Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
argon replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey guys, My first before and after picture posting. The one on the left is me tonight, and the right is me about 4 years ago (my ID photo), and I wasn't even at my highest. Probably only maybe 250-260 there.. this is a good comparison picture for me, cause I don't even really believe I looked like that, EVER! -
Ok, so I was gonna take a picture of my scars to show you what they're looking like 6+ months out, then decided just to take a picture of myself with the same blank stare that I have in my ID picture.. and I did. I wanted to compare my ID picture with what I look like now... and here it is. Apparently I looked like this at one point (back in 2002 when I got this ID pic taken... at maybe 250 lbs. Who's excited? LOL!

My fill last time was painful... BUT it's because of all the pushing and poking the nurse(s) had to do. I had the nastiest bruise ever.... black and blue. The needle isn't bad, it's the wiggling around with it in your stomach they (might) have to do, and that pushing to find your port. Maybe your port isn't as deep as mine, and that won't even be an issue.

Cool... you'll have to let us know how it goes on tuesday! I was at the grocery store, stopped at the pharmacy, and asked the pharmacist what Wellbutrin looks like (for size comparison), he brought out some of the 'SR's and they were quite big. Then I asked if he had XL's, which he did... showed me, and I think they're doable. They seem to be the same size, but probably twice as thick as my thyroid pills. So... I'm gonna do it. I at least know what I'm talking about if I ask for XL instead of SR. I'll have to do this Dr. thing probably within the next couple weeks, cause I need some prescriptions refilled, and only have enough to last that long. I'm almost excited. I hope they do they trick.

Thanks everyone who's commented so far. Green, do you know if you can still get Wellbutrin SR? What are you going to do, if you can't swallow the ones you're taking now at some point?
-
LOL, sorry... I'm an idiot. You can still try that, but I won't be able to help you if that doesn't work! I didn't realize I was posting in the TLBC message board post, and not the Cobourn one! Whoops!

Hmm... where you would enter your username and password, look for somewhere you can click 'forgot my password', it'll ask for your username and email address, and then either send you a new password, or remind you of what yours is. If that doesn't do it, let me know, and I'll contact the admin or moderator for you, ok?

I've tried the patch at least 4 times in the last year... I definitely don't need anything else impeding my sex drive!

did you get an email that you had to click on a link to 'activate' your account?

Cloe, you should have an email waiting for you, let me know what happens. -
I totally agree with all this. Food has lost (alot of) its appeal to me. Sometimes I want it, some times I could care less, and only eat cause I should. Sometimes it feels like its more trouble than its worth. I almost feel like I need to eat only the best tasting stuff, cause I have so little of it, it better be damn good! I had a huge craving for toast with peanut butter the other day... I took a couple bites, it wasn't going down too well, so I licked the melted peanut butter off. :omg: LOL

I know, I know... it's my dirty secret. I'm so good, Dan didn't even know for quite a while.

I'm workin' on it! You should be getting a new password sent to you soon, Carey/Cloe. And if that still doesn't work, I'll tell you what you need to do! -
Thank you guys, I'll let you know how it goes next week! I'm proud to say I didn't weigh myself this morning! Woo!

Thanks green Something I'm curious about, is the actual size of the pills, cause I'm worried that since they are not supposed to be broken, I wouldn't be able to swallow them. (I have to break in half tylenol tablets, and they still get stuck.. even tried biting it in thirds last night, and same problem) Have you ever been on the Wellbutrin SR? Is that any smaller? I would rather take 3 pills a day than one huge one once, and deal with that discomfort for half an hour. But then again, if the SR's are almost the same size and can't be broken either... I'm screwed. I don't even know if SR's exist anymore anyways... I actually tried Zyban a few years ago, and although I stopped taking it after a few weeks, (cause it didn't feel like it was helping), I quit(smoking) a week before quitting Zyban, and stayed quit for a couple years after that. Not sure why I started again... I went home for Xmas one year, stole one from my mom, and then it began. Not that I should be shopping for anti-depressants based on their size, or if I can break them, etc, but do you know of any kinds that may be easier to take? It would be nice to have the benefit of helping me quit smoking and being a anti-depressant all in one, though. Hmm...

Oh c'mon... is everyone trying to top me now?! LOL Fine! I wish I'd been BORN with the band!

Are any of you guys on Wellbutrin? I'm not, but I think I want to be. I want to go to a doctor... and I want to ask for Wellbutrin. (for my mental health as well as to quit smoking, because I believe Zyban and Wellbutrin are the same thing) Anyone? Feel free to PM if you don't want to say it here, and if you can help me out. I also need some help in how I'm going to approach the doctor with this. I've 'wanted help' for a really long time, and the one time I got up the nerve and asked, I was brushed off, and got nothing at all. :think Keep in mind, I will be having to go to a walk-in clinic, and see a doctor who's never seen me, and likely won't ever again, or at least won't be considered my regular doctor.

Were the people you know of in Whitehorse banded by TLBC too? I'd do that then... actually... I would go to THEIR family doctor(s) instead, since they must already know what their doing. I'd rather have someone who's done it even just a few times that have my doctor learn/practice on me. Just for the hell of it... why don't you contact Dr. Cobourns office and just ASK if they have anyone in the Whitehorse area who does fills. They're getting doctors/nurses all over the place now.. I might even have one (closer) soon! Woo!

Thank you guys
-
How far is Calgary for you? Wherever you go, if Calgary is closer, you could always get fills there too.
-
Despite any issues I've had (with are really nothing), I would do it all again. I wish I had FIVE years ago.
-
p.s. both places do that TLBC with Joffe and Yau, and The Surgical Weightloss Center with Cobourn and Mumford.
-
Yummm... sounds good. I do the same 'kind' of lasagna, but I add mushrooms, cottage cheese, and reg. cheese, not feta or ricotta... but I think I may try next time, at least the feta. Mmmmm.. Whoah... wait, I just read the rest! You roll it up?! Crazzzzzzy! But intriguing

Hey guys! I need some good vibes for the next week, to get me to 70lbs gone! I'm 0.2 away, and I am PROMISING I am not going to weigh myself again until next wednesday. What my next mini goal will be is: 72lbs, BECAUSE that will be my halfway point. Whoop whoop!!

do you have a 'junk mail filter' or folder that maybe it went to? If it's not there, I can message the moderator and ask her to send you something, like a reminder, or something.
