Oh man, oh man. My March goal, which will also end up being my ONE YEAR BANDIVERSARY, will be to get back to my damn pre-defill weight and/or AT LEAST 100lbs lost.... cause I ain't able to say 100lbs lost anymore. But I'm not changing my ticker!!!! Noooo way! I'll change it when I'm less than it says!
-
You'd probably be just fine with what they give you, and they'll make you hang around to be sure everythings good. If you're weird like me, and are suddenly tight after a few days, it's not like you're out in the boonies (me) and can't get help! BUT... you'll be fine! Tell 'em your worried, and maybe they will be a little more conservative with you
-
That's crazy. I wonder if they'd be able to do fills on the weekend? They really SHOULD do that anyways... it would be so much more convenient for lots of people.
-
Awww Neenagh! Look at me! I'm getting a fill on Sat, and I'm still gonna make a goal for March! I don't know what yet, and I think I'll wait til tell everyone til a few days after the fill, to tell how it's working first. When's your fill coming? C'mon... how about 4lbs?
-
Hey Mommy! Good choice, and congrats on your upcoming date. I was banded while living in SK as well.... do you have someone in Regina to do fills, or has Dr. Mumford said that there will be? That would be great. Doddie, you should tell Buffie to come tell us herself how great she's doing!! We wanna hear from her too
-
Not too late! Give it a try and see if you feel better!
-
I hope they post some pictures on the website or message board... I must see! It really makes me sick to think of the money some people make... uggg... why didn't I use that 10 years to be a Dr.!?
-
Neenagh! I feel your pain with the pants. I put on some freshly washed jeans this morning... and... it was a bad feeling I haven't had in sooo long. They WEREN'T LOOSE! Lucky I didn't get rid of anything yet.
-
Andrew, nope, my partners a shorty (well, less than 6'), so I should be safe. Dame! You must tell me stuff! Do the slats seem sturdy enough? I guess if I was prepared to sleep on a mattress on the floor, I shouldn't worry about it being less comfy without a boxspring... but... do you think it would be ok? EEE! You've got me excited. There's a 'support' bar or something down the middle length, right? are there any middle support bars? I'm always worried that the bed'll just snap right in the middle and we'll fall through!

Yes... good idea with Winners AND Costco. Don't have one in my town, but about 1.5 hrs away. I'll check it out. I'm thinking about maybe not going all out with the computer, and getting an actual bed. Hmmmm... tempting. Found this one for $299.... but then again, if I were going to do that, I should be smart and pay off my couch set first. Hhhmmmmph! (plus, those crazy Ikea beds come with the wood slat thingies, so you don't need a boxspring)

Oh, guess what else?!?!?! This guy who's moving to Vancouver... well, he's the same guy who's Japanese girlfriend (err... fiance, I mean) was recently deported. At least he'll be closer to her until she is able to come back to Canada. Anyways... they bought themselves a KING size mattress a couple months ago, and won't be able to bring it to Vancouver, sooooooo..... YEAH! Goodbye crappy futon, hello, king size mattress on the floor! Maybe I can find some cheap twin boxsprings to use, but for now, I'm quite alright with this! Ooooh... the luxury, going from a double futon to a King size mattress ... I'm drooling already. I love to sprawl out when I sleep. Only thing I'll have to worry about is getting some sheets! King size are expensive!!

Hey neenagh! I am definitely an eating machine also. I got a wisdom tooth pulled on friday, so I can't eat as BAD of stuff as I'd like! (yet) I would have had my 4th (5th and 6th) outtings at Subway this weekend if I could have. But I like my subs spicy, and wouldn't like that getting into the cavity that once housed my wisdom tooth! I should be getting 1cc next weekend. Not sure how I should go about it. We've got a friend who just got a job in Vancouver, and this coming weekend will be his last one here... he's Dan's newest best friend, so Dan'd like to do something/spend some quality time with him before he goes. PLUS next weekend is Dan's birthday. It's a 4 hour drive to get to where I have to get the fill. Soooo... I'll be making Dan drive with me for 8 hours, on his birthday and also the last weekend he has with his bud. Not sure what else to do though. I NEED to get a fill. I can't keep eating like this! I don't know if I've gained... but I'm sure of it. I'll weigh myself as usual on Wed.... or maybe not. I should wait til the wed. after the fill. Guess I should be curious to see how much damage can be done in 2 weeks. :faint: Perhaps we'll get up VERY early that Sat. morning, head to NS, get my fill and come back. That's all I can do, I suppose. hehe I'm hoping to get my income tax refund next week, and order my wonderful computer as soon as that happens. I'll post pictures of us together... on the beach, skiing, and all that. For now, here's a taste:  Oh yeah... Dan got a raise... FINALLY! He's been waiting for his 'evaluation' for almost a month, and finally got them to do it on Friday. He stuck to his guns, but didn't get as much as he wanted (which was actually $12,000 more than he was currently getting LOL) .... but he got $6,000 more a year. Pretty good, I think! I'm a little jealous :heh:

No, I wouldn't say I've had any problems. (ok, some might think the defill was a problem, but I don't)
-
You have an appointment for an adjustment to get MORE of a fill, or to have it removed? I'd recommend the 2nd! Get it ALL out, take a couple weeks off, then next time, don't let him give you 1.2ccs, let alone the 1.5 HE wants to give you! You got 0.75 the first time, why not again? I got 1cc my first fill, and I just got completely defilled a week-ish ago (due to almost the same symptoms you have right now). I will get my next fill hopefully next weekend, but I will only get 1cc (even though I was last at 1.5)... and take 2 fills to get back to where I was prior to the defill. (for the record: first fill was 9 months ago, 2nd fill was about 6 months ago... and none since until recently I got sick, puked, inflammed too much, and needed the defill)
-
I'm finally in the 100lb crew! (probably won't be for long after a defill, but I will ignore any gains I have until I get a fill again!)
-
Maybe you'll end up being one of those people Doddie... but probably not! Things will change. You'll either start being able to eat alot more, stop losing, or start getting really hungry, then realize, it's time! Congrats on doing so well so far though, I hope it keeps going so well Mandi

Astrotoes ---> Glad you've snapped out of it! hehe Sherry, sorry... this lady is someone trained by Dr. Cobourn for his Maritime patients, who otherwise had no one near-ish by. You're gonna have to buckle down and drive all the way to see Dr. B, just like we'll have to drive all the way to see 'fill-lady' Too bad we can't switch!
-
Astro: don't worry about it. You're about the same distance from the NS fill lady as I am. I wasn't deathly afraid about having to get the defill, and absolutely would have driven to see her, had the hospital not been able to do the defill for me. (I was just concerned because of the recent snow storms, and driving somewhere I'd never been... but I would have!) I too questioned whether I should have mentioned it. But like Loriely said, people need to know that there ARE bumps, and it can happen easily. I COULD have gone and gotten gravol suppositories... and I think I WILL, now. I was stupid, and didn't think anything like this would happen. Look at me, I've coasted on the same fill since august...I'm sure everyone hated me for having things so easy for so long, and here I am, unfilled now, and probably gaining waaaay faster than I lost! Things happen... it's not even an issue for me. Don't worry. I wasn't. I lived in Saskatchewan, and got it done in Ontario! The closest place I had to go for fills or defills was 8 hours away in Calgary, and I didn't think twice. No worries! (also... its nice to know that I DO have this lovely little Visa lying around, and since I've done it before, I know how easily I can fly to TO for just the day, for a fill. It's a little extreme, but it is an option also.)
-
I had my surgery while living in Saskatchewan. I had it done in Ontario by Dr. Cobourn (see the link in my signature). PM me if you want. There was another lady, Buffie, from Saskatoon, who was banded not too long ago, but apparently she dropped off the face of the earth! Glad you found us here
-
I'm shutting my mouth until I discover how much I gain with this defill. :phanvan
-
(loriely: I just have receipts, that's it. I claimed something like $17500 in medical expenses, which included surgery, Optifast, and 2 trips for fills. I just checked "My Account" online, and my return has been assessed, and it said that my refund would be exactly how much ufile.ca told me it would be... now for it to appear in my bank account so I can order my computer! I've saved everything, JUST in case I get hassled by the government. Cross your fingers!)

Thanks Doddie. I really don't have any secrets or hints! Cross your fingers, and do what you can. Eat as healthily as you can, try not to drink with meals, drink lots of Water, Protein first, and get working out sooner than later. Everyone says these same things though. I don't know why I'm doing so well when other people who are way more strict (and harder) on themselves are struggling. You're doing great already... keep it up -
(just for the record, I've never heard any talk of knock off bands, nor have I ever heard a claim from Dr. Cobourn or anyone that he was the first in Canada or Ontario to do banding. I don't think he would say that, being as most people KNOW that it was Joffe/Yau (along with Leung, right?) that were the 'pioneers', and it's not exactly well kept secret. If you got that from talking to anyone, it was probably a complete misunderstanding. Also, if you really truly believe that you were told those 2 things, I'd ask Dr. C in his own message board, and I'm sure it would be clarified.)
-
haha... trust me... those subs are bad news! I wish I'd had a little bit left in. At least you took care of it, and will be feeling 100% soon! Take care, Mandi

yeah, that's a little confusing. Actually when I got it done it was for a year, then switched to for life, and now (last I heard) is only 5 years. I don't really care which it is. I will probably rarely get fills/defills at the clinic. I'll post the question on their message board and ask for a current and clear answer.
