a fill if you don't need one, but I guess its nice to have the dates in case you do.

You mean Dr. Woodhead? What would the $400 be for? To see Dr. Woodhead, for what?
  4. I dunno Yoda.... it took me a few days before I could BARELY eat... and then a few weeks before I could finally eat more. It doesn't really make sense. I can see having WAY more restriction at first, perhaps from irritation or inital swelling, but yeah, I don't see how you can feel nothing, and then it 'kicks in' after days or weeks.

LOL... yes, the world is safe from seeing my black leather thong! (at least for a few more months )
  7. Start filling it up, guys! Start asking If Dr. McMumford is married, etc! Irish Mist, that's likely why it doesn't seem like you can read any posts - there aren't any (well, a few). If you click on something like 'Post Your Questions Here", and then click 'new topic', it's just like making a new thread here.
  8. LOL... that could be it!
  9. I didn't feel much after my first fill either. I would say give it a couple weeks, and see how it goes.... then book another fill if you need it. But yeah, it could take another fill, or even a couple before you notice anything, who knows. Ragergirl, if she reads this... I believe she said she's got her band maxed now. (well, I think there's the ability to go a little over 4ccs or 10cc's, whatever you have) Don't be discouraged guys, it's gonna pick up, and soon, you'll all be kickin' my ass! I'll be grumbling to Dan, "Wheezy lost another 5lbs this week!!!" LOL
  10. BBcode, and HTML... just ignore that. ICQ and AIM are 'instant messengers' like MSN, ignore that too, unless you have them, and want to talk to people from that message group through them. The VIP secret code they ask for is at the top left of the screen, (when you're typing in that secret code). It's not exactly secret, it's there for anyone to see, but it makes it so jerks can't 'auto-enroll' in the group and post various crap... I think.
  11. P.S. It's something MUCH more like this one, so you guys should like it. It's not a Yahoo group!

What do you think of ...

I'm not sure how far away from TO or Mississauga you are, but I think if you're more than a few hours away, you'd be 'eligible' for the phone consult. The way it worked for me (with Dr. Cobourn), I had my phone consult, got my surgery date, went to Mississauga a day early, met him very briefly (just wanted to know if I had any questions or concerns), and had surgery the next day. I had all my pre-op testing done a few weeks before surgery (with a local doctor), because they needed the results 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Hi katy, Just curious, how are you doing after 4 years? Tell us everything! How much have you lost? How much did you want to lose (or have to lose) :girl_hug:
  15. argon

    Hope

You're asking how long the wait is for surgery, aren't you? For me, with Dr. Cobourn, it was exactly 8 weeks from my phone 'consultation'. I'm sure someone else who went with TLBC (Joffe/Yau) will correct me if this is wrong, but I think it's about the same with them... 6-8 weeks.
  16. Glad to hear about your FIL, Yoda... good news :girl_hug: Don't you worry about the no one noticing thing either... I feel your pain! LOL It could also be a matter of people just not knowing what to say, or how to bring it up. Who knows. And yes, congrats on hitting and passing the 50lb mark!! YAY!!!! Mandi
  17. Hey Wheezy, I think what he said about the Ottawa thing, is because he wants to still be 'in charge' of you. Even though you're going to someone else for fills, he still wants to have a say in it, and probably in how much of a fill you get. This guy in Ottawa probably doesn't know the band like Dr. M does. He did just learn to do fills, right? So I'm sure this isn't his specialty. Dr. C kind of said the same thing to me, when I discussed going to Calgary for fills. Just that they would still be 'in charge' of my fills, and keep track of them, etc. For example, if you're going to Ottawa for fills, Dr. M's office isn't always going to be on top of how much you have in your band, etc. If you keep going to another Dr. getting fills, and maybe de-fills, then for some reason had to go back to Dr. Mumford, he wouldn't have a good record of your history. I hope that I made sense. I don't think they're going to be difficult about you getting fills elsewhere, they probably just want to know about it, and advise Ottawa-guy how much to give you.

What do you think of ...

Yeah, that's it. If you look through the posts here (among the canadian posts), anyone who says TLBC did their surgery was done by either Dr. Yau, or Dr. Joffe, his associate. So, yup... there's lots of 'em here. (I'm sure you'll hear from them in the morning!)

LOL ... not yet! I'm not at skinny bitch status yet! And ok, ok... I won't cut my own hair. I'm getting more 'ok' with it how she cut it. I can live with it for a while, until next time. I actually DID show her a picture of what I was thinking of, and she more or less said that "I know what you mean... I'll frame your face". 'cept, the picture was of a girl with fairly long, blunt, fully across the forehead bangs... I said I liked that... but more 'wispy'. Whatever. So... good news on the Xmas front. My parents have graciously offered to buy my ticket for me for my birthday (next month).... AND, pay a good chunk of Dan's ticket cost for him to go home also (as a Xmas present to him). Soooo, now he's got to figure out how to get together the rest of the money, or I have to be nice, and help him with that cost also. Hmmmm... Hope you guys are having a good weekend! Talk to ya later :girl_hug:

    Canadian Thanksgiving

Whoops, how did I miss this? I was looking for somewhere to brag about my Thanksgiving. Originally, Dan and I just planned to make ourselves a little dinner..... but that friend of ours doesn't have anyone here, and I didn't think it would be right, leaving her alone for Thanksgiving. So we invited her. I got a little ham, just enough for the 3 of us. I made my favorites: stove top stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy. She brought over caesar salad and garlic bread. I made a concious effort to drink HOT tea just before... and even a couple sips DURING, cause I wanted to make damn sure I could eat my stuff! Well... I ate ALMOST all of what I took. I didn't get to eat more than 2 bites of my ham, just because everything else was too good, and I left it for last. I was very proud of my ham... it turned out reeeally good. I thought it would be really dry, being in the oven for 3 hours, but it wasn't! WOO! Yay for me, cooking my first real 'dinner'. Well... Thanksgiving dinner. Then.... maybe an hour minutes later, I even had a small piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Yummy! A turkey would have been nice... but waaay too much work for me, and probably way too much food. Oh well...

    Argon's Activities

Thanks neenagh I spoke too soon. I tried on this sweater at Cotton Ginny (who suggested that? I finally gave them a chance!) yesterday, but we were in a hurry, so went back today. I grabbed ANOTHER pair of 18's, just to see if it was really true, and I liked them. Dan said if *I* bought the sweaters, he'd buy me the jeans. (but only if I got the medium (plus size), not the large like I wanted) Sooooo... I sucked it up, and bought the medium, even though I think it's too tight. I guess it'll loosen up eventually. So yeah, I finally got some size 18 jeans. I like them, and they look alot less foolish with my snazzy new shirts than my baggy-butt other ones! Also got my hair cut. Last minutes decision, I decide I want bangs. I've NEVER had bangs, but I wanted them. I told the lady what I wanted, and it sounded like she understood... but kept saying how she'd 'frame my face'. Well anyways, I walked out VERY unhappy, with my hair curled (but only half, cause she said that looked good) all crazy, encrusted with SO much hair spray, and a little close to tears. I just can't tell people (hair dressers) that it's not exactly what I had in mind. I gotta get over that. It's not bad, but they're not they type of 'bangs' I wanted. More like 'feathered' around my face. I wanted the 'brush a chunk of the hair at the front of your head, forward that covers your forehead' thing! This is the kind of bangs that are to the sides of your face.... like out-grown normal bangs. I'm almost tempted to try to cut them a little more like I wanted to... but that's scary.

    Argon's Activities

Hi guys, hope you're all having a good weekend so far! I just had to share a little bit of excitement that happened yesterday. Dan and I went to Walmart after work, cause he wanted to look for some DVD. I wandered off to the clothes section, and grabbed a pair of dress pants, in an experimental size.... and went to try them on, just for the hell of it. Well.... they fit. And what size were they? *drumroll* an 18 !!! :omg: I didn't buy them, of course.... or any pants. I SHOULD, cause I neeeeed some, but I'm holding out. I'm still wearing some that are 26's, 24's and my most recent purchase, the 22's. Funny thing, as we were walking into Walmart, and I was hiking up my pant for the millionth time that day, I said "UGGGG.... I hate my clothes". And Dan said "Why?" ... and I caught my self saying (with a sigh) "All my pants are too big". I had to laugh (and so did he), cause that's NEVER been a problem before. Who am I to complain? I'd rather have my pants falling down more and more every day, than them getting tighter and tighter. Also... I have ONE belt. It's a crappy belt, it came with some jeans I bought long ago. But it's my one and only belt, and it's been getting alot more use. When I first got it, I had to wear it on the last, or 2nd last notch. (those have a LOT of wear, all stretched out and torn) Then at one point I lost some weight, and was so excited, I made a mark on it cause I could wear it at the 3rd notch, and I wanted to 'mark the occasion'. NOW... I'm on the very last (of 6) notches!!! Woo!
  24. Hi Yoda, just wanted to say I'm sorry about Mr. Yoda's dad too, and I hope things work out ok... and that your Thanksgiving goes over ok, even with the problems
