Actually... most of us had surgery in Canada! You've wandered into the part of LBT where the Canadians dwell!!! hehe Honest mistake, and you're new, we'll let it slide. Welcome to LBT! (you can tell where you are by checking at the very top of the page, it'll say something like so: LapBandTalk.com - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Discussion and Lap Band Support > Local Lap-Band Support Groups > Canada Local Lap-Band Support )

Congrats on the 5 lbs Leslie, that's awesome!

Mmmmm steak. I've successfully eaten steak... it's possible! I'd like to give it another go sometime soon though. A big fat steak with peppercorn sauce.... yumma! What are you guys doing to me!? I think every post I've made tonight has ended up with me in a food fantasy! -
Ditto what Wheezy said, Susan. Take your time and heal up for when you get your first fill, and the losin' begins! All this talk of Beans is making me want to give refried beans another shot! I'd like to make a little dip with some... yummmm... dip. Can I have nachos and cheese sauce with it? Leslie: your son sounds like a sweetie. Awwwww...

It is definitely for after! Try to get all your Protein as 'real' food, but if you have problems getting enough with real food, then turn to Protein shakes. (and if its the Optifast shakes you're talking about, that's just a different kind of pre-op diet that some of us have to do )

Yeah... we know the feelin'. Those jerks in Alberta have got it all. Don't worry about it, perhaps all you go through to pay for it yourself will make you appreciate it all the more?

Hi! Oh Yoda: I was stuck for a looong long time too. Don't you fret. You *were* a light weight after all. hehe Donna: I'm not too sure. I think if I'd gone back sooner, like a week or so, I might have got the defill for free, but I'm going there expecting to pay Maybe I'll get a pleasant surprise? The problem I was having at night, which I was trying to aleviate by stopping eating earlier and earlier, was stomach fluids creeping back up my esophagus while I was sleeping, which led to me inhaling and choking on it. Not a nice thing to wake up with. I hoped things would loosen up, and it would stop, but, it hasn't, and it's not a good thing to try to live with, so... I'm bitin' the bullet and going for the defill. Honestly guys, if it were easier, I would be Dr. Cobourns MOST annoying patient. I'd be getting the tinnnniest fills, and defills (if needed) all the time, til I got to a good place. But since it's so difficult, I try to live with less than optimal conditions. Don't be like me! susan: hehe, I'm glad you enjoy hearing the good AND the bad! Really, the bad hasn't been all that bad, and nothing that makes me regret anything. Wheezy: I KNOW! It IS crazy. I have always hated running. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I think I can love it! Things HAVE changed... dresses, the 160's, running, capri pants.... it's a whole new world! Leslie: Thank you! I hope I DO love it! I sent an email to the Running Room I'll be going to, and asked some silly questions, and about the return policy was one of 'em! Thanks for lookin' out for me!! Bad news: I discovered the most amazing fudge at a local bookstore/coffee shop. Vanilla Skor?! Ahhhhhh... someone hold me back! :faint:
-
Thanks Leslie I will actually get the chance to go to the Running Room this weekend, as it happens. I'm going to get the tiniest waste of money/time defill on Saturday, I think. I guess it's not a waste if it makes stops what my problem is (same as Lila, aspirating into my lungs whilst sleeping).... cause that ain't fun. I've been tight since my last fill, and I've been hoping that it would stop, but I no longer think its a good thing to wait out, and am just gonna go get it taken care of. I figure..... if I start this crazy running like I plan, that should help me lose, I hope. AND I think if I'm a super crazy insane runner I wanna be, I'll want/need to eat more also. Right?! So yeah, defill, but check out the ticker! I broke into the 160's! (hopefully I stay there!)

hmm... well, is there any truth to what I have heard about men having their belly fat BEHIND the abdominal muscles, where we have ours on the outside? If so, it would make sense that we have all the fat to poke through to feel our ports, while guys only have the skin? (but then again, it wouldn't make sense why so many other of these ladies can see THEIR ports!)
-
I don't know what's wrong with you guys, but I was never able to see my port stickin' out, and I still can't! Weirdos! hehe
-
Jojo, do you mind me asking how much you're wanting to lose? If you don't have much to lose, then the pre-op diet isn't as important for you (because you wouldn't have as 'fatty' of a liver as me, for example, who had 140lbs to lose). Congrats, and good luck with your big day! Mandi

Thanks Yoda, and yeah, I looked into the Running Room. None here, but there is in Moncton... I was just trying to avoid making that trip, but that's probably what I'll end up doing. and you too are doing AWESOME!

Hey guys! Hope all of your weekends are going well! I'm soooo happy to have a long weekend! I'm gettin' close to that crazy 169 number!! If I'm good, and stay off the scale until wednesday like I want to, I've got a good feelin' about it! I definitely don't need any talking into getting plastic surgery. The problem will be finding the means to get it done! I have been fantasizing lately over the BodyBugg. BODYBUGG It's this little contraption you wear on your arm, that measures through body temp, sweat, etc. how much calories you're burning. I think it works best if you keep track of your food intake. (which I really hate to do) It figures out, based on how much you've burnt, compared to how much you've eaten, what you need to the rest of the day: eat less, or exercise more, so that you've burned more than you've consumed. It's soooo expensive though, but I want it sooooo bad. I have my laptop that really isn't getting much use since I got my regular desktop computer, so... maybe if I sell the laptop, I'll treat myself to the BodyBugg! I think I'm gonna need some help with this last bit of weight. I also want to start running. I need to find good shoes. There are stores here that sell good shoes, but I don't think have the staff that KNOW running, and how to help me pick out the best shoe for my foot and the way I run. I want to spend the money I'd spend on my gym membership on some good shoes, and RUN for my exercise. Any of you guys have any tips on good shoes? I know what I'm gonna do to START running, it's just the shoes I need. (along with sunglasses, so I can 'hide')

I've been looking into the BodyBugg, and from what I understand, since you couldn't wear it underwater, when you were done your swimming, you'd put it back on, and later when you link it up to your computer, it would ask what you were doing for that time that you didn't have your BodyBugg on, and you would enter "swimming" or something, and it would just put the estimated amount of calories one would burn swimming. Thanks Lisa99 for your help/info!

green! Get a MacBook! You can't get anything easier to use. It'll last forever, you'll never get crazy errors that make no sense, no worry about getting viruses, and it'll last you forever! It comes with a built in camera, and it's just plain old COOL! check 'er out ----> apple.ca If you're near an Apple store (and I'm sure you are), go check it out and give it a chance... you won't regret it!

Hey guys, I've got a question hopefully someone with puff pastry knowledge can help me with. I'm making a quiche, using puff pastry as the crust (frozen, from the store). It says to put it in a GLASS pie plate though, and I don't have one. I'm wondering if there's some secret I don't know that you can only do puff pastry in glass plates, (oven proof, I know) or did whoever made up the recipe just put that to mess with me?! Can I use my regular old metal non-stick pie plate?? Thanks Mandi

How about free trial memberships, so people can see how awesome it all is, and that whether they pay or not, it's a great site.

Along with some typical 'Reply to post ....." emails from my subscribed threads (and yeah, the links I would click on to go to those threads now work, but bring me to the main page, not the thread) I got some emails today stating: "New LinkBack to post 'Lower Body Lift Fun!'" for example. No message with the post, just a link to the thread, which once again, only brings me to the main page. Weirrdness. Also, should I be seeing ads? All I see is a few Google ads on the side, and everywhere else where it seems there SHOULD be ads, say "Reserved for Sponsors".
-
I would absolutely pay to get rid of ads, but it would be nice if paying members got some kind of 'perks' on the site. I don't know what, maybe someone else would have some ideas of what kinds of perks other websites offer paying members over non-paying. LBT has been THE most important and helpful resource to me since I started researching the band, and has continued for the past 1yr + since I was banded. I love it, and I am VERY grateful for Alex's hard work and dedication. Thanks Alex!
-
Works for me now, too!
-
do you mean you can't look at Chickie's journal link? I think it's some issue with LBT right now...
-
yeah, Lila, I agree... you need some checking done! (do you mean you keep sliming EVEN when you haven't eaten, or you haven't eaten cause you keep sliming?) Either way, give your doc a call, and see what they want you to do!
-
Congrats Carol!! You've worked hard for it, for sure. I'm also sorry to hear about your husband, and I'll be thinkin' happy, healthy thoughts for you both  Take care, and don't forget about us! Mandi

I don't even know if she's getting ANYthing down, which makes this Dr. making her wait so long EVEN WORSE! Kari - can you try warm/hot liquids like tea? I lived on the liquid from chicken noodle Soup for a few days, it saved me!
-
you know, it's totally ridiculous that you should have to wait for this defill... I don't care who he's sharing his office with... this is an emergency, and he can take a examination room for 10 minutes, plop ya down on the table, and take out the damn Fluid. You definitely need to complain about this. When was he notified of you needing this defill? How long have you been waiting? Also, I just took it easy with liquids for the first couple days... really, after that, I was fine to try whatever. Believe me, you're going to feel much better. But, do whatever your Dr. tells you. (to tell ya the truth, I wouldn't have to much faith in a Dr. that would make you wait while you're feeling the way you do. He obviously has NO idea what it feels like.)
