    Newly installed Lap Band

Copy the bbcode from the ticker site and paste it into your signature (go to Edit Signature) and Save.
  2. I bought the mini Cuisinart food processor and it is a pain to assemble. It's only 3 interlocking parts (plus the blade) that I always have to wrestle into submission. It was $30 at Big Lots. I then bought a Better Chef blender from Overstock.com that was advertised as great at crushing ice, but it only does a fair job.

    when did you start solids?

Don't beat yourself up. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot of stress right now. Just try to get on soft foods for awhile or protein shakes. I ate a piece of pizza in week 2, just to see how it would go down, and I feel fine. I plan to stick to my diet now, but sometimes I have to do the wrong thing to see what it's like. Of course, I cut it up in little pieces and chewed well. Tomorrow is a fresh start, so don't dwell on past mistakes.
  5. I have numerous fatty cysts, some in visible places like my arms. Doctors tell me these will be MORE visible after weight loss, but nobody suggests what I can do about them. Does anyone else have these bumps and have any solutions?

    Full liquids

I am so much happier on full liquids. I enjoy having soup. I found a really good Campbell's soup (in a box) that is red pepper and black bean. It was delicious! I go back to work tomorrow. Sigh...but the routine will do me good. I just wish I had more energy. But I can't hide out in my apartment forever! I drank V-8 today and it tasted really good. I am drinking a protein drink for lunch (Novarti) that is for bariatric patients. It tastes pretty good but I can only make it last 30 mins., and I am supposed to drink it for an hour! I'm not sure how to do that. Oh well, you can only do your best.

    Anyone out there?

I would like to find a good, once-a-week support group. I hope to spend at least 3 nights a week at the gym as soon as I am recovered from banding. Do you have a contact number for the Wednesday night group? Thanks!

    I'm wasting money peoples!

Try just ordering a side order or a cup of soup for a meal. It is hard when other people are ordering big meals, but I eat my soup and occasionally pick off my son's plate. My daughter and I plan to split an entree when we go out.

    Newly installed Lap Band

I was banded on June 27, too, and have lost 6 lbs. I am on week 2 of my diet plan, and am eating protein drinks, soup, Cream of Wheat, etc. I don't feel much restriction, but felt uncomfortably full tonight when I had a 2nd small bowl of soup. I don't feel much real hunger but have LOTS of head hunger. I MAY get a fill in late August, my doctor says. If you'd like to keep in touch, please email.
  11. Hi George! Happy birthday. I'm really impressed that you have lost 111 lbs without a fill. I am just starting out and am in week 2 post-banding. What foods did you use the most in the early stages? I am eating soup, mostly...Sharon

Good job! You should be proud of yourself! I day-dreamed about barbecue yesterday, but didn't eat any. Bandsters are stronger than food!

    Testing the Band--Bad Idea

Before I had the band, I read posts where people were testing their bands, and I thought I'd never do this. I was wrong. Yesterday, I ate a bite of my son's Hot Pocket, 1 M&M at the movies (ate around the peanut and threw it away), 2 cups of sf pudding. Looking at this list, it doesn't seem horrible, and nothing made me throw up or got stuck, but I woke up feeling a little blue. I IM'd a friend this morning who said :Don't stretch the pouch!" and I gave myself a talking-to. I went through all this pain and effort to lose weight. What is this childish feeling that makes me want to see what I can get away with? I will do better today... I do feel a little dread that I have to go back to work Monday. It's the best thing for me, but I like being at home with the kids. They are old enough to be alone when they have to, but I wish I could spend more time with them in the summer. Oh well, time for vitamins and breakfast before it gets too late. Next week, we join a health club and cancel cable (other than basic).

    day 4

Are you allowed to eat solids? I haven't read your other posts, but your header is "Day 4" so I am wondering if that is ok yet. Also, I was told to avoid coffee because caffeine stimulates the appetite. Don't give up on yourself. You can do this! I am struggling with the post-op hungries, too, and had a shaky days yesterday, but plan to get back on the bandwagon today. Keep trying and the scale will turn around!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I feel the same way, so no, it isn't weird. I guess I want some recognition of my efforts but not a big embarrassing display of attention. I wonder if people who KNOW we had surgery will be less likely to comment, since they think we want to keep it quiet? I'm sure everyone noticed how nice you looked and were thinking, "What's different abou her?" Most people are worried about what everyone is thinking about them, so don't notice others unless it is a HUGE difference.

thought this might be a good thing to do

Except for getting a ride home from the hospital and then get you inside and situated, you don't need much care after banding. I am pretty much on my own and have been doing fine. Just make sure to have your prescriptions filled before surgery and have your broth, jello, heating pad, thermometer, gas strips, etc. in the house. Good luck!

    I dont get it

Your body is adjusting. I'll bet when you go to week 2, you will drop more than you expected, so hang in there!

    Cleaning Day

I think I am up to cleaning house today. I am 6 days post-op and have little pain and little hunger. I crave foods like crazy--right now it's a tuna melt-- but will try to make it through the week on clear liquids, though I started adding a small protein shake in the evening for comfort and protein. I am going to have to get out all my boxed up clothes and see what I have in the next size. I hope my daughter doesn't hate me but I may raid her closet once in awhile and see if anything fits. I am fine with wearing 1 or 2 outfits until I drop a size. I need to start exercising and may enlist my son's help. If he will walk the dog with me at night, I'll walk. Unfortunately, I injured my heel a few eeks ago and it is hard to walk, but I bought some gel insoles that should help. Now I just wonder if I can bend over to get my gym shoes laced! My port site is much less painful when I bend, so I think I can do it. Time to get the house cleaned up so I can enjoy the holiday tomorrow. I might try to go to the movies and fireworks. I think getting out the last 2 days has built up my strength. Remember: That Which Does Not Kill Us Makes Us Stronger!

  22. I got bored today with clear liquids, so picked up some Campbells French Onion Soup, drained the onions, and ate my portion of the broth. It was delicious! Two more days. We can do this!

    June line up

Doesn't your surgeon want to see you immediately? This doesn't sound normal. If nothing else, you need better pain killers. Many of us had hernia repairs, but it sounds like you really had complications. Please call your surgeon back and get in there. I've never heard of the band having to "seat" itself. Mine has a piece of the stomach sutured over it so it won't slip. Your band should be "seated." You are in my prayers.

Anyone up for a meet and greet this weekend?

Hi! I was having surgery the weekend of the 27th, but would be available other weekends, but no longer do buffets. Saturday mornings for coffee/tea work for me in the future!

    Anyone out there?

Hi all! I am back on my feet after surgery (still off work but feeling good). Mary (Cadet) worked out the first meeting (thanks Mary!). I'm not sure yet if I can make it but will definitely try. I can probably do soup by then (I am still on clears). Once it is cooler, we can do the District. Any other ideas for meeting places? Is there a gathering place at the Galleria other than the food court? I don't get out much, so suggestions are welcome.
