Beginning of Abdominalplasty/Breast surgery
argon replied to foodstampchamp's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Update! Update! -
That's pretty close to exactly what happened to me. Complete defill for about 2 weeks. You will be amazed at how much better you feel IMMEDIATELY!!! Why are you having to wait for so long to get the defill?! Good luck, and yes, I am now SURE to have Gravol suppositories on hand to avoid that again. Be careful enjoying the defill too much! I gained 9lbs in those two weeks, but boy, was it fun!

their website used to list "Our Doctors", but now it just says "Our Doctor", so I imagine they just have one for now, Dr. Yau.
-
I can't remember where I heard this (on LBT for sure though), but I've been thinking of it more and more these days: "I lost my boobs, but I still have the bags they came in." LOL, I think it's hilarious, but, uhh.... not! :phanvan I think even more than some kind of lower body lift type deal, I'd love some nice boobies! Nah... if there were a way to get 'em both at the same time, that would be a dream come true. I'm still young, I have time to have the body I've always wanted, and enjoy it for a while! Shouldn't I have that? I never had a period of time that I looked good and flaunted it... so why not now?! Bah! I dunno.
-
oh yeah, I'm suuuuure you'll notice something. My first fill wasn't GREAT, but it definitely made a difference.
-
Hey guys, what's up?! Who remembers Woody's/Carol?! ALLLLL of you, I know! While perusing the boards, which I almost never do, I came across, on the GENERAL board, a thread by one "Woodys", who just happened to have reached her goal a couple days ago! click here -----> http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ive-reached-goal-34972/ go give her sh!t for not telling US! I just did! *pout*
-
CAROL! Goal!? and pictures!? Geesh, what's goin' on!? You don't post for months, then don't even come and share you meeting goal with us in the Canadian area?! I'm hurt
-
nope, nope, it wasn't the CC&Y that did it... I credit the latest fill. I haven't been feelin' the greatest lately, and using that as an excuse to not got to the gym for the last week or so. But I was back at it today... if I keep doing what I say I'm gonna do, I'll be going 3 times a week (1.5 hrs, about).
-
you're doin' good Susan... a little indiscretion (the WHOLE frozen yogurt) but not the worst you coulda done! (*cough cough* stay away from the Haagen Daaz vanilla Swiss Almond!)
-
Wheezy, I don't ever recall gettin' the full dish on you! I think I recall talk of you having kids... how many, how old.... tell us stuff about you! And yes, that's definitely irritating about the fill. Andrew, I hear ya. I don't even want to follow the state of WLS coverage anymore, for fear of hearing things like that. I can guarantee though, the wait would STILL be years, and now that it's made front page news, it's only gonna get worse. You know there's TONS of people who had no clue that the lapband even existed, and now they do, and it's covered, they're gonna be alllll over it. You made the right choice. Just like me. Right? Right!?

hehe, you say that like it's the "old fashioned way"! Not all of us have the luxury of having anytime access to the flouroscopy machine, so we gotta take our fills 'free hand'! I honestly don't think having it done by flouroscope would make any difference for people who have delayed reactions (tightness) after a fill. If you can drink and drink and drink fine right after your fill... even thick liquids, that shouldn't be much different that drinking the barium during the flouroscope. I'm sure people still experience overfilling, even getting their fills under flouro. (and I'm gonna look around on here to see if my suspicions are true!)

www.unjury.com sells samples as well. I think everyone should at least give their 'unflavoured' a try.
-
Welcome Kwalla/Andreea You made a good decision, and you're in good hands here and with Dr. Yau!
-
Wow, what a pain in the ass! You should be sure to tell Dr. Cobourn (or were you done by Dr. M?) about this crap, so they can make sure that these people who are reflecting on the SWLC don't continue to pull this sh!t. So I take it you're not feelin' too much from the fill?
-
(just in case you're thinking I'm a jerk, I only didn't post the link to the TLBC cause I assumed she'd known about it because she'd been there?! Not a jerk! I'm not!)

Should I be concerned about diet & Exercise NOW?
argon replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely, and as much as I hate to say it... get used to it. Strive to avoid it! But it almost certainly will happen again, and your responsibility will be to do whatever you have to to avoid it, and figure out why it happened! Maybe you didn't puree it enough, maybe you took it too much at one time... maybe it has spinach in it, and that's something you can no longer tolerate (I say spinach specifically, cause thats something I put in my lasagna!)... who knows. It's gonna take some trial and error. When it happens, your best bet is to just try to wait it out. Walk around, jump up and down, bend over, whatever happens to work for you to 'unstick' that stuff and make the pain/discomfort stop! (short of vomitting, you don't wanna do that!) And anyways, Welcome! You're new! -
Oh my, you've got alot of posts asking the same question! I hope eveyone just picks this one! If you're in the Toronto area, I'm sure you're only gonna hear raves about the TLBC and the SWLC (www.lapband.ca). The SWLC/Dr. Cobourn is who I went with, and I'm more than happy with it. I'd give them a visit and decide who you feel more comfortable with. Good luck!

hehe, I think it is the fill doing the trick now! That CC&Y helped a little, but I couldn't stick with it long!

Soft Serve Frozen Yogurt
argon replied to susansilver's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
hehe, Yoda, that's why I never asked! There are some really good 'frozen desserts' out there. I am in love with Breyer Smart Scoop. You should try it. I've got some 'Fat Free' double churned, chocolate something or other in my freezer right now. 100 cals for half a cup?! Sounds good to me! -
yeah, I don't think that would get you turned down. They MAY not be able to do it laparoscopically though. I guess it would depend on what stomach surgeries you've had. I saw someone on here asking if she'd be eligible, because of some kind of thing she'd had done because of some kind of stomach problems she'd had (haha, vague, I know!), and she was told that most likely she wouldn't be a candidate for the lapband. I'd contact whomever you're thinking of going with, and asking if whatever surgeries you've had would make you an exclusion.

I'd say yes. Whether your dr. would or not... I don't know. Personally, I wouldn't ask! (and didn't!) -
I think those 2 things would be the RNY and DS surgeries... the VBG is referred to as stomach stapling, I believe.
-
Ok, I believe they're talking about the VBG, and I don't think there IS anyone in Canada doing them anymore. (but really if anyone knows otherwise, do tell!) But that doesn't really matter, I'm sure your provincial health care (like everyone else in Canada) covers other bariatric surgery, such as the RNY or DS (which I think the only guy in Canada doing them, in Saskatoon, is no longer doing them). Even if there was anyone doing the VBG in Canada, the waiting list would be YEARS just like it is for the RNY. Fact is they don't cover the Lapband, that they cover one and not the other is the point you want to argue!

My Dr. wasn't supportive. I never saw her after that time I mentioned it. "That's for REALLY big people.", and "You just need to stick to 1200cals a day." and "Weight Watchers!? Of course that wouldn't work, they let you eat too much!" I left crying, and never saw that 90lb ho-bag again. Luckily I didn't need her approval or referral. The Dr. I had to see for the pre-op tests/physical was just a clinic Dr., and I doubt he had any idea what I was getting it done for, nor did he care. It's too bad, I would have like to have someone supportive and interested in keeping track of numbers and such. I have no idea how my levels of so-and-so have changed, and prob. will never get to know.
